Celebrating my Sister Inlaw 60th Birthday
A group of 19 of us chose this hotel as it had very good reviews and as we booked and stayed here, I can confirm that it stood by the standards of the reviews. Had a great time in Jamaica. The entertainment team were excellent. Plenty of food and drinks. The only one thing is that if you like hot spicy foods then make sure you take along your hot sauce. The hotel only supplies Tabasco sauce. Overall the experience was excellent.

Family holiday in Jamaica
We were a big group of approx 20 for my sisters birthday. When we checked in we asked to be accommodated in one block which the hotel happily did. The room was nice, clean and spacious and was kept spotless by the hard working cleaners on a daily basis. The pools were nice and beach was amazing, there was no issue getting sunbeds etc. Lots of selection of food as St Ann's restaurant and good quality. Restaurant staff were very attentive brought drinks etc to your table. The entertainment staff were amazing and so energetic considering the long days they worked. We ended up tipping the cleaners, a number of entertainment staff and a lady at St Ann's restaurant who was our waitress for their efforts.

Lively resort, staff could be friendlier
This a lively resort with plenty of activties throughout the day. I’ll try and keep this brief. Rooms The Junior Suites (near the Reggae bar) are a little dated and the mahogany wood makes it look old. The building near the splash park seems a bit more modern. The room itself is spacious. Shower and beds are good. We had an amazing view from the 4th floor. We also had cockroaches in our room, the staff did their best to sort the issue and eventually moved us the next day. We discovered another cockroach in the new room as well which may mean it’s a bigger issue with the building. Grounds Spotless and well looked after. People work tirelessly around the clock. Food One of the best we’ve had. Plenty of choice, didn’t experience ‘cold meats’ like some people say. The Jerk Hut is great. Sports Bar has snacks around the clock. Could do with an ice cream machine that kids could go to during the day. Drinks Plenty of choice. Great selection of cocktails. Bars Good service, could do with a few more smiles here and there from the staff. My wife struggled to get served a few times when asking for the same thing I always got (boiled water for the baby) which was very strange. Front desk staff Could be friendlier. You want to be greeted with smiles upon arrival as it’s the first impression but that wasn’t always rhe case. Pools Main pool is lively, too much so with young children. We spent our time at the quieter Reggae Pool which was nice but it would be good to have soke light entertainment as nothing else happens. Splash parks Great! Kids one is closed on Tuesdays. Riu Land Very good, our daughter loved it. Beach Great. Snorkeling is fantastic. Hotel shop Absolutely rip off. Avoid at all costs. $7 for a Red Bull and £13 for a bag of Lays. Ridiculous. Taje a right at the gate and walk to the supermarket in under 10 minutes. Taxi service Very expensive. $35 round trip to Dunns River which is 1.5 miles aways. Grah your own taxi on the main road, pay a little extra and ask them to not pick up anyone else en route. We hired a car for $65 for the day. Area Fine to walk/drive around. Leave your stereotypes and perceptions of Jamaica before you get on the plane. Entertainment Very very good. Friendly staff. Good energy. Night time shows are good. Only weird thing was asking all the children to get on stage and then telling everyone under 4 to leave as they couldn’t play musical chairs. Not the easiest situations for parents to be in. Restaurants Only tried the Italian which was good. Cleaners Excellent Trips Avoid doing any when the cruise ships are in. Google ‘Ocho Rios port schedule’ to see the calendar. Overall, we had a good time and would come back if we could stay in the Superior Family Room.

Birthday Trip
I was there with my granddaughter to celebrate her 4th birthday. We had a great time even tho there were a few let downs. 1. I emailed customer service 2 weeks before arriving, to request a birthday cake for my granddaughter, and everything was in place, or so I thought. I got to the restaurant to dine, only to find out that our name was not on the list of birthday cakes. Very disappointed. But Manager Orlando, turned it around and made a special celebration for us the following evening. Thank you, Orlando, you are truly a Gem. Great attitude and provided excellent service. The front desk agents could be a bit more understanding and show more empathy. They seem to lack empathy at the front desk. I also had mold in my bathroom which they did have fixed. I should not have been checked in a room with mold tho. The entertainment was exceptional. Saturday night white party was fantastic!! Food was great for most days. I found the lunch options to be better than at dinner time in the buffet restaurant. Overall, a great trip and will be back!
