great time in Hawaii
We were booked into Ohana for 10 nights. From the time we arrived to checking out the lady(Sara)at reception was amazing. We requested a lower floor room which was available for us.Nothing was a problem for her.The hotel is in a great position an easy walk to Waikiki beach, international market place and the many eateries. There were bus stops near the hotel so you could travel were you wanted to go.The hotel is a little dated but if you are not looking for 5 stars it was prefect. There was a coffee shop in the lobby which was great for breakfast, coffee or an afternoon beer.Overall it was a pleasant and enjoyable stay at Ohana.
Second time staying here easy check in rooms are practical and clean rooms are getting a little tired though but overall a great stay good value for money. A 5 min walk to beach 10 min to Dukes and Maui brewing.
Check in was easy. Room was outdated, which seems to be the norm for Waikiki. Location is great for accessing shops, beach and pink line trolley stops. On our last day/night, the hotel hosted a pool party, open to the public... lots of extra people onsite, which after conversing with a fellow guest, led to drugs and police attendance (fortunately, on a different floor to ours!!) Pool access for guests was arranged at another hotel. Rooms are clean and maintained daily by lovely housekeepers.
Convenient location, modest accommodation
Not the most modern of accommodation but very well located and good value for money. If you decide to stay here, suggesting ask for a room on level 12 or higher. There is a lot of noise from nearby construction site + first responder sirens. We were on level 12 and were grateful; any lower and the noise would’ve been a downer. The hotel’s swimming pool was really good... clean & clear water surrounded by comfortable pool lounges that extend completely flat (awesome!). The room was serviced daily and to a good standard. All in all a good value for money venue.
Great Value in the Heart of Waikiki
We stayed one night, in order to visit a local friend, en route to our final destination on Kauai. As other reviewers have noted, our 6th floor room was pretty small, with a tight stand-up shower. The Queen bed was actually Full size, which could be a problem for taller folks. We received an email from a concierge offering his services, two days AFTER we checked out(?). The mountain view from our lanai was nice, but overlooked a busy street and soon-to-be-high-rise construction zone. Updates to decor and furnishings are definitely needed, but I actually enjoyed the fact that the hotel had more of an “old Waikiki” feeling to it. Most modern Waikiki hotels have had the character designed right out of them. (To say nothing of the International Marketplace, which is a whole separate tragedy, but I digress...) All that said, the staff we encountered were SO friendly, and the room was very clean. For me, those two items are more important than carpet pattern or ceiling height. And it’s walkable to pretty much everything in Waikiki. If you’re in Waikiki for the activities and experience, and don’t want to spend a pile of money on a fancy beachfront room just to sleep and shower in, then the Ohana Waikiki East is the place for you!
