Me and my two daughters (14 months and 2 months) stayed here for 2 weeks as my dad was getting married, it was beautiful, everyone is friendly and will do anything for you, would definitely go again, beautiful hotel, beautiful everything, best holiday of my life, even with 2 babies. I would highly recommend.
The hotel's decor and furnitures are delapidated. Even motels hasve flatscreen tv while RIU Ocho Rios has big back tv. The mattrasses are moldy and the springs poking out. I went my entire stay without an iron and working hair dryer. It is so hard to get the reception. The phone line is always busy. The food is horrible. They take forever to replenish the line. Management has 0 training and the same for the staffs. Health inspector obviouly not doing anything when the visit. I will never visit there again nor recommend that hotel.
STAY HERE IF YOU WANT TO STAY IN A DUMP!
Me and my family stayed here for what we thought would be 5 days of Jamaican bliss and was a total nightmare. We spent over 10K in rooms and not only was the resort a dump and under construction but the RIU customer relation team insulted us only offering 3,000 RIU points ($120) as if we want to pay to stay there again. Never again! Save your money. - The food was horrible and they ran out of the premium items - They ran out of Tequila for the entire resort - They placed the dirty sheets that I had taken off my bed and onto the floor, back on my bed when they cleaned my room - The facility was outdated with big box tv's - Worst of all, our floor had a wide-open elevator shaft on the 4th floor with just a board leaning against it. I feared for my 3-year old the entire time. Trust me, go somewhere else!
Do not stay here - this resort does not care about the customer’s experience
I booked a trip for my family of 7 based on a great experience in Cabo the year before. It was a total of 12 in our group. The Resort did not make us aware of the hotel shutting down for 5 months the day that we checked out. The entire week , the contractors were breaking things down and leaving hazardous equipment in the hallways and the stairways. The elevator was boarded up and the huge gap between the board and the elevator shaft was enough room for one of my 3 year old grandsons to fall 4 stories. Our room smelled like mildew and I advised the staff on 3 different occassions. I understand that they were shutting down to improve services, however, it should not have been while we were at the resort. They ran out of food items several nights and actually made fun of us at the steakhouse when they bought our group the last baked potatoe and asked that 3 people share it. Once I got home, I wrote complaints to the customer relations and all that the agent could say was that “it was a surprise that we had a bad experience”. I don’t understand how it could have been a surprise when they knew their plans for shutting things down while guests were still in the resort. To top it off, my agent provided FAR LESS than what was provided to a friend who had the same exact complaints. Not only were we treated unfairly during our stay, we were also treated unfairly when it came to the resolution. This Resort is all about money and not creating a good Brand or customer experience.
A great Stay!
We visited the Riu Ocho Rios April 3-7 for a birthday celebration with 30 other guests. We were pleasantly surprised with the service, food and property. I look forward to seeing the changes and upgrades when the property reopens later this year. The Riu is large - but easy to navigate. We stayed on the deluxe side - which was totally worth the fee to us. Some in our party did not have this option and seemingly missed out on things and wished they had it. The Jerk Shack is amazing! Employees were nice and helpful. The rooms were spacious and clean, the pools were great and the beach fabulous. We would stay here again.
