    Cheap visit not bad

    Do not gamble here. Do not count on great food. Weather is fantastic. If you like blackjack, this Is not your spot. If you love to eat great food, this is not your spot. Disappointed by services. Might be a good value. Won’t be a great service.

    Dated facilities, great service

    Recently attended for a conference in Nov 2019. When we first arrived check in was OK. Beautiful lobby and welcoming scenes; welcome drink, cotton candy for kids, etc. Part of the group I was with had booked to stay in the family area, however when we arrive we were informed that this entire section of the resort was closed. This was not the end of the world as we were there for the conference, but if you were travelling with family for the specific purpose of accessing this area, I could imagine this being a rather large obstacle and disappointment. Our initial rooms were gross; They were dirty, smelled like mould, and the furniture and decor was very dated and falling apart. The door to the room would not close without a body-check, and the patio doors (for ground floor room) were difficult to lock and could be opened from both sides. We immediately brought this up with the staff and asked what could be done to fix this. To my surprise, the staff stepped up and rectified the situation with grace and speed. We stayed the first night in the bad room as there was nothing nicer available at the time, but the next day we were moved to upgraded rooms which were much more spacious, clean, and secure. These rooms were closer to the pool and beach and smelled much nicer. We were also upgraded to the Royal Service package which gave us access to the lounge, adults only pool, etc. After this, our stay was pleasant. The service workers at the restaurant, pool, bars, and general groundskeepers were exceptional; super friendly and could not do enough to make sure you were happy. Big shout out to the Kids Zone workers who went over the top to make sure all the kids were having a great time, and keeping them safe and happy. The beach is beautiful, and the grounds of the resort are stunning. Very natural and tropical surroundings. Lots of greenspace, trees, and fresh air. Workers will happily fetch you a fresh coconut to drink. After the first hiccup, our stay was great, and I can't find much else to complain about. I am still not sure I would consider it a 5-star resort or property, there are lots of little things here and there (that don't necessarily ruin the stay, but should be standard at a 5-star property). It is also hard to say what our reflection would have been like had we not been upgraded. Overall I would say it is an OK spot, you could probably find better but you could definitely do a lot worse. All depends on what you are looking for from your resort and beach vacation.

    AWFUL with a capital "A"

    My room was "fine" but we had no hot water for the entire 5 days of our stay. Not even lukewarm. The washroom was infested with what appeared to be tiny ants. I had a jaccuzzi tub on my balcony but who wants to sit in a tub full of freezing cold water! The service was "okay" but no one moves at more than a snails pace. The some servers were very friendly; others, it appeared to be a bother if we requested anything. Ketchup was impossible to find and when we would ask once, we would then ask several times thereafter. The food! I have never gone on a vacation and lost weight but I did this week. The food is horrendous and everything, even hot items, are served cold. The variety is not there at all. What you see at breakfast is then turned into a casserole or has melted cheese on it to now be served at lunch and dinner. The Grill restaurant (advertised as a Steak House) was flat out disgusting. Having said that, Mole (Mexican Restaurant) was very good. Aqua (Italian) was blah and while the menu lists Chicken Cordon Bleu as an option, the chicken arrives with a tiny bit of cheese inside and no ham. I could go on and on. The beach is beautiful and the pool areas are well maintained. 1 million percent bring bug spray and a lot of it. With all the standing water, the resort is a mosquito factory. Overall, I would not visit again and would not recommend this resort for anything other than the beach and the pool.

    Good value for money but Very unpleasant situation caused by the Hotel pool staff (contradictory) rules

    The hotel has a very good structure and area (gardens). There are also some activities that occur by the pool in the afternoon and by the beach around 9 PM. Food is good and overally we found the hotel a very good value for money. However, we had a situation that made me take 1 star off the evaluation: Hotel guests do not respect a simple rule that are in the boards all over the pool: THE SUN-BEDS AND THE BEDS CANNOT BE RESERVED. The point is, the hotel staff does NOTHING to supervise and avoid the situation. "Smart" hotel guests wake up, put their personal belongings in the sun beds and go to sleep again/go have breakfast/whatever. Even "smarter" put their personal belongings the night before to reserve the sun-beds! And the hotel GIVES THEM REASON! There are also boards stating that "Towels and values found on the beds and sun-beds that have not been occupied for a period of 30 minutes will be automatically removed by our security staff..." -> NOT HAPPENING, STAFF DOESN'T CARE. One morning, after our breakfast, we arrived at the pool and realized that more than 20 sun-beds had towels and personal belongings. And there were 3 guests in the whole pool area! As there was no staff member at the time (8:40 AM), we took 2 of the 'reserved' sun-beds. 45 minutes later, a couple appeared and argued that they woke up at 6:30 AM to reserve those sun beds. We replied that reserving sun-beds was prohibited and the rule was in the boards. After some hours, they brought a staff member named Santo Polanco, who said that it IS possible to reserve the sun-beds until 10 AM!! THE POOL OPENS AT 7 AM!!! YOUR STAFF CONTRADICTS THE RULE AND ALSO GIVES REASON TO PEOPLE WHO ARRIVE AFTER AT POOL?? AND SAY THAT THEY CAN RESERVE SUN-BEDS FOR 3 HOURS?? "SMART" PEOPLE CAN SIMPLY THROW PERSONAL BELONGINGS AND GO ELSEWHERE FOR 3 HOURS, AND PEOPLE WHO WILL ACTUALLY USE THE POOL HAVE TO WAIT OR USE WORSE-FAR-FROM-THE-POOL SUN-BEDS? The staff has to follow the hotel rules, or the hotel has to change the rules in the pool boards. I don't remember having such uncomfortable situation in an hotel, because of its staff.

    Vacation with sis to PuntabCana

    This property is very beautiful and tropical. My sister actually stayed here a year ago. However, after going into a Jr Suite #2234 to be exact the bathroom was poorly maintained. Shower spout was hanging lose away from wall. The grout all around the tub was broken up and the knobs and fixation was old & a bit rusty. The drain stop in the bathroom sink was broken and disconnected. The ceiling in the entrance way to the bathroom was leaking. Not constantly but nevertheless I got dropped on from time to time. The suite was simply outdated and there was only one painting hanging but no other decoration. Truth is if the suite is simply upgraded to a more modern style and all plumbing corrected. This would have been a home run visit. Food was great and the grounds kept up very well. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Since I speak spanish as well as I do english there was no language barrier. This Paradisus cannot be called a 5 Star resort until they update the rest of the living quarters.
