The impressive Riu Caribe, with its Mayan-style architecture overlooking the crystal-blue waters of the Mexican Caribbean, is the perfect site for a fantastic vacation. Riu Caribe features 506 luxurious ocean-view guestrooms with unique RIU amenities such as a mini-bar and liquor dispenser. 

The 24-hour all-inclusive feature includes a wide array of restaurants, bars, snacks, and beverages, as well as a fun and relaxing atmosphere created by the large swimming pool and a spectacular beach. Facilities include two freshwater swimming pools, a diving pool, a solarium-terrace, a gym, sauna, a steam bath, Jacuzzi, and the Renova Spa. Complimentary 24-hour WiFi is also available in the common areas of the resort (available in rooms for an additional charge). 

All meals and snacks are included at Riu Caribe. A hot and cold buffet is served for lunch as well as pizzas, pasta, salads, and assorted desserts. Dinners include buffets and dishes prepared on the spot with a theme buffet twice a week. àla carte choices include Mexican, Asian, and a Grill and Steakhouse. Each room boasts a minibar and liquor dispenser that is replenished regularly.

Greening Your Life: Part of the Apple Vacations Greening Your Life initiative, this property has implemented a sustainability system that has met criteria and has been approved by Travelife. All 10 Riu hotels in Cancun and Riviera Maya, Including Riu Caribe, have obtained a Travelife rating of Gold. This is the highest rating in the Travelife Sustainability System implantation. 

Aside from the use of biodegradable cleaning products, the resort uses environmentally-friendly fabrics and recycles organic waste to generate compost conditions. A waste management plan has also been approved by local authorities. This includes replacing small, one-portion packages with bulk products to create less waste and use less trash bags, and appointing a hazardous waste manager who is in charge of collecting printer, toner, and photocopiers. Vegetable oil is also recycled and reused.

An awareness campaign has been started by placing posters of good environmental practices in different areas of the hotel. A Green Book has also been developed, where guests are invited to participate in caring for the environment through the development of sustainable activities.

    Amazing 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

    We are currently coming to the end of our 11 night stay at the RIU Caribe and have had THE best time ! We are a family of 4 , children aged 16 and 10. We asked for adjoining rooms on a high floor and luckily we were allocated rooms on the 9th floor which have amazing views of the sea. The rooms are huge with large shower rooms ( the showers are really powerful too). The food has been great we have mainly used the Albatros restaurant which is self serve due to my daughter being such a fussy eater and the choice of food is phenomenal, the waiters are keen to get you your drinks as soon as you sit down( whether u tip them or not ) and are so friendly. The pool and beach area are well maintained with people sweeping up the seaweed and cleaning around the people daily. The entertainment is on nightly from around 8:30pm until 10:30pm and is done by the entertainment team, who are excellent and work tirelessly all day/every day to make sure you are having the best time. Our favourite nights were the beach party and the rock night ! Every Thursday there is a foam party in the pool which our children absolutely loved !!! The quality and service at this hotel is 5 star and we will definitely be returning. Top tip - go and see Ricardo in the towel hut if you are thinking of booking any excursions, he is so helpful and much cheaper than the TUI reps.

    We stayed here during early August Once we arrived, we were checking in and payed $13 environmental tax which was well worth it as the beach was amazing each day. We were located on the 6 floor and as soon as we stepped into the room we were dissatisfied. The wardrobe has hole where wood had been missing, this was a minimal problem compared to the room size as we were 3 guests and requested another bed which wasn’t there on arrival but came eventually. The shower was great and powerful and the bathroom was a good size. The beds were comfy and a decent size. The bar and fridge were well stocked every other day. On our tv we could only get 3 English channels most about news in the day and crime in then night. Food was average but please be aware of the birds in the outside restaurant as they at time sit on the open food or help themselves. Definitely more staff were needed at peak eating times but the staff couldn’t be nicer. The main pool was an ok size and never overly crowded but if you look more closely, mould was occurring on most tiles which also floated in the pool, the closer you look at the hotel the more decay you will see. The sea was clear almost every day from the exception of some seaweed which can be helped by cutting on carbon emissions. The beach had lots of seating and shade with people coming around trying to sell accessories and tours. I would of liked a rule of if you smoke there don’t throw the end in the sand, as the beach was full of them. Side note: there is a small pharmacy/shop to the left hand side of the hotel which had sweet and savoury selection but most items the prices are not shown so be aware that you can pay with dollars as well. It is cheeper here than the hotel store. I would highly recommended a massage from the lovely lady’s to the left of the jet skis. They charge 60 dollars for a full hours which is great compared to the spa which is 130 !!!! The hotel is never busy for some obvious reasons and not worth what they charge

    Staff amazing, location amazing, other guests - a let down!!

    What a lovely hotel in a great place! The staff work tirelessly to provide a great service. They literally work around the clock to provide a lovely hotel with a great entertainment programme. Positives: Friendly staff Wifi in all parts - even the beach! Fresh towels, daily... in room and for pool/beach Food and drink, 24/7 Branded spirits available - but you do have to ask and they are hidden in cupboards in some bars!!? Reception staff - helpful Cons Dining room - floor is like an ice rink on occasions - a combination of oily cooking and high humidity levels, paired with spillage from guests, made it a treacherous walk on occasions! Not all food was as warm as it should be Variety - hmm.... dishes were always similar, even in themed nights! And youd see the same stuff the next day!! Rolled up balls of cheese, clearly made from the crumbs left over from the nights previous... same for some prawn balls... !? Very off putting if I'm honest. Cleanliness of pool area - this, I dont believe is the fault of the staff, however the enforcement of some rules may go a long way... for example: Guests using the drinking cups to vomit in - then passing them up to bar staff to deal with, but dont worry, "she didnt vomit in the pool"... I watched a guest scraping the peeling skin from her husband's burnt back, and then him dunking below the water to "rinse it off". I mean, who does that!? Guests using cups as ashtrays Guests using the pool as an ashtray! Guests taking food from restaurant and eating whilst dipping their feet in the pool... not an issue in itself, until same guest 'slips' and his food goes into the pool... Guests leaving food by the side of the pool - again,not an issue - if it wasn't for the birds swooping down, defecating on the towels, beds etc,then eating off the plates... Birds in the pool bar area, literally sitting on chairs awaiting the ir opportunity to swoop... Blood on the stairs in reception (was there for 4 days prior to us leaving, and will probably still be there, now) The grout around the edge of the pool is black, and of course when disturbed, this black goo is loose and coating around the pool. Plasters floating in the pool - I witnessed 1 guest remover her plaster, dunk under the water and submerge without the plaster... again, I nearly vomited in the pool... (or nearest cup which it seems is acceptable). Broken tiles in pool/around edge. I got a cut toe off a broken tile, and lost the little heart from my bracelet after it became stuck in the broken grout. Gutted. I also lost a nail in the grout, too... Spilling drinks in the pool - common occurrence. By the end of the afternoon, there are so many drunk adults (and kids who have been bought drinks by drunk adults) in the tepid, dirty water, that how they pass any cleanliness tests, it is simply beyond me. Some of those adults hadn't left the pool in hours... what else where they depositing in the pool, I wonder... There is a green tide mark right around the edge of the pool, and it is simply not surprising. Staff endeavour to clean, and can be seen "hoovering" the pool early in the morning, but it is like a stick against a tidal wave of awfulness from guests who dont give a..... By day 9 I'd had enough, and spent the rest of my hol by the sea... only again it seems smokers have no idea of what is and isn't acceptable, and a family of 3 chainsmokers simply left their cig butts in the sand at their feet (along with empty water bottles, wrappers etc etc). I was quite glad they were ripped off by one of the beach vendors... who pays $20USD for a string with a fake plastic tooth on it!!?? 🤣 - I tell you who, someone who doesn't give a hoot about their reap what you sow!!! So... is this a 5 star hotel? Alas no. They couldn't be a 5 star hotel and allow the guests to behave the way they do. Something has got to change, however I did notice that in the time I got my wristband, to when we left 2 weeks later, the numbers printed on them had gone up by 1800+... it is clearly a successful hotel and curtailing the awful activities from some of their guests probably isn't top of their to do list - which is a great shame. We will return to Mexico, but not to this hotel - and it's not even their fault!!

    Amazing- would highly recommend

    We came here for 10 days and couldn’t recommend this place enough. The staff from start to end were incredible, very attentive and can’t do enough for you. The staff come around the pool and bar ensuring you have a drink, offering daily specials with both food and drink. The entertainment staff are brilliant, making sure there is always something to do. In the day there are activities for everyone including: water polo, yoga, volleyball, beach volleyball, Zumba, Aqua aerobics and daily competitions for both adults and children. The rooms are immaculate and cleaned everyday. The fridges are constantly refilled with bottles of water and fizzy drinks. The rooms include a bar which, again, is topped up when needed. The room bar includes: rum, gin, tequila and vodka, all of which are premium spirits. The breakfast buffet was our personal favourite, with everything being on offer and even a smoothie/ juice section where you can choose your own ingredients. The lunch food changes daily with barbecues and Mexican parties. There are three separate evening restaurants: Mexican, Asian and a steakhouse. The Asian became our favourite with us enjoying sushi. There is a 24 hour snack bar and pizzeria available so you are never hungry. The beach is literally a two minute walk from the pool, and is immaculate. There are lots of beach activities to do such as jet skis, however you did had to pay for this. They offer other activities such as scuba diving which my fiancé took part in, they gave him a full introduction and took him and others out to the national park to scuba dive. He said it was fantastic and extremely reasonably priced. Would highly recommend this! During the evenings they put on a variety of shows, with it being on a fortnightly rota, meaning you never see the same show twice if you visit for two weeks. There are also children’s shows earlier in the evening. The entertainment team also take you out of an evening to clubs which is great for people wanting to go on nights out. We booked to go to ‘Coco Bongos’ through the reps in the hotel and got a great promotion from them, $75 each for an open bar and transport there. We would definitely recommend booking through them as opposed to ‘TUI’ who were charging $145 each. We have absolutely loved staying here and will definitely be coming again. The staff have made this hotel for us; incredibly friendly. They made sure you were constantly having a fantastic time, and never went without. We cannot thank the staff enough for a brilliant holiday!

    Excellent Hotel and Location

    Stayed in July 2019, travelling for a special occasion we were allocated a room (979) on the top floor with excellent views, on arrival our suitcases were taken to our room by a member of staff and check in was speedy and stress free - which is important after a 10 hour flight. The room was lovely, spacious, clean, huge walk in shower and the views from the balcony were outstanding. All inclusive - this is very good, all the restaurants are included and you do not need to book in advance and we were never turned away. Drinks plentiful, there's guys by the pool and beach who bring you drinks to your lounger, mango tango is a must. The food is average all inclusive food never a bad meal but nothing to write home about, however, the pizzeria by the quiet pool was really nice. We went to the hotel zone nightlife area a few times, it's about a 5-10 minute drive and costs around 150peso. The hotel will call a taxi for you and it arrives pretty much immediately. I'd recommend a night at coco bongos, or congo bar both really fun but boozy nights. All the staff are really helpful, friendly and go out of their way to accommodate you. Great hotel, great location would recommend.
