    ALMOST 5 STARS

    The hotel in general is quite good, beautiful rooms, the buffet has good food but not as much as others I have visited; the a la carte restaurants have good food but the service is very slow. Now the worst thing we saw was that in the pool bars the glasses were recycled, they were "washed" in a transparent plastic bucket without detergent and quickly served drinks for other people, that is quite unhygienic, I ask you to observe this when you are at the hotel.

    Great Stay

    We had a great trip staying at this resort. The food was very good and the buffet was very convenient. We sat in Gerameel’s section of the buffet every morning for breakfast because he was so amazing! He works so hard and made us feel so comfortable. We will definitely visit again in the future.

    I wish I could give a better review

    Let’s see, where do I start. This will be a long review…. I would have loved to give this place at least a 4 but there were issues as soon as we arrived. We went here for my husband’s 40th birthday. I booked my room MONTHS ago but checked regularly to see if rates had gone down. When the rates went down, I made a new reservation and cancelled the old one. I received my welcome email, had a confirmation number and everything. I arrive to the resort on August 4th. Security checks their list and my name is nowhere to be found for guest arriving that day. They then tell us everything is fine and shows us where check in is located. We get to the check in desk and the gentleman assisting us (Mario) can’t locate our reservation. He starts to look puzzled and ask for my reservation number. I had a print out of the BOOKED reservation and my welcome email available that matched the same reservation number as my print out. Mario continued to look puzzled. No one is saying anything to us this whole time. Just puzzled looks and silence. So finally getting annoyed with the silence I asked when the problem was. I was ignored and they proceeded to start speaking in Spanish not aware that mu husband speaks and understands Spanish very well. Long story short, the resort had cancelled my reservation that morning. I still don’t understand the reason why. We asked for a manager and that’s when Emanuel came out to speak with us and proceeded to tell us that we were lucky enough to even be getting a room! We were completely outraged by this statement and exchanged a few more words with Emanuel about how displeased we were with his service and comments. I’ve never encountered such a poor attitude from management at a resort before. My rate was cheaper than the first one, but we were staying 5 days and still spending a significant amount of money on the room we selected. He then proceeded to tell us that there were no room available until 3 but then magically had a room ready for us… We stayed in room 5220…upon walking into the room it seemed like a very nice room but there were issues (pictures attached to see). I could immediately tell that the floor was dirty and had not been cleaned well, as I went to the sink, there were tons of ants on the counter. When we called the reception desk to request a room change, they told us there were no more rooms available which I know was a LIE because the resort was quite empty that week. They said someone would come spray for the ants, but they never did until we complained a second time with concierge. After complaining to Irene, we had our room thoroughly cleaned and the ants taken care of. There were still some issues with what appeared to be rust in several areas of the room (pictures attached). There was also a terrible smell that would come into our room at night. I couldn’t figure out what it was but like clockwork it would fill our room every night. Not sue if it was the seaweed or something else coming up from the sink and shower drains. You also can not change the air temp in your room. It was cool during the day but at night our room got warm. When we requested to have the A/C turned down more they were reluctant to change it. I had to let them know I had asthma and the stiff air was causing me breathing problems. While this was true, I felt like I shouldn’t have had to say all that to get my room turned down to only 1 degree! Nightly entertainment was fun and nice. The swim up bar and pool are nice but closed WAY too early for an all adult resort. The only pool bar on the platinum side closed at 6:00pm daily. There was also limited wait staff at the pool to order drinks. One day, I didn’t see anyone waiting at the pool for guest. Bathroom at the pool was gross and smelled like urine daily. The beach was awful, but the resort can’t control the seaweed. There was A LOT of seaweed. It smelled so bad, that it made me nauseous and unable to sit at the beach. You could walk down to the other resort but there were kids at the beach, and I selected an all adult resort for a reason. The resort isn’t responsible for the seaweed, but it seems like there would be some efforts into trying to clean it. If you want a nice beach this isn’t it. Food was decent. TAO and Rodeo Grill are the best. Aroma wasn’t that great and the selections there were a little weird. The buffet was ok. Breakfast was a little redundant. There was a different themed dinner every night. Seafood night was Thursday and they have all you can eat lobster. Grounds of the hotel were nice and well kept. The elevator to our rood had no light and was VERY hot! I didn’t work for one of the days we were there. The resort is relaxing. If you’re looking for an upbeat adult atmosphere this really isn’t the place. Maybe its different in the spring but the resort was very dead August 4-5. Most of the staff were very nice Irene, Sunday and Diego were the BEST! They definitely made up for our bad experiences with the other staff.

    Nice Grounds/Rooms/Buildings, but Bad Staff

    When I arrived, I was super excited to be staying there. The staff that I had met, at first, were friendly and welcoming. But as my time there progressed, I learned that some of the staff was not so great. Security... They are very strict about everything! And they don't do their job with a friendly attitude. They are rude and try to rule with an iron fist. Concierge/BellBoys.... Hit and miss. Some are really nice and some are just straight lazy. When my car service came to pick me up, the driver said that this was some of the worst concierge and bell boys that he's ever seen in the Cancun/Playa Del Carmen area. Reception.... The guy who received me was great! The girl who checked me out, not so great! I really wanted to like the place, but I cannot recommend staying there.

    Our best holiday!

    Stayed with my boyfriend end of july/early august for 2 weeks in a Deluxe swim out room. The room was fantastic, large in size and had everything you needed - only negative to the room was the damp smell but this is easily sorted if you leave the air con the entire time (tell reception you're keeping it on else the maids will turn it off). As for the swim out we loved but didn't make the most of it, had the room been in the sun the entire day and the bar tenders came more regularly (no fault of their own there is a lot of space to cover) then we would have loved it further. We often spent our days by the quiet pool (platinum side closest to the beach) and loved it there. The food was fantastic and we tried every restaurant available, definitely book the show table at TAO for something a little different. If however, you wanted to stick to the buffet then it changes each night and there is something for everyone there. We found the service was very good, tip in the morning at the pool and you're sorted for the day. We didn't spend any time on the beach as aren't beach people, there was seaweed when there however on our walks down the beach we didn't think the smell was as overpowering as people made out. The only time it did become a little stronger was after rain but it soon passed. We did venture to the other resort (shops are slightly cheaper) and used their ice cream parlour too which was fab - service there wasn't the best though. We took a walk to the sports park whilst there which was very quiet but still enjoyed our morning there. Overall, we had a fabulous holiday and have already discussed returning in the future.
