Our stay at Paradisus Grand Cana
Our stay was great! The amenities at the Paradisus Grand Cana are amazing. We had a swim up room, and didn’t regret it. The main pool was very nice too! The staff were always friendly and happy to help with anything. Andres at the Origen restaurant always welcomed us so warmly, he treated us as family and made sure we were taken care of! Thank you, Andres!

Paradisus Grand Cana
Lovely hotel, staff are great. Pool staff not helpful. Bellboys don't acknowledge you and leave you standing around, which doesn't make you feel good. Rooms are beautiful and clean.

Terrible and money wasted
⸻ Disappointing Stay at Paradisus Grand Cana – June 2025 We stayed at Paradisus Grand Cana in Punta Cana in June 2025 as a family of four (2 adults and 2 kids), and unfortunately, the experience did not meet our expectations. Check-In & Room: The check-in process was long and frustrating. Our room was clean, with two double beds that barely fit our family. To make matters worse, the bathroom sink was clogged. We called for assistance, but no one ever showed up—my wife ended up unclogging it herself. The air conditioning was ineffective, making the room uncomfortably hot at night. Service & Staff: Most of the staff were friendly, but very few spoke English, which made communication difficult. We had constant issues with the restaurant reservation system. Despite trying to book dinners right after check-in for our entire stay, we were always told restaurants were fully booked. Yet when we showed up without a reservation, there were clearly open tables. Dining Experience: The specialty restaurants were mostly empty but had extremely slow service. On three occasions, we waited over 2–3 hours for food before leaving without eating—our kids were starving. It felt like the resort was trying to push guests into the buffet, which served the same limited menu every day. One day, we waited over 3 hours at the kids’ pool snack bar (only 2 other families were there), and ended up eating just an ice cream cone for lunch due to lack of service. Facilities & Layout: The main pool is 4.5 feet deep throughout, which isn’t ideal for younger kids. Unlike other all-inclusive resorts, there are no gradual depth options. The kids’ pool is a 10-minute walk or a shuttle ride away, which isn’t very convenient. The beach is even farther—about a 15-minute shuttle ride—and once there, we were constantly approached by vendors trying to sell tours and other services. Cleanliness & Hygiene: On the morning of our departure, we went to breakfast and saw a small roach running around on the pastry counter. I pointed it out to the staff member, who tried to catch it—but no apology or action was taken. Sales Pressure & Customer Service: Throughout our stay, we were pressured to attend a timeshare-style sales pitch disguised as a “tour” of the hotel. It was a complete waste of our vacation time. When we voiced our complaints to guest services, nothing was done—no compensation, no apology, no follow-up. Final Thoughts: This hotel did not deliver the level of service or quality we expected from a resort of this caliber. Between poor dining experiences, maintenance issues, and lackluster customer service, I cannot recommend Paradisus Grand Cana. We will not be returning.

Family of Four: We had a great time!
My review is based around our family of 4 (husband, wife and 2 girls ages: 2 and 9) staying in a Family Concierge Swim Up Master Suite and I’ll break the review down into the following categories: Property, Food, Room and Service. Property: The property as a whole is beautiful and very clean. The kids club was great. Both girls enjoyed spending time there. They have different activities daily based on age group and all the staff was friendly and inviting. The water park was also great. There are multiple pools with different slides and water toys also for different ages. The beach is about a half mile down the path from the hotel, but there is always a shuttle available quickly if you want a ride. The beach was clean and there were always seats available on both the Family Concierge side and the open side along with a bar to get drinks. All beaches in the DR are public, so don’t be surprised to be approached by vendors, but it’s not unsafe. The overall condition of the property was very good with maintenance being done constantly, but discretely as to not bother the guests. Food: This is really seems to be the hot topic about this resort. Let me say that if you expect to dine at Michelin Star restaurants every night, you will be disappointed, but if you’re reasonable and understand that this is an all-inclusive resort I think you’ll be just fine with the food. We ate at the buffet every morning for breakfast and lunch. There are other options available for a la carte restaurants, but our 2 year old isn’t the most patient toddler and it just worked better for us. That being said, they have the same staples of food for breakfast each day (fruit, meat, cheese, eggs, bread, etc.) but we all found stuff that we liked everyday. Lunch was similar with a lot of the same staples there daily with minor changes daily. Overall, it’s a pretty typical buffet. Sufficient, but nothing to wow you. Certainly not as terrible as some people have said. Again, I think expectations play a big role in people’s comments. For dinner each night we went to the a la carte restaurants except for our first night because we just went to the buffet since we got in around 4:30. Our Family Concierge Rep, Andy booked our reservations each night. We ate at Machu, Karnica twice and Tori. All were very good. Machu is their Peruvian restaurant with ceviche and similar dishes. It was really good. Karnica is the steakhouse and was also very good. Tori is the hibachi restaurant and that was a good experience as well. Overall, we all thought the food was pretty good. Just have realistic expectations. Room: We stayed in the Family Concierge Swim Up Master Suite and absolutely loved it! It was great having a pool, hot tub, lounge chairs and a Bali bed on our back porch. The room was plenty big enough for the 4 of us. The girls slept on a queen pullout and we had a king bed in the bedroom. The bathroom space was large and there was plenty of space to store all of our luggage and stuff. We were in building 4 with our room facing the outside of the property which I liked, because it seemed to be a little more secluded. That’s a personal preference, so if you like more activity, then facing the center of the property would be better for you. My only complaint about the room is the AC. It just seemed inconsistent and I believe it’s controlled by the property and without ceiling fans, it seemed warm in the room at times. Service: In my opinion, the Family Concierge was absolutely worth the extra money. Andy was our personal Concierge rep and he was amazing! He made all of our dinner reservations and was able to get us reservations early as we requested because of our two year old and not wanting to have to eat late with her. We came back to the room from dinner on multiple nights and found little gifts (beach toys, coloring books and crayons, t-shirts, hats and bags) that Andy had left with notes for the girls to make them feel extra special. They absolutely loved it!!! Andy would also message me with the daily activity itinerary and check in from time to time just to make sure everything was going well. He also helped me book an excursion off site in addition to the one included in our package. Overall, Andy made the entire experience better and I would 100% recommend him to anyone staying at the property. The service at all the restaurants was decent as well. Some servers are obviously better than others, but I wouldn’t say we had any bad experience. Overall: We had an amazing time! The property fit what we were looking for in a family vacation resort. If you are looking to take a family vacation that is laid back and allows you to enjoy some really nice amenities, this place is a great option. It’s not really a party property, so if you’re looking for a more lively option, maybe look elsewhere. I definitely think the Family Concierge is the way to go if you stay here.
