This beachfront resort was newly refurbished in 2010 and lies on a seemingly endless white beach next to Riu Palace Macao and the Caribbean Sea. The Moroccan-style architecture, with mosaic domes, archways, and white columns with fanned palm trees, adds glamour and distinction. A magnificent pool with a swim-up bar shaded by another dome faces the turquoise sea. 

Riu Bambu is the perfect place for families; the kids' pool features a special water play area! RiuLand Mini-Club provides activities for kids ages 4-12. Adults will enjoy the casino and free entrance to the disco. Complimentary 24-hour WiFi is also available in the common areas of the resort (available in rooms for an additional charge). 

Adults also have their own entertainment activities throughout the day. Water sports, such as windsurfing, sailing, kayaking, and body boarding are included! One introductory scuba diving lesson in the pool is also included. Every evening, enjoy live music and shows. 


Your palate will be delighted with the many dining options available. Guests can partake in Asian, Italian, International buffet, and Grill Steakhouse cuisine.     Resort = all looks, BAD service

    Stay away large groups!! We stayed here as a wedding party of 35 people PROS: •Clean/nice looking resort •Beach was beautiful •Would recommend for couples •Lobby buffet was good •Some staff was friendly, others were rude and weren’t in a hurry to do anything •WiFi was good •Rui pool party was fun - shoes were stolen •Our bride and groom did not get married on this resort (book your wedding at Jelly Fish beach restaurant!) CONS: •Bride and groom were put in a standard room because they over booked their private villas •They didn’t have a family in our wedding party in their computer system •My boyfriend left his cellphone in the sports bar the night we arrived - we ran back and asked the bartender if someone turned it in, “no phone here”, a kind vacationer heard and told us it was behind the bar, “ohh this phone...” we went and complained to reception but she did not care. Very untrustworthy! •24h “Snack bar” - old buffet food: burgers, hot dogs sandwiches and nachos - the cheese is kept in a cupboard uncovered •Palm Beach Steakhouse: We wanted to book a table for 21 people (wedding party) here for a rehearsal - the Reception told us everyone who wanted to eat here had to line up starting at 5pm to book, our party was third in line, we heard the first person (which was only 1 person booking!) say a table for 31 people, the workers would NOT reserve another large table for us! We demanded for a manager as to why we were not aloud as there was still many tables left, the manager was disgustingly RUDE to us and was laughing in all of our faces - they would not tell us the GMs name, number or email, our group was arguing with them for an hour - as another worker started to reserve people standing in line behind us taking or potential tables! (Photos attached of workers involved in argument - A no name-tagged lady worker, Angelo, Hilario, and JOSE M - the ‘manager’) these people should be spoken to •All staff needs a lesson on hospitality •All buffets will not reserve large groups unless every person is there!! (One person can NOT go and ask for a table for 20+ for a certain time, UNBELIEVABLE, they made us get everyone together to reserve at the Spanish restaurant - very difficult) •No fresh pasta bar, pizza bar or omelette bar •Not accommodating to large groups/weddings •Large resort - lots of walking •80% of our group of 35 had Travellers diarrhea •Lots of confusions on how to book a la carte dinners (even for 2 people) •Rooms nice, but odd layout- AC is locked on 19C, woke up every night shivering with only 2 thin blankets, no walls for bathroom - shower stall only a couple steps away from the bed, you will wake your partner up showering, blow drying your hair and even washing your hands, toilet is in separate room the size of a closet •Shower was clogged •No elevators At this resort their motto is “come back later” Would NOT return to this hotel or recommend!

    Great holiday

    Me and my friend (we are in our early 20s) just came back from a weeks stay at Riu Bambu and we had a great time. I was quite worried after reading some bad reviews on here but I had absolutely nothing to worry about! Firstly all the staff are amazing, the waiters, reception staff, animation team! So attentive (and we didn’t carry money with us for tips). They always wanted to make sure you had a great time. We had an issue with our shower drain being blocked, told reception and someone came to the room in 10 mins to fix it. Our room was nice and modern, cleaned daily and mini fridge restocked every other day. The only negative I would say is that I would prefer hand wash from a dispenser rather than a bar of soap, also the towels and sheets always seemed to smell a bit fusty? Maybe these need replacing. The resort itself is huge, but our room (1301) was in a great place being a short walk to the restaurants, pools and the beautiful beach. Even though the resort was so busy we could always get a sunlounger at the pool or beach, even if we came down at 11am. The food was very good, main buffet restaurant had loads of variety and you could always find something to eat. We mainly ate there, but visited the Asian restaurant once which was really tasty but we both had diarrhoea afterwards so didn’t go back. We ate at the steak restaurant once too which was ok but nothing to shout about. You also had to queue to get a reservation at the steak place and it wasn’t really worth it. The entertainment on an evening was a bit hit and miss but the Riu pool parties were fun. We booked two excursions - the Catalina island trip and Caribbean boogies. My advice would be to book these from one of the guys on the beach as you can bargain for a good deal, rather than organising it with the tour operators who charge extortionate prices. Overall our stay was great.

    Excellent

    This hotel was amazing. The grounds and rooms were clean beautifully kept. The maid staff did an amazing job the pools were great and love the fact that this hotel did not kick people out of the pool like other hotels they let u stay in the pool as long as you werent acting like fool. The beach was clean and beautiful. The food was excellent The steakhouse was great the buffet offered different food everynight and the entertainment team was the best out of all the hotels i ever stayed in. They were fun always smiling and dancing. Always interacting with adults and kids Me and my family will def be coming back to Riu Bambu Only thing i didnt like which is minimal is that there shower bathroom area is not inclosed only the toilet hard to get out of shower and have my daugther and son turn there head while i get dressed or have to get dressed by the toliet But like i said we had an amazing time and the hotel staff and in generally gets a 5 stars from me and my family

    Sick

    I took precautions to not brush my teeth using tap water or even open my mouth in shower. I always used hand sanitizer before eating and was picky with my selections as some meat and fish was undercooked . I still ended up with a bad bacterial infection and became very ill. My daughter ended up with a mysterious rash and diarrhea as well. They couldn’t keep up with dishwashing and Dishes were often dirty but other than that everything was kept clean. The alcohol in the minibar tasted and smelled like poison so I spit it out and did not drink it plus they were opened bottles so I didn’t trust them. Housekeeping did a good job. Staff was kind though definitely not in any hurry .

    Our second stay and the new buildings are a positive improvement. Highly recommend.

    I stayed here two yrs ago prior to the renovation and again this month. Both times with extended family/children. The new area with a swimming pool and buildings block 4000/6000etc are a good addition to the site but I do think they could utilise the Mexican restaurant as a snack bar during the day for pool users.seems crazy that is only used in the evening. Staff in all areas are helpful and polite although it was clear the bar service was different if you gave a tip. The drinks were also different dependent on who served you. Could be better if there was a level of consistency with each drink.The last week of our stay we noticed several bosses circulating and this had we felt an impact on the service the staff provided. Our rooms were different to what was expected having booked through Tui but the hotel provided us with another option quickly enough. Halfway through the stay we had an issue with one of the rooms which when reported to the rep and maintenance was sorted out quickly. Great addition having the back gate entrances as a short cut to carribean street. I'm presuming they are new as never noticed them two years ago but I may be wrong. The Asian restaurant (behind the main dining area) and the Steak House was our favorite and service and food were excellent. This is a good addition to the main buffet section in the big Hall in the reception area. Dissapointed in the Gourmet restaurant Kilnarium. That was poor and food was obviously plated prior and heated as four different dishes came out in less than ten minutes, not very hot and the shrimp which was replacement for the lobster was unidentifiable. We observed a large party walk out and another party like us walked out mid way through the meal.Very dissapointing dining experience and staff were not too friendly . This is a fab place, with a great beach and amenities. The weather was great and very very hot. Take plenty of sun cream and mozzie spray. We had to use the local doctor service and this was quickly accessed and dealt with. The trips were very good although I would say if you have small children make sure you check on times and accessiblity as some are long days and transport is not really suitable For young ones. Really good experience overall and will come back again.We had no issues with the alcohol in the mini bars.
