    Had a great time!

First time in Jamaica and it did not disappoint. We had a great time here. Front desk staff Libis was professional, courteous and accommodating. The food and service in all the restaurant was great. We had the same servers and Daniel, J’Maire, Alison in Rose Hall were friendly, welcoming and attentive. Service at the Italian restaurant was very good as well. The food at the Asian restaurant was delicious, but service was just ok. Jerk chicken on the beach was 👌🏽 The entertainment was fantastic! Every night there was a fun activity. Very talented bunch. The beach party and reggae night were my favorite. Shout out to dancers DMac and Shay. The staff were friendly and professional. The only recommendation is to upgrade the rooms. Although clean, they are very dated. Overall we had a fun vacation and would go again.

    Worst Vacation

The worse vacation ever. Their pools were filthy with no filtration. I paid for a jam west excursion which included horseback riding on the beach, safari. Ricks Cafe and ATV totaling $320. We left the hotel at 7:30 am to return at 9:30 pm. The excursions were trash, you rode the horse on a small trail to the beach got in the water for10 minutes, took a picture and your done, you get on a bus to go back to the stables a HUGE waste of money, the safari entailed of a crab in a cage, pigeons, termite hills 4 crocodiles and 1 turtle once again a HUGE waste of money. We then waited approximately 3 hours for the ATV ride and once we finally got on it, it was only a half hour because they were in a rush because they were closing. Now let me backtrack, along with these excursions rock climbing and a water park was included. The entire time my boyfriend and I and the other guests were waiting not once were we directed to them. We kept inquiring about our wait and they became rude. We were unable to go and enjoy Ricks Cafe because the excursions and how unorganized it was. Once I got back to the hotel, Riu Montego Bay I spoke with the agent who arranged the excursions, now I wasn't the only person complaining about the entire excursion there were 10 of us and we ALL went to the agent with the same complaint and we were promised care packages at time of departure to compensate for our horrible experience. I see the agent prior to boarding my bus and I asked her about the care package, of course she said the manager withdrew the offer because we still did the excursion. How do you offer something and then withdraw it. Wow, and Riu Montego Bay and jam west really wanted a good rating on trip advisor, Rightttt what they really need to ask for is more training on how to orchestrate their excursions and please their guests!!! One and done at Riu Montego Bay Jamaica and Jam West!!! 👎👎👎👎

Hard working staff made a very enjoyable holiday

Short transfer from airport, prompt check in and welcome drink. Bellhop took our cases and accompanied us to our room. In building 2 on 1st floor, very clean room and well equipped bathroom. Balcony overlooked lovely well kept gardens and walkway to pool, excellent for people watching! Chantelle, our maid kept the room spotless. Food in buffet restaurant, large range of choice for breakfast and dinner, little less choice in Mahoe restaurant at lunchtime. Jerk chicken hut on the beach served at lunchtime, very popular and can be long queues but lovely well cooked and only meal eaten that was piping hot. Food could be hotter in restaurants as only just warm when you return to table to start eating. Tip - try not to sit beneath ceiling fan as food gets cold quickly! Great choice of beautiful tasting fruit at all 3 meals, especially mango, pineapple and bananas. Shout out to Kerasi (think correct spelling) our waitress in evening when we ate in buffet Rose Hall. On 2 occasions we saw her refuse entry to misappropriately guests, which impressed me. People should not be dressed in pool/beach wear for evening dinner. Also ate in all 3 specialised restaurants which are very good. Entertainment staff, WOW do they work hard, especially around the pool and showtime in the evening. Brilliant, colourful, professional dancing. Special mention to Triple X, who we had a long chat one day around the pool and excellent dancer at the shows. No problem finding sunbeds around the pool and on the beach, lots of shade around pool if needed. All entertainment, waiting, cleaning, gardening, bar, chefs worked so hard and make this hotel an exceptional place to stay and enjoyable holiday. Only bad point - smoking rules that hotel management have made are not enforced by staff, there are designated smoking areas around the hotel which a lot of smokers used but did see people smoking at the bar, pool, beach and balconies, all of which are strictly supposed to be non smoking. Summing up, excellent well enjoyed holiday and would definitely return.

    Beyond Brilliant!!!

We have just returned from an amazing and memorable two weeks in this hote,l where the staff go way over and above to make your holiday special. I've decided that all Jamaicans have been injected with HAPPY and I don't mean the stuff you smoke. Hotel facilities are second to none. The food was jaw droppingly mind boggling and despite some of the petty minded reviews on here I defy anyone to find anything they don't like. Too much choice is my only complaint. The waiting staff with a special mention to Jahmarie who would walk a mile with a smile to find you a tea spoon, were all incredible. Poolside was lively and entertaining, with the constant buzz from the entertainment staff but we chose to spend most our relaxation on the beach, with the "souvenir" guys paddling up and down in their kayaks. Loved watching the pelican diving in for fish - an added bonus. And as for the entertainments team who seem to work 36 hour days full of bounce, enthusiasm and energy, working endlessly and tirelessly, I cannot praise them enough. I could have easily watched the Michael Jackson show every night. All the entertainment team were professionals in their own right with a special mention to Damien, the Entertainment Supervisor, so hospitable and polite and Triple X...(THE best dancer in the world!!) Chocolate, Sunshine ...All the team were amazingly professional and extended their roles to please everyone - even in their down time ....with the couple of days rain. The trips are a must where we discovered that the politeness and hospitality of the Jamaicans extended to outside of the hotel too. We did the Dunn's River Falls and Rick's Cafe, the coolest bar on the planet for a beautiful sunset. Snorkeling over reefs is a must, seeing beautiful fish you only see in tanks back home. I did the SCUBA diving (with a special mention to Anne and Donovan...) saw sting ray and moray eel.. Totally incredible experience. Riu Montego Bay your staff are all a huge credit to you... Be very very proud of them all. They obviously enjoy working for you as much as we enjoyed holidaying with you. You far exceeded our expectations - which were high enough anyway. Thank you... !!
