The good, the bad and the ugly.
The actual Penthouse we stayed in was very nice. The staff was very kind and friendly. Barbados is very safe and unlike other islands, the locals selling merchandise on the streets never harass you to purchase from them. The area surrounding the Resort is undesirable, with vacant buildings. The Resort does not offer any amenities, no spa, no tennis, nothing. It's quite boring. Very laid back if you just want to drink and lay by the pool all day. The is only one restaurant with an extremely limited menu. By night six, I could not eat from the menu. Too much meat, rice and potatoes and not enough salads. It may be a great place for others, but I wouldn't return.
This beautifully maintained resort was just the thing we were looking for. The beach and pool area is superb and clean with plenty of loungers/beach chairs to go around, and an abundant supply of towels available. The staff in all areas are helpful, calm, friendly and go way beyond what is normally accepted as normal in some similar rated hotels in other countries. I would recommend this hotel unreservedly for a relaxing break. We intended to go sightseeing more than we did, but the environment on the beach and hotel in general persuaded us to stay put on the beach and pool area more and totally unwind. This was easy as drinks and meals are served anywhere on the grounds by the super Beach and Pool Attendants. The Jazz bar just a few houses along is a must to visit, great evening was had by all. Another thing I like about this resort is that what is now seen an norm in may resorts in holiday destinations i.e. beach harassment by touts offering services and purchases is very minimal with only the occasional rouge slipping in. Highly recommended, and we will be back in the next couple of years with other family members, hopefully in one of the larger family ocean view rooms. The view in the one we had this time is to die for. Be interesting though to see if the same cockerel is still around. I have the photos of him!!!!!!
Highly recommend and will be going back!
Beyond expectations. Wonderful, friendly, unforgettable holiday. From the moment we arrived to when we left we could not have been looked after better by such a fantastic team. The quality of the hotel and its staff were brilliant. We had an ocean view one bed apartment. It was more than fully equipped and very comfortable. The washer dryer was great for those with kids! It never felt too busy and almost as if we had the stunning beach to ourselves at times and yet there were plenty of guests that were all to happy to socialise too. We made some great friends on this trip that we will be staying in touch with. The staff went above and beyond to make your holiday the best it could be, there was very much a 'can do' attitude from everyone and always with a smile. Our stay would not have been the same without Roggick and Damian, two men that are great assets to the hotel. They went above and beyond to make each day feel special. Damian playing endlessly with all the kids and spending most of his time fully clothed in the pool. Roggick was full of knowledge and helpfulness in getting sorted whatever we needed. He took the kids kayaking and taught them to surf aswell as about turtles and other sea life. The kids, and we, miss them already but are still in contact. Myself and the kids require a gluten free diet and this was catered for with such consideration once they found out. Shireene, the general manager, went shopping herself to find us all sorts of breakfast choices and to ensure we were accommodated for the Roti night which we wanted to go to. Shantelle in the restaurant was great with her patience in trying to make sure the kids were getting exactly what they wanted to eat each morning. They've never been so spoilt! The location was great. Just a 10/15 min walk to St Lawrence Gap where all the restaurants and bars are, but far enough away to not be bothered by the noise and still feel remote. I have mobility issues but was able to most days do the walk slowly or it was a cheap cab to whichever restaurant we wanted. The sun loungers were incredibly comfortable and, crucially there was never once a shortage of them or any need to try to reserve beds. The clientele at the hotel was a mix of couples and families, all of which blended easily together and got to know each other due to the intimate nature and feel of the place. There was no set kids club or activities but things were arranged spontaneously throughout the day. It was perfect!
Pure Bliss <3
My stay was very short but it was more than sweet! I fell in love with this resort 5 mins after checking in.The staff at the front desk were so warm and welcoming. Upon arrival, I was escorted to the lounge area and greeted with a delicious rum punch welcome drink and instead of standing at the counter, the lovely staff ensured I was comfortable and handled my check in while I was seated. Once I got to my room on the 6th floor I was blown away. The scent of jasmine (my fav) filled the suite and the layout and decor was perfect. Veryyyyyyy modern. I smiled immediately when I walked onto the balcony and saw the view of the pool and the ocean followed by the full kitchenette (I'm a foodie) and the washing machine and dryer (a must). I had everything I needed! I can't forget about the bathroom, it was a woman's dream. His and her face sink, lots of cupboards, the perfect shower head and the largest shower I have ever seen. There was so much space! They also had these cute "makeup" towels which I found were adorable. As I mentioned I am a foodie, so I am very picky. But I must say dining at the Taste restaurant was an awesome experience. For lunch I had the jerk chicken sandwich, if you like flavorful food you would definitely enjoy this. Not too many spices, just enough. For dinner I had roasted breadfruit with lamb, pigtail, lobster and shrimp. THIS IS A MUST TRY! It was absolutely delicious and super fulling. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT! I couldn't even finish all of it, so it worked well for breakfast the next day. One of my favorite things about the hotel is the secluded beach. Barbados is usually flooded with a lot of tourists year round so it's nice to be able to go to the beach and relax away from all the noise and commotion. The property is perfect for rest and relaxation. I recommend it for families, couples, single travellers, groups, and even work trips. You have the option of enjoying a drink at the swim up bar or peace and quiet by the ocean. Either way I guarantee you will love it. There is a super market right around the corner if you need groceries, the security is top notch day and night and you are very close to the St Lawrence Gap which is a tourist attraction. The area is very safe. All in all I give this hotel 2 thumbs up. I will definitely be staying at the hotel on my next trip to Barbados. Special thank you to Shireene and Jacqui for making my stay extra special! xo
