    Extremely poor for Rui

Extremely poor, very dated hotel Tip expecting staff and poor service recieved if not tipped. Rude unhappy looking staff Extremely rude arrogant manager very degrading towards women We arrived yesterday 26th May around 4pm to reception staff talking amongst themselves and not acknowledging us standing waiting, we were not shown to our rooms we found our own way there. Extremely disappointed !!!! Dirty bed sheets that look like they had been slept on with brown sweet streaks, room had awful mould smell, rooms are filthy dirty dust all over floor and in draws, mould stains on curtains, ceiling fan and TV control do not work, the rooms looked like they had been checked out off, beds remade, and passed on to next people my extreme very honest opinion !!!!!! We went around the hotel to see very much the same the dining area also filthy dirty badly staind table clothes set up for other people to use quite literally food all over them. The last straw was seeing the chef drop his meat carving knife at dinner, picked it up, looked around to check if any one noticed and re-used it by then we had walked out not eating a thing and still haven't until we see our rep who we are currently waiting for while I'm writing our review. Not to top the badly stained bed that has been left in the hallway outside our room since we arrived yesterday 26th 4pm and it is still there now 27th at 11:30am even though the manager is fully aware of it. Can't wait to get out of here we have not even done 24hrs and I most definitely am not prepared to speed two weeks here with not only a disabled mother who has been in hospital recently with spesis also my husband who already has stomach issues due to bariatric surgery can really do with them not back in hospital Very very dissatisfied and extremely angry 😤😠😷two weeks holiday ruined so far

Raw Food - Rude Staff - Dangerous Electrics

Came out to Punta Cana for a surprise 60th Birthday for my dad. On being given our room key, our first view was a long wire hanging out of a broken electrical socket, clipped to the ceiling with a light dangling from it. The othee sockets were hanging off the wall and the drainage plug in the shower was not secured leaving a gapping hole in the floor. We didn't want to put a downer on the holiday as we were there for a very special celebration. We had five days on our own prior to my dad arriving and tried to settle in. The 2nd morning after arriving we left our 2nd floor room and headed to the lift with our 11 month old baby. All along the corridor were empty glasses, plates with left over food on and it was generally a mess. At the lift was broken glass everywhere. The 3rd morning around 5.30am I was woken up by a commotion coming from the pool area. I went out on the balcony to see that there was a very drunk male still drinking at the bar. By 6am we decided to leave the room and go for a walk. Walking to the lift we could see staff and Drs surrounding a male who was on a ledge, covered in blood, drunk and being verbally abusive. We realised that this was not a family resort, but a place for groups to get drunk, be disrespectful and the staff never cleaned up after them. The only time we received any smiles off of staff is when they get a tip, if you don't tip, forget any sort of service. By day 5 my dad arrived. It was then that I spent the next 6 days with chronic diarrhoea. We then discovered after being in our dads room and feeling the coolness of their air conditioning that ours wasn't working properly, on going back to our room, I looked at the monitor on the wall and when I touched a button I received an electric shock. When I returned home from holiday. I was rushed to hospital due to my illness that I had got from the food. Raw sausages, raw chicken and the list goes on. Avoid at all costs unless you simply want to get drunk and smash glasses for a week.

    Terrible treatment

We checked in to hotel and was greeted by Julio. He was smiling and polite. . "Guest Relations" on the other hand was horrible!. They could not find our reservation even with our documents and reservation number showing it. . We initially were booking jr. Suite. Our travel agent was told that due to their 3 night minimum policy even though the jr. Suite room was available all but 1 night we had to book a standard room for 3 nights and the jr. Suite the final nights of our stay. . We were not happy about this to begin with but tolerated the idea. 90 minutes is what it took us to have Simon and Jinille figure out that we had reservations only beginning the 28th. The disregard to our situation was awful. Eventually Simon said I'll put you in a room and Monday everything will get taken care of, but I need your passports or $500. . There was absolutely no effort to help us get in touch with our booking company who they have a representative on site with , but cannot do anything until Monday. . The last thing before I slammed the passport down was Simon telling me I understand you now I want you to understand me. . A little compassion, effort, and accommodating of this situation could have made things feel a little better. An hour and a half before telling me we are not in there and here's what we will do because I see the paper while we fought with trying to even call out on our phones. . The other issue is your ridiculous 3 day policy! That's where the problems truly began. Forcing us to stay 3 nights in a room that is not even suitable for our needs. Oh and we have no access to the wifi and not sure what other amenities until Monday because we aren't in the system yet.

    Value for money

I have just returned from my first holiday with my boyfriend and overall a nice and pleasant experience. Being the smallest of the Riu hotels we were apprehensive of our visit but it was absolutely fine. We stayed in a normal room which had 2 double beds. Nice and comfy. Very clean room. Yes, a little dated but that didn’t effect our stay in any way. We had a room on the 3rd floor facing the pool which was great. The Balero bar is open quite late so you can hear the music Until the early hours but nothing too disturbing. Easy access to the beach via Caribbean street which has shops, jewellers etc. Great for souvenirs. Around a 4 min walk to the beach. Beach was lovely and clean. You get some locals offering merchandise but leave straight away if you say no thanks. Food was decent. Gets a bit repetitive but that was expected. Lots of drinks choices at the bars, too. All the staff are friendly :) The pool parties are great which is included in on the all inclusive. We visited the water park but left after 2 rides as we were told we had to remove ALL jewellery. Few points to make to clarify to those looking at booking: *Take mosquito repellent *You CANT eat or drink at any of the other Riu’s but you can visit them to look around *Free WiFi through the hotel and pool area. Good connection too *Take a mixture of US dollars and Dominican Peaso ( we took majority US dollars *Most workers like drivers, airport assistants like/expect being tipped. So take a good amount of 100 peaso notes easy to tip You get provided bottles of water, bottles of coke and spirits in your hotel bedroom. They’re FREE to use and are replenished every 2 days. The reviews I’d read before our visit said that a lot of people became poorly after visiting the resort. This was a concern but neither of us were poorly. We used bottled water to brush our teeth, didn’t have ice cubes in our drinks and avoided salad. We used our common sense. Overall we had a great holiday and would definitely return. Don’t let all the negative reviews put you off booking :)

This is a very basic riu resort we've ever visited, it is the cheapest one as well out of the whole complex of multiple riu resorts It has one buffet restaurant and one bar in the complex and another buffet (same food) and a bar by the beach It is good value for money and a decent family resorts for young families Only a few minutes walk to beach or water park
