The gentleman on reception when we checked in was outstanding. Service throughout the hotel, restaurants and bars was first class. Rooms were well appointed and comfortable. A couple of problems though. My toilet broke and it took 3 complaints and 30 hours to get it fixed. We ran out of soap in the shower dispensers, and our mini bar was only re-stocked on the last day of the holiday and at that time only with water.

This is the low end Riu. That means you have lower levels of service such as no pool or beach service, you have to get your own drinks. Also, the evening shows are pretty cheaply done. The room was small but adequate. We had one king bed so still a bit of room to move around. Fridge was refilled every second day. Rius have good food and this was no exception. Veal, lamb, pork loin all in the buffet. One could argue some food in the a la cartes could be found in the buffet. Pools were fantastic although a bit worn. When they re-do the resort, I expect them to rip out the beautiful pools and replace them with small rectangle ones like the Vallarta which will be a shame if it happens. As for the beach, it is almost perfect. You would be hard pressed to find a nicer beach set up.

Fantastic Stay Great Value
This hotel has everything you need from plenty of food options and restaurants to large pools and clean rooms. The hotel is an older property but will be undergoing major renovations at the end of summer but service is great, the food tastes really good and literally there are things to do all day long. The activity team is top notch and the Friday evening party was phenomenal. You will enjoy your stay now and even more after the renovations are complete. I look forward to returning soon.

Enjoyable family vacation
We brought our family here to celebrate our children’s milestones. I was surprised at how new resort looked, having stayed here 19 years ago. We were pleased with the attentive and friendly staff, high quality entertainment, good dining options, nice pool and beach areas; and easy access to nearby towns and cities. We will definitely return to this resort in the future. It is a midrange resort in terms of food quality but still good.

While the staff were moderately friendly and the food was okay, the hotel is old and not well maintained. Our family had three rooms and the ac in all three had issues. Our room Smelled very badly of mold and mildew and the ac would not go below 24 degrees Celsius. I would not stay here again and question the Riu family of resorts if this is representative of the friendliness and quality
