Friendly, Fun and First Class
Upon arrival to the property we were offered sparkling wine. So nice! Check-in was quick and preset by Sunwing. Our room was ready. It was on the fifth floor facing east. We only slept in the room so we did not pay extra for a special room. Why do this when 99% of the time you are on the beach!!! The room was clean, well equipped and the bed was comfy. Lots of hangars in the closet for the fussy folk. It was late so we changed and went down to the Italian theme dinning room. There was no line up and just a short wait. The food was unremarkable but ok. We also dined at Krystal which is the Asian Fusion spot, the steak house called The Palm and the Arubian restaurant. The steak house was excellent but you will need to get in line at 5:30 pm to insure a seat for dinner. The remaining places - no wait. The buffet is amazing - this is a separate restaurant. It really is wonderful with tons of seating..so much so that you can skip the themed places because everything they offer is at the buffet. We always did breakfast at the buffet, and lunch at the Palm which also does a lunchtime buffet. If you want the perfect spot on the beach under a palapa get there with your towels at 5:30 am and claim your spot. The staff arrives there at 6 am and unlocks/distributes the chaise lounges, little cocktail tables and chairs. If you don't want to get up that early you can always get a spot but it may not be under a shady palapa. The ocean was clear, cool and perfect for swimming. We did the beach all day then went up to the pool area late afternoon and found shade. The music is going on all day at the pool with the swim up bar. it is always packed with boozers hollering and drinking. Note that you get 2 towel cards. They have a towel stand. Go there, give your cards, room number and then get your towels. You will get cards back when you return towels. When checking out you need to reveal your room keys and your towel cards or pay a huge fee. This is not a chore, just saying. The weather was tremendous but be aware that it is always breezy. To close let it be known that we had a wonderful 7 days trip at this glorious, high service oriented, clean and nicely located resort.

Aruba Returnee but First Time at a RIU
First time at a RIU and we're hooked. The staff working for this hotel deserve 5 stars for their friendly, helpful manner. Shout out to Kevin who helped me via email prior to our trip in choosing a room - he was prompt in his replies and chose the perfect room for us. The free transport offered to members from the airport to the hotel is a nice savings, however, Nexus (the company doing the transport) was 25 minutes delayed in picking us up - annoying. They were on time for our return to the airport. Zarel at the front desk made our check in quick and easy, and she was able to get us into our room early. Our view was wonderful - side facing the RIU Palace with a great view of the ocean, town and sunrises. Daily housekeeping was thorough and requests made through the RIU app for extras were promptly addressed. They decorated our room for our anniversary , which helped it to be special. The reason I gave 4 stars to the room/building is that there is a damp smell that is stronger in the halls, probably due to the rugs holding dampness, and air conditioning went out 2x and we lost water 1x due to a power outage. A text with status update to guests would be helpful as we thought it was isolated problem to our room or floor. Also, the battle for a palapas is stressful. I got up with the 5:30 am crowd to get one, which is not what you want to do on vacation. I and others tipped staff to bring the chairs but they do the minimum of dragging the chairs over. Witnessed beach staff throwing towels on chairs to save for those who throw them money. I'm not sure the beach staff are part of the hotel or a separate company but that should be addressed. Having to line up an hour before dinner for one of the restaurants was also frustrating although we met great people while waiting. We stayed during high season - the hotel was fully booked so the only way to avoid lines is to eat at the buffet, which we LOVED. No wait, great food selections and friendly staff. We tipped even though it was buffet style (love the omlet lady) but the staff are great whether you tip or not. Check out was also easy. Will definitely stay at RIU again.

Great adults only resort
This is a great adults-only resort with a fabulous beachfront. Food and beverage service is fantastic. They have 5 full service restaurants, buffet restaurant, 24 snack bar. The room was very clean and comfortable, but we had to switch rooms because they overbooked and what we had wasn’t what we had paid for.

Love Aruba Riu Antillies
We have stayed at this resort for 6 years in a row. I wish they would give a nice map of the resort and a map of the island for guest. I had a problem with the transfer from the hotel to the airport. I checked the day before we were going home and was told to be checked out in the lobby by 1250pm. Our flight was at 2pm. I ended up paying for a taxi to rush us to the airport at 11am. The girl at the transfer desk told us the wrong time.

Great staff, so pleasant & great service!
Prefer the beach, not happy with type music at the pool! Tired of bass & pounding drums. Music should please all! Best musical entertainers at night were tenor, Eduardo Bublaire & John Paul, sax player! Best show was Rockstation, should be more great shows there! Could do w/o weird Riu pty.! Music on terrace should not be a smoking section! They were loud & rude & non-smokers breathing in & stinking of their smoke while “trying” to enjoy music! On a bright note, we loved our renovated room, Ruth, did a great job keeping it clean! Paola, the towel lady, was wonderful, as always! So bubbly! Since we are not happy w/2 of the 4 specialty restaurants (Italian & Japanese) we had most dinners elsewhere. Very happy w/breakfast & lunch buffets, nice choices. This was our third visit here but would like to see some improvements, per my neg. comments, before considering staying here again next year. Victoria
