Fantastic hotel and staff
My girlfriend and I stayed at the Riu Lupita for two weeks in September 2019. We had the most amazing time, the food was great (I ate my bodyweight in guacamole and nachos) the staff were first class, especially Carlos behind the bar (who's cocktails had me smashed more than I care to remember) and Jorge who was the scuba guy by the pool, to name a few. The rooms were comfortable and cleaned every day- what more can you ask for? We did a few trips, one to Holbox and one to Tulum- both fantastic, although really expensive, I'm glad we booked through a third party as TUI was extortionate!! Other days we either went to the sister hotel for the beach (no seaweed when we visited) or made our own way into Playa del Carmen - both were also excellent. I honestly don't have a bad word to say about Riu Lupita or Mexico as a whole and wouldn't hesitate to go back. We loved it!!
It was one of the great experience of my life I really enjoyed it with my family. All hotel staff is a friendly. I meet BRENDAN he was a super nice helpful person. Every night they have live programs singing dancing cultural programs are super nice. Thanks everyone 😊😊
Great time , nice hotel not as big as tequila or others but staff nice and food etc , not on beach have to catch a 15 min bus but still ok,really nice flight incoming and returning great experience with tui , been Mexico 3 times previously and Thailand with them but the rep (David who just started representing riu lupita was not the best rep , seems disinterested and not at all bothered about you , we knew more about the place then him! We booked two trips with him and wished never gave him the commission he made from it as he’s lack of interest (not friendly manner was shocking tui need to have a look at his customer relation skills and employability , worst rep ever ! But that’s just the rep not the holiday nice place would recommend as Mexico is amazing
Two Family Vacation
Just came back from this lovely little resort. The week we spent there was very enjoyable! Pros: - The Staff! Everyone was so pleasant and cheerful! - Lots of places to sit at the main bar to find shade - We were a group of 8 and never had a problem sitting together (restaurants, beach loungers or around the pool) - the variety at the buffet was loved by all, even those with dietary restrictions had plenty to choose from - we loved meeting people from all over the world. this resort had the most variety of travellers we have ever met - shuttle to the beach with a stop to the entrance of 5th Ave was very punctual and even saw it stop for people when they flagged it down Cons: - No Wait staff ... we missed having the chance to order from the pool side or even just at a table by the main bar - we all found the beds extra firm... not to comfy... so no sleeping in - the mini bar fridge in the room is only stocked every other day... hard to stretch 3 beer and a couple pepsi that far for a family... - no bar near the “quiet” pool - night club was way way too loud and there was never anyone in there this resort holds too some of our highest standards ... we did meet a few couples that didn’t realize how many families with young kids would be there and one of them even moved to the Riu Yucatan to see if they’d get a different experience
Wonderful resort even better people
The best asset this resort has are people working there. From pick up at airport to drop of at same airport everything was wonderful. Check in was easy and very friendly. Since resort has many small buildings and I have some difficulties taking stairs I asked girl at the reception desk for ground level room and she gave me wonderful room very close to restaurant and pool but facing park so it was very quiet. I stayed for 2 weeks and I was there for Christmas I did not have single complain. RIU has high standard and this resort wasn't exception. Everything is very, very clean. Resort is not on the beach, but they have shuttle bus to the beach every 30 minutes and restaurant and bar there so that wasn't a problem for me. My room was cleaned daily and it was spotless. Day after I got there I received call from reception desk asking if everything is OK and if I need anything. Restaurants are clean and they offer good variety of nice food. Bar has good choices of drinks and my favorite was cappuccino they make wonderful cappuccino. They also offer a variety coffees with fire show. I tried once a Mexican coffee, show is great but coffee is too sweet for my taste. All employees are friendly and always trying to help. Of course they appreciate tip but they would treat you very well even if you do not give tip. After day or two all bar stuff knew what I drink in the morning and what I drink at the evening/night so they will have my drinks ready quickly. Entertainment was great and they do their best to have great shows. For me the very best show was Aztec Fire dance. That is something hard to explain it has to be seen. Tip for smokers: at the gift shop you can buy cigarettes for $8 US per pack but they have offer of 3 packs for $20. All together it was for me another great experience at RIU. I will go to RIUs any time I could.
