The Reef Bar for breakfast- Unedible buffet

The Reef Bar for breakfast. The $28 breakfast buffet was terrible. The only palatable part was the fruit that didn't need to be cooked. Where do I start. Keep in mind-I am not a picky eater. The "fresh" juice came out of a tank where the pipes were covered with a black fungus ( I know as we sat right by the bar and the exposed pipes were evident) and the juice did't taste quite right -obviously the pipes are never cleaned. The bacon was way overcooked -like dry hardboard. Eggs way overcooked as well. But the worst was the chef cooked omelette, it was disgusting - I don't know if you can make a mess of simple ingredients - it must be swimming oil he used, tons of it so it wouldn't stick to pan I guess. The mushrooms were not fresh. I couldn't eat it. The waiter never smiled once-looked totally disinterested in his job and didn't listen to our orders-asked for guava juice got orange, asked for an extra coffee for one, got two etc. I know outside eating can provide you with nature but there were pigeons and sparrows having there own buffet on left over plates (which were staying on the tables for ages) and the staff didn't care/see!- hope the birds didn't get bellyache. All this for $28.00 each!

    Anniversary Stay

The Outrigger proved to be a great hotel and experience. After a few disappointing things on our first few days I was extremely impressed with how the hotel rose to the challenge to address them. Big congrats on that. We spent 7 days here and enjoyed the hotel to its fullest. The location is superb as it’s just out of the crazy ones of Waikiki main beach but you can still walk to the beach within minutes. We actually spent 2 full days at the hotels own beach as it’s quiet and also had 3 massive sea turtles swimming around. The Voyager Club Lounge UA worth the upgrade. It offers great breakfast and amazing canapés at night time. You sit there with the best views of the sunset and beach each night. The pool is good and offers a great happy hour in the afternoon for MaiTai’s and other cocktails. Will be back for sure.

Outstanding hotel and stay! Outrigger Reef Thank you!!

We have been here a number of times and continue to go back. Even though we are elite members of Marriott, we continue to come back here because of the outstanding service, people and property. Everyone from the minute we arrive to the time we leave, they are so helpful and remember our names! A number of the staff have been here for 20+ years which really speaks to the hotel and how they are treated. I really appreciate the fact that each year (multiple times a year) we go, we continue to see the same people. We feel like we are “coming home” because of the staff. Many thanks to everyone, we so appreciate your hospitality!!

    Needs update

This hotel was probably amazing in the 70's, but in 2019 it's just looking tired. However, I feel the staff is doing the best they can with what they have. The location is great. You walk right out on to Waikiki Beach which is lovely. The beach is very rocky so I recommend buying some water shoes (that they sell at the mini mart in the hotel). I think next time I will just pay a little more for something nicer. If I'm going to spend $300 a night on a hotel room I would hope it would be nicer than the equivalent of the Red Lion.

    Short Stay

Stayed here for 5 nights by myself finishing off 4 weeks in Hawaii. I think it seems to be more of an adult resort as I saw a lot of older people and couples. Location is good, close to restaurants and just a block back from the Main Street. They provide a trolley which you can use by showing your room card which stops at Al Moana Centre, the zoo and Diamond Head among other places. Check in was okay. There is no lei provided and I didn’t feel overly welcomed but the important things were covered. Room was clean and comfortable with water replenished every day which you pay for in the daily resort fee. I was called at 4.30am one morning by another guest asking if the water was free?! Music plays until 9/10pm each night especially if you have a room overlooking the pool and lobby areas. There is a Starbucks located in the lobby area and a great Martin & McArthur store also worth a visit. Bell men and valets were very friendly and helpful. I would come back for a short stay.
