    Get your moneys worth elsewhere

I will never stay at a RIU resort first and last ever airport shut down - fly out the next day. charged for all 3 nights (averaged over $1k night). The food was just ok. The adult section was filled with kids. No Chairs management ignoring us. Not worth the price.

Pleasant resort for a solo trip........

Overall I had a great week. Check-in was a breeze and staff was super friendly. Room was clean with a nice large balcony with a minimal partial view of the ocean. Pillows are flimsy and cheap so is the bedding on a very hard bed. There are no room darkening curtains to pull so I had a very bright light shining directly in my face from an outside building. I had no Do not disturb sign. My room was cleaned on the day before leaving and housekeeping failed to leave any hand or wash towels. I called to request and was told some were on the way.....I am still waiting for them to show up. Room served its purpose of having a clean and safe place, but is nothing special. The staff is what makes this resort with their friendly and welcoming personalities. Room had a mini bar with fridge and was well stocked. The pool is very nice with plenty of chairs around it. The food is good, but is your basic buffet and nothing special. The highlight of my stay was the spa and I would return again simply because of it.

    Can’t wait to go back!

Just spent 5 nights at the Riu Palace Aruba and had a wonderful time. The accommodations are on par with other Riu all inclusive I’ve visited in the past but the beach/water was absolutely stunning. Room: rooms aren’t new, but if you’re spending much time in your hotel room in Aruba, you’re doing it wrong. Housekeeping kept the room clean. As long as I kept the balcony door closed and the ceiling fan running, temperature was fine. Shower was great- hot water and water pressure were always there. I stayed in room 930 which is a junior suite with partial ocean view. We had a big balcony with a perfect view of the ocean and the pool. Sitting on the balcony for a morning coffee was a great way to start the day. Food/drink: Breakfast buffet was always good with plenty of options. I ate at both the regular buffet and the buffet in the steakhouse for lunch. Both were good. The taco station on Tuesday in the main buffet was delicious. For dinner I ate at the steakhouse, Japanese restaurant and the buffet. Food and service were great at the Japanese restaurant our first night with no wait to get a table when I walked in around 7pm. The steakhouse was fine although I probably wouldn’t do it again. It’s the busiest specialty restaurant and I just don’t think the wait plus slow service were worth it. I think I could eat in the buffet for dinner every night for at least a week before I got tired of it. So many options- and it night they a specialty station available- one night was sushi, and another night was stir fry. Drinks were all great..nothing better than a frozen cocktail by the pool. Some bartenders made them stronger than others, but would gladly accommodate whatever you asked them. Beach: The beaches in Aruba are stunning. White sand and crystal clear turquoise water. The palapas do get reserved pretty early in the morning but plenty of chairs available at all times. Entertainment: Pool entertainment was fun during the day. They play music and then usually have some kind of games in the afternoon. Went to a couple of the shows at night and they were also good. The staff is very talented. The hotel is just a few minutes walk into town where there are plenty of bars/restaurants and souvenir shops. I for sure will be planning another trip in the near future!

    Rui Palace Aruba Ah Oh

I have been traveling to Aruba for over 20 years.  I purchased a timeshare in Aruba (at Eagel Beach) staying at multiple hotels over the years, very satisfied.  Since Covid, I have sold my timeshare (big mistake) and started staying at all inclusive resorts, hit or miss. Pros of Rui Resort Palace - Staff is professional, friendly and extremely patient.  We were treated like family the whole week, from the morning until the evening.  Parts of the resort are beautiful.  Pools are outstanding and very clean. Beach and pool staff were fabulous taking care of us with drinks and towels all day. The staff at the breakfadt buffet and special restaurants were all great!   *****Breakfast buffet was outstanding!****** Cons of Rui Palace - Check in, was not pleasant.  We booked Junior Suits, and requested to be close to each other, and we did get that, but we were put in the TIMESHARE BUILDING which we called "the prison".  This building is IN NEED of major remodeling --- the rooms are pretty much disgusting (smelled of sewer, not clean, no air conditioning -- the balcony, so small, I would not think of standing on it-dangerous.  Even though you spend little time in the rooms, your spending $$$$$ and expect accommodations to be top notch.  Balconys, in the morning, is very important to me, love having my coffee, looking at the ocean, not a parking lot, or construction site. My sister and I went right back down to the front desk, asked for new rooms away from that building.  The woman, who took care of us, OUTSTANDING, wish I had her name, she gave us 2 new rooms, in the MAIN building, 4th foor, together, ocean front, the next day, and we were EXTEMELY pleased, 100% better. We met other people who voiced their opinion with the prison and also changed their rooms.  PLEASE renovate that building like the other 2! -Buffet lunch and dinner, not great.  We went out of the resort for those meals.  Burgers, hotdogs, pizza sandwiches and nachos, horrible. I would not eat this food when traveling to the carribean.  I am not a big eater, but love good meals whereever I travel to, nor is my sister, but my nephew is and he was not happy with the choices. Some people would say food was good, but we disagree.   When you spend a lot of money to stay at an all inclusive, the food should be UPSCALE! The Special restaurant food was just ok, and we were limited to what we could eat, meaning could not have a different main course if you was not pleased with what you picked.. Steak was not good. Japanese and Italian food was ok. -The 3rd day 1 Elevator shut down and was never fixed the remainder of the week.  The crowds built up everyday, and we had to spend time waiting for the elevator, and started taking the stairs from the 4th floor.  Not good..  When we asked when the elevator would be fixed, we were told they are working on it.  When we checked out, elevator still not fixed.  Big inconvenience. -The Safe(s) lost power the 1st and last day.  This issue was resolved quickly, but I would recommend checking each one, making sure they work.  Scary when our passports and valuables are in there. - Sports bar and coffee shops should be open 24/7.  The food in the sports bar is horrible and so is the coffee in the room.  Change the menu or update with fresh food everyday with bar food, wings, etc.. 24 hour resort you are not, otherwise you would have staff serving customers 24 hours a day,.  Nothing is opened for people who get up early for coffee?  Ghost town!! Room service does not have a breakfast menu in case you wanted to eat before the buffet opens to get to the beach early.  Also room service takes a long time, which is why we, once again went out of the resort for early morning coffee. People, weather, beach and food is why I come back to Aruba every year, no other Island can accommodate my needs and I have traveled to over 20 islands over the years, they do not compare to ARUBA.  I will be back again, staying on Eagel beach resorts or timeshares. Palm Beach is beautiful but to crowded.  All inclusive is not for everyone, and food in Aruba outside the resorts, is what I would go for moving forward...

LOVE Aruba and the Riu Palace Aruba!

Our trip to Aruba was from May 9-14 and this was the third time we stayed at the resort. Our room was 929 and had a partial ocean view. Yes....the rooms are outdated and the pool could be renovated. If that bothers you, stay at another resort. The people working there are very friendly and work hard and we tipped them accordingly. There is a drink service at the pool but not on the beach. Be aware people get up really early to reserve lounges at the pool and/or beach palapas. Bring towel clips because of the wind and make sure you bring plenty of suntan lotion. If not, I saw a bottle in the store for $27. Also, bring an insulated mug. They will fill it with your favorite drink and it will keep it cold longer. There are specialty restaurants and a buffet. We only ate at the buffet this trip because some nights the restaurants were closed because of special events and the hotel was at capacity. The specialty restaurants do not accept reservations and have three seating times. The food at the buffet can become repetitive, but there is enough of a variety to try something. They had lobster of the buffet one night as well. Download the Riu app so you can see the list of daily activities, restaurant menus, and to request items you may need for your room and/or mini bar—quicker than going to the front desk. If you like top-shelve alcohol, you must request it. If you just say a vodka and tonic, they will give you the cheap vodka. For those of you who like Tito’s vodka, they have it! There is a nice walkway behind the resort that goes all the way up to the Holiday Inn. We took a walk every night after dinner. There are several shopping areas and casinos within walking distance as well. If this is your first time visiting Aruba, you must fill out an online documentation form before you travel and it can be completed 1 week before your trip. If this is not completed, they will not let you get on the plane. We saw some people who trying to do it at the airport before boarding the plane. I am happy that we left the island on a Tuesday because we have left on the weekend on previous trips and the lines at the airport were crazy.
