BOOK IT! You will LOVE IT!

This is our second time at this resort and WE CONTINUE TO LOVE IT! We stayed in June of 2023 for my husband’s 40th and came back this year for my 40th. This will ALWAYS be our resort of choice! Here’s why: 1.) The people! The team is so warm, accommodating and focused on making sure you have a great time! SANTUSHA from room service is a wonderful soul and GEM. She is focused on making sure everything is perfect and her service is impeccable. GIORDINO from L.G. Smith’s Steakhouse is phenomenal! We were so happy to see him again this year and he is just amazing. 2.) The location! It is perfect for those looking to enjoy activities and food that is in walking distance. I loved being able to sit in my room and chill but also have the option to get out and not have to travel far to walk, dine, shop, etc. 3.) The VIEW! We have opted for the ocean front view room twice and I LOVE IT. Beautiful sunset view, water view, you can watch the airplanes land, the fish in the ocean, the constant breeze. You can’t go wrong! 4.) The private island and cabanas! We treated ourselves to two days at the island in the cabanas. KENDRICK was AWESOME! He made sure we had everything we needed while he was there. Robert and Ronaldo were amazing as well! I loved being able to enjoy the island but mainly enjoy our own private space with food and drink. I recommend that everyone try the cabana experience! You won’t be sorry! Overall, for everything we want in a vacation this resort has it! WE WILL BE BACK AGAIN!

    Trip with 4 toddlers!

I spent 4 nights here with my toddler (2 years old) and his three cousins (all 1 year old) with their parents. Our party was 12 people total, each family unit with separate rooms. You can request to have rooms on the same floor. This review is focused on the Ocean Suites experience with toddlers, all-inclusive package via Costco. The Marina Tower is farther inland and is for adults only. The Ocean Suites have direct access to a small beach area, and the view is very beautiful compared to the Marina building which is about two blocks away. Make sure you tell the shuttle driver to drop you off at Ocean Suites because ours took us to the wrong building at first. The staff is super helpful and got us transportation with all our luggage straight away. You will be walking between these two buildings a lot, especially because the buffet restaurant (Aquarius) is only located at Marina Tower. Google Maps doesn't do a good job at differentiating the distance between these two spots, we had no idea until we got there how far apart they are. It's about less than a 10-minute walk between Ocean Suites and Marina Tower (with kids!), but you do have to cross a street and it may be very hot during the day. Highly recommend bringing a stroller since most of the good restaurants are at Marina. The Sole pool bar at Ocean Suites has food most hours of the day, but the wait time can be long depending on how busy they are (40min-1 hour!). Look at the open hours for the restaurants at each location and plan your meals accordingly because there are gaps during the day where places are closed, or you just don't want to pack up and hike over to Marina Tower. Also, you'll have to make reservations for LG Smith Steakhouse in advance of your trip since you are competing with other people who want to eat there and are not staying at the Renaissance. The resort does not offer free sand toys for kids. People buy toys but they don't want to lug it back home, so they leave it at the towel rental and parents will bring it back, but it really doesn't belong to anyone and it's first-come, first-served. Pro tip: bring your own collapsible beach buckets and toys, it'll take up less space in your luggage! We met very nice families during our trip who let us borrow toys to keep the kiddos occupied (I brought some small toys as well). The kids room near the check-in desk was also great, though we only used it at the end of our trip waiting for the departure shuttle. Overall, the hotel staff and housekeepers were very accommodating and friendly. The room layout and access to a sink, mini fridge, microwave, and some kitchen supplies were great. The private island experience with flamingos was wonderful and very kid-friendly. Take a stroll and check out the adult beach on the island too, it has a quieter vibe and different landscape to see wildlife (flamingos, fish, iguanas). Walk behind the Papagayo Grill towards the fitness center and you might see a flamingo nesting area! You may also see a baby nurse shark swimming around at Iguana beach (the family side) which was amazing! Snorkeling was also good, there were more fish by the rock barrier.

A resort with its own island 🏝️

We chose the Renaissance Ocean Suites to celebrate our 20th anniversary and it did not disappoint. Access to Flamingo Island was fantastic. We spent a lot of time exploring, snorkeling, and relaxing. The island has equipment that you can borrow for the day like snorkel gear and rafts. You can book a massage, use the exercise room. Highly recommend and hope to return in the future.

    Marina Hotel

We stayed in the adults only marina hotel. We were there for my company’s award trip. I’ve attended several of the award trips and this was my least favorite location. I’ve also visited Aruba prior to this stay but stayed at a different property. We stayed in a king size bed room with view. The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. We appreciated our own thermostat because the majority of the hotel was hot and extremely humid. The two elevators were like a steam sauna. Our room had very little storage with one tiny closet and a small dresser. Our room had a small refrigerator, coffee maker and safe in the closet. The infinity pool is beautiful but small. The casino inside the hotel was clean and inviting. Most of the slot machines are computerized slots. We found only 2 traditional slot machines. We visited the sister property (family suites) for a company beach party. I think the family property has better amenities than the marina hotel. Easy access to the beach and a much bigger pool. We also visited the island for a company dinner and it was stunning. Such a beautiful atmosphere with excellent catering. On our off day, we went back to the island. Iguana side is adults only, flamingo side is for families. Beautiful island with clean beaches. The only crabby person I encountered during our trip was the man at the floating mat shack. He was rude and looked like he hated his job. Everyone else at the island was super friendly and welcoming. Since the resort is all inclusive and my company paid for our meals, we ate all of our meals on the property. Aquarius is a well-stocked buffet with really good food. I wish the hotel had vending machines so we could buy chips and soda for our room. After going to dinner and visiting the casino, we went back to our room. We both agreed we would have loved a can of Coke and a bag of chips. We had special bracelets that we wore during the entire stay. We were told employees could scan our bracelets for meals, drinks and using the water taxi. When we tried to use the water taxi, the employee refused to accept our bracelets as proof and made us dig through our beach bag for our room keys- yes keys. Two passengers and each had to have a room key. I think this property is on the right path because the employees are truly outstanding but I think they need more training regarding policies such as the bracelets and keys. If you are looking for a room right on the beach, the marina hotel is not for you unless you are willing to walk to the sister property. We will definitely visit Aruba again (as a matter of fact we are coming back in September) but I think we will stick with a property right on the beach.

Excellent trip May 28 to June 11 2024

We have been going to Aruba off and on for the past twenty four years. We have mostly stayed at the Radisson/Hilton but last year we stayed at the Marriott Stellaris and now we won't stay anywhere else. I did a review on the hotel under Marriott Stellaris for those who are interested. We mainly have breakfast, get a palapa and stay on the beach until time for dinner. This year we rented a car for four days. The first day we got used to the car and the roundabouts and made a trip to Superfoods to pick up carottes and apples for the Donkey Sanctuary. We also brought treats for the resident cats. This is our second time and it was such fun. This year we also spent two day volunteering at Sargent Peppers and Nine Lives. At Sargent Peppers we sat with the dogs and let gave them love and got them used to being with people. The workers don't have much time to doe that. At Nine Lives we cleaned cages and filled water dishes with clean water. We also had a chance to hold a few kittens. We brought some food that is hard to find on the island and some carriers for sending the puppies home that were adopted. We had volunteered to bring an animal back to the states but it didn't line up with their needs. As you can tell we love animals and had a great time. Aside from those activities it was beach and eat. I'll list our restaurants and give a brief report: Elements- First night we go for the sunset. Not great sunsets when we were there but lovely anyway. I love the Mango chicken and service is always great and prices are reasonable. Chophouse- We went last year and the Churrasco was fabulous. this year we asked for medium with a pink center. It was bloody but tasted good. We decided to go back another time and told our waiter what had happened. We had Harold, who has been our waiter for years, and he told us he would make sure our steaks were perfect. This time they were a little overcooked and stuff. Very disappointing. Quinta Del Carmen- I had Red Beet and Goat Cheese salad and Sucade Lappens for entre. Both were delicious and good service. Wilhelmina- Love the setting in the garden and the service. I had Lobster Bisque and Frank had Gorgonzola salad. We both chose the fish special, a sea bass with the catch #1 preparation. So good as usual. Mercat- We tried based on reviews and the fact that we were staying at the Marriott. We were not thrilled with the food. As a started we had the chicken sliders but it was more like chicken sandwiches. They were tasty but way too much food. We ordered the fish for our entre and it was dry. Bavaria- We shared potato pancakes, so good. I had Sauerbraten and Frank had Beef Goulash. Everything delicious. Service so friendly and reasonable prices. Yemanja- The phyllo dough with goat cheese is mouth watering. I had the Grouper with boursin cheese. Everything was good as well as service and atmosphere. Chicken and Lobster- New restaurant for us. We had lobster bisque and steak and lobster, both very good. The entertainment made this an exceptional night. TNT entertainment. Debby Wesselo & Tim Hope. They aren't there every night. They had good voices but they got the audience involved. I was pulled up to dance to Proud Mary. Such a fun night. Lucca Trattorio- Good reasonable food and service. I had chicken parm. Chalet Suisse- We always dined here but haven't been back for several years due to bad reviews. We decided to give it another try and so glad we did. I don't remember what I ordered but it must have been good as I plan to go back next year. Madame Janette's This is our favorite and we went twice. The first time there was a steel drum player that was excellent, the second a guitar player who was very good. We always share the bang bang shrimp appetizer. I lover the original almond crusted grouper. I always want to try something new but love this so much I keep ordering it. Can't wait until next year. I'll be glad to answer any questions.
