    Amazing Beach

Amazing Beach !!! This is my second time to this resort. This Resort has changed management and groomed it to be more polished and refined to be a quiter resort that does close the pool at 6 pm every evening. I will say this was something that disappointed me as the transition from beach to pool at dark is my most favourite thing. However, the Resort is spectacularly close to the beach and the staff all work hard to make your stay magical! I would like to give a shout out to the Beach Manager Hervick for going an extra mile for our time on the beach❤️.. was nice for my friend Judy to have a sectioned off decorated hut for her birthday!! - also the bartenders Cruz Y, Luis were the greatest hosts and always worked hard to make our favourite drinks- including the unfamiliar “muff diver” ..LOL... I enjoyed you-tube teaching u guys!! Thanks and will be back soon! Seniorita Naomi

    Overrated/ too expensive/ Boring

I went by myself. I am a 33 years old woman and the majority of the people there were older in their fifties or families. I stayed at the Altitude tower. My room was very nice( Ocean front view). Clean room but room service food was bad. There is no entertainment or activities on the resort. They kept playing the same song over and over again at the pool. I told them it kept repeating the same song and they didn’t do nothing about it. It was really annoying! They don’t make an effort to create an atmosphere. It was very boring. Its not a good place to go by yourself... the bartenders at the pool bar weren’t friendly. It was pretty much empty all the time. No music at any other bars. The food was bad, the drinks either too sweet or too sour. No straws at all so bring your own cause its hard to drink a drink with crushed ice with no straw. I thought overall it was a clean resort. Very few choices of food and quality is not there for the price. It’s way too expensive for what you get. It is a very small resort. I went out once at night at one of the clubs but it was very overcrowded and mostly Mexicans or people from Panama. Very expensive to go out there, Bad service and not very friendly especially when you don’t speak spanish. The beach was nice but not as nice as Cuba. I personally would not go back there. I thought it was overpriced for what you get (except the beautiful room and view). I was bored and it wasn’t a good resort to meet people especially if you are in your thirties. One of the bartenders when i got there at the Altitude Bar tried to scam me by giving me back a fake 5$ US so be careful. The waves were really strong on the first days and it was even a little dangerous even tho i am a good swimmer. I went under a couple of times. they got calmer so at least that was nice. Everything is very expensive there if you wanna go out at night or do any activity. The food at the breakfast buffet is disgusting (how many nachos plates do you need in the morning? Or cheap quesedillas?cheese doesn’t even taste like cheese. Eggs dont even taste like eggs. Even the drinks are bad! And i tried pretty much all of them. The only meal i really enjoyed was Risotto but the risotto plate was so small it was like a kid’s portion. Almost no deserts or like ice cream? deserts at the coffee place were so dry and no taste. Half the food there is ceviche. I am disappointed because i spent a lot of money on this trip and i couldn’t wait to get back home honestly!

    Anniversary RipOff

First off let me say I booked my trip thru United Vacations. It was my Husbands Bday(Dec 5) Our anniversary and my Bday is Dec 14th. Since Tripadvisor reviews had already prompted me when I check in to ask for the upgraded tower..I did. We checked in about 4pm and went to the room to see how it looked before going to the Altitude tower which is the upgrade. The bed was basically on the floor and there was (1) elevator and that side of the resort felt very old, so I asked again to be upgraded since I was celebrating something very special to me. The front desk lady said I have to speak with my supervisor. This is where is gets ugly!!! The supervisor says If you give me 235.00 a day I will move you, My jaw dropped and said what? I could not believe she was a supervisor, the other front desk workers could not believe she was gonna charge us that as well. We stayed 5 days so that was 1100+, I refused and asked could we see another room on the old side. This time they showed us the 14th floor where the room would have taken at least an hour to get to the room with (1) elevator and did I tell you the elevator has no AIR! When I came back to the front desk the lady had wrote 131 on a small piece of paper and told me we could stay on the upgraded side for 131.00 a day. I was so mad and disgusted but my husband was like lets try to make the best of it. I told them It was my anniversary and tried to show them my marriage certificate since you need proof and no one ever took it. Complementary bottle of champaine and breakfast in bed for a day for ppl celebrating anniversaries. I had to call United Vacactions on that one.I knew I couldn't sleep on the floor and told my husband lets just pay the 525.00 and get some good rest in a descent hotel. It just makes me wonder was the supervisor gonna pocket the other 525.00 dollars. The Altitude tower is really nice so upgrade if you go there but United should have told me I would have to pay because what about my other room that wasn't slept in? The beach is really nice and pretty. The food choices are not good, I could only eat so many French Fries. The buffet was not good either. Please these reviews are honest, Im telling the truth. The Bell Boy's are nice the front desk sucked, I hated even walking by there. The pools are nice, I swam in the infiniti pool yesterday my last day, Thank Goodness. My transfer said to be picked up at Krystle Reflect and so I walked next door to Krystle Reflect and of course, the shuttle never showed up and I had to pay for a taxi to the airport after already having this taken care of... Just Happy to be home..

    Hustle

This all inclusive is run like a hotel, not an all inclusive. The beach is the best I have ever seen... anywhere. Paul, the Concierge, would be the first one I fire. Made every morning a nightmare. So let's get through the Good and the Bad. Good: Beach is AMAZING. Soft white sand, crystal clear water, can float for days. Wait staff is attentive. View from our room, #123, was second to none. Pool area on ground floor was clean and inviting. Water was very cool and refreshing. Spa- Massage was the best I have ever had. Relaxing, great aromatherapy, clean. We did a couples room massage. My boyfriend has long hair and he left with a french braid. LOL. Catch of the Day- Grill- Seabass with Chiles and Garlic. First day, the best meal of the week. Risotto at Risotto- excellent. Bad: Did I mention Paul the Concierge.... you have to go through this guy to make dinner reservations. We were there every morning at ten to nine. Nine is when the reservations start. He talks on the phone, types quite a few things, goes through his desk for that magic slip of paper everyone called the "golden ticket". He did this routine on every transaction. Ugh. Then we arrive at the restaurant at our chosen time and huh the restaurant is empty. What???? Check in: after a long day of travel, we arrive at 2:30ish. After a hustle at the airport over a "time share breakfast" and a "tour of the resort" by an escort, we are ready to unpack and change clothes. Leave your luggage at the front door. Oh no, our room isn't ready. What do you mean it isn't ready- check in is at 3. 4:30 we finally get the nod from Paul. Our bags were gone through for sure- nothing taken. Every day after that, we were called or stopped by name and asked when we would attend the breakfast. Seriously. Walking into one of the lobby shops, I was asked if I needed something as she blocked the entrance. Huh? Pool bar- was to open at 10am. Staff arrived religiously after 10:30 am. One time, they were having a staff meeting at The Grill. Room Service food is horrible. Delivery guy is a trip. No good drinks. Only one red and one white wine to choose from by the glass. Other than that, you buy a bottle that is 3x the price of a USA bottle. The red wine you could light on fire. All the premium liquor bottles are for show. No Patron. No Absolut. No Frangelica. The struggle was real. No resort day or night activites except for a "high school" performance at best of a Mayan dance. One of the workers said it was horrific. I guess that's enough. Apparently this resort just turned hands and there were reps taking notes. We heard from other guests that they really love AmStar Resorts. This one was just not up to speed. Don't get me wrong- we had a great time but because we made that happen.
