Not for small kids
Since Riu has a separate adult only hotel, I thought Riu Palace would be a great option for families. And though there are a few “family friendly” features such as a kiddie pool, kids club with toys (usually empty) and kids show (at 8pm?!), there are far more “family unfriendly” features. First, it is basically impossible to find a cabana at the beach or even a decent poolside spot at any decent “family” hour. People seem to reserve these spots with personal items either late at night or before 6am in the morning. As a result, my small kids had no shade to protect them, while the older crowd made sure they had plenty. This really limited our pool/beach time as we had to go to our room for all naps etc. This seems to be a common complaint, isn’t it time the hotel came up with a system to manage this or ensure separate spaces for families with little kids? Second, there is a disgusting amount of smoking in all outdoor public areas. I tried on many occasions to find a lounge area by the restaurants or lobby area for my family, only for a smoker to come along and send us running. In this day and age, I would expect a hotel, particularly a family friendly hotel, to at least provide a non-smoking outdoor area. Third, the nightly entertainment cannot be escaped so forget about bedtime. Every night we heard loud music in our room till 11pm and our kids had trouble sleeping. We finally changed rooms (a complicated procedure that basically kills one morning of your vacation) and while that helped a bit, it certainly wasn’t noise free. Finally, the nightly entertainment can be inappropriate for kids. Given all the noise, we decided we should at least go to some of the shows. On one night, we started with the 8pm kids show (which was great but basically the same each night) and were told this was to be followed by a circus. A circus is typically kid friendly so we stayed on but it became completely inappropriate and scary quickly. All families with small kids had to quickly leave. My daughter still talks about it. Adult entertainment is great but please let us know so we can keep our kids away.

I visit the riu palace Aruba it was very nice check in was quick my room was very nice and spacious also very clean. The maid was very nice. The alacart Restutants was really good except the steak house the service was very poor they do not speak English and with every orders it was the same side dish . The resort is very nice every one is friendly drinks were good buffet restaurant was ok there was always something for everyone to enjoy. The entertainment was not good at times. In our room there was beers, pop and booze but my wife only drank wine so it was kind of inconvenient for her so we ask for wine and they said no but we can speak to the manager in the morning, when we talk to him he sent one bottle and that was it. The bartenders are good but I find if you want good drinks you have to go to the adult side. On the other hand our buffet is way nicer and the lobby so as the hotel. This was my second visit to Aruba. Would I go back to this hotel sure.
This is where to stay in Aruba!!
So I am staying at the Hilton next to the RIU right now. I visited and wish I stayed at the RIU. Next time I 100%will!! Plz do the same. This is why...$7beers $20 simple lunches here at the Hilton. Ridiculously expensive everywhere but if u do all inclusive at the RIU u will save hundreds!. The beach here is amazing, soft white sand, clean clear water with plenty of beach activities everywhere. The RIU is big, clean, way better than the Hilton. Stay here u won't go wrong. I'm about to check out of the Hilton and I bet my room charges for 4 days is over $500. Crazy bad decision. Stay at the RIU
Overall a lovely stay at this gorgeous hotel. Service and food was good and very friendly staff! Entertainment wasn’t up to standard, the highlight was the location. They should enforce the rule of not reserving beach chairs or cabañas.
Riu palace was amazing, we had a few doubts based on the negative reviews before we came but all were taken out of our mind when we arrived. Food is nice, we have had nicer in other Rius but there’s something for everyone including themed Mexican night once a week and sushi, the special restaurants don’t require booking and are easy enough to get a table, they are all very nice with the Japanese being our fav. Staff are all wonderful however there are the odd one that won’t bother as much with you if you aren’t tipping them every single time they get a drink or do something for you, all for tipping but when you pay over grand for your holiday why should you do it every 10 minutes? Drinks are amazing, they fill the cups right up with alcohol so if you’re a lightweight bare that in mind, they defo don’t water down and cocktails are amazing. Pool is BEAUTIFUL and grounds well kept! The entertainment staff do great games by the pool every day and activities. Beach is amazing don’t worry about the sad people that reserve the palapas at 5am because you can easily have access to tons of deck chairs all day on the beach, just not as easily in the shade. Pool chairs there’s tons so don’t worry. Room was amazing huge bed and upgraded with mini bar and lovely views and cleaners were fantastic! needs updating decor wise but they are aware of that and it is an older hotel, what do you expect? The only ONLY negative was that the evening entertainment was SOOOOO SO SO SO loud and the dancing is very good but the live music, the singers personally are not as great, in my opinion. We just had a few cocktails instead then chilled as we could hear it crystal clear in our rooms also. Thank you riu, Aruba is also incredible! We will be back x ps the palace is SO much nicer than the Antillas in our opinion so defo do the palace, kids were very well behaved that we saw and there weren’t that many. The beach party on a Sunday is super fun! Tips - walk to your left out of the palace along the beach and you’ll see lots of iguanas and a beautiful divi divi tree spot for amazing photos, we actually walked an hour and a half along and ended up at eagle beach which is a MUST! But wear good shoes and take suncream and water it’s a long way but so worth it. If you go right out the palace along the beach you can walk all of palm beach along and you’ll come across Edwardo’s beach hut where they sell these famous Aruba healthy bowls of different fruit granola etc so nice and only 10 dollars a pot! Get out and explore! Tui Rep was very nice and informative and gave everyone some great tips, however a date was written incorrect simple mistake that had been written down so we had to go back and ask so make sure you triple check this otherwise you’ll end up doing a wrong day tour. Have fun!
