    2019 Vacation

Ocean blue and Sand was the best Resort Ever. From the entertainment, to the food, shows, parties and also wonderful staff members. The entertainment was the best since they had people being in charge of making others laugh. One of the main members, were Pokémon, Black Coffee, and Chocolate. Everyone knows who they are because of how nice they are with the audience. They always made the people feel comfortable or at home. Their dance moves, were amazing, and their jokes too! I’ll definitely be back but now with friends!! Best Vacation Ever!!

    Lovely holiday, lovely people but...

So we just got back from a week at the Ocean Blue and Sand Resort in Punta Cana, staying in the Privilege section. The weather was perfect, the venue was fantastic (although I understand the comments from other reviewers about the sandbags on the eroding beach) and the staff were so lovely (we were allocated a butler during our stay, Jhoan who was really great and helpful on a day to day basis... he deserves 5 stars). However, there were a number of things that really bothered us regarding our stay and are the reason for us removing one star from the review... 1. The room we had was very tired - beds and pillows worn out, shoddy repair work on the tiling and around the bath - the shower plumbing was really wobbly and I worried it was going to come away completely), and the so called 'garden view' that we had was actually over the service road where all the behind the scenes vehicles and workers were). We expected far better considering we payed the extra for Privilege experience. We mentioned our issue with the room and were told we would have to pay $1000s to upgrade so we just put up with it. 2. As mentioned by other reviewers, we were invited to a welcome breakfast, which in fact turned out to be nothing of the sort, rather it was an attempt to get us to join the H10 Premium vacation rental package. I saw what was happening (and was frankly insulted when one by one, beautiful women were sent out to shake my hand and then walk away again before the director came out to see me. Very cheap tactic) and walked away after 10 minutes. I gather from other reviews that I could have been there for 3 hours. To be fair though, the director was very gracious when I said I was not interested and wished me a good holiday. 3. There are supposed to be quiet and loud pools. However, they are right next to each other and most of the events seemed to happen in the space between the 2 pools. There was literally no escape from the noise (not even on the beach). My wife did a quick survey of people whilst we were staying and literally all of them had an issue with the noise. I understand that some people love the activities, but the resort MUST find a way of not bothering what is the majority of guests in order to entertain a minority of people who like to participate in noisy events! My wife made a complaint on the day before our last day (apparently she had not been the only one) in the Privilege office and it seemed that the noise was tapered down the next day so hats off to the resort for looking into a viable solution. There really should be an area that is properly designated as quiet though because if the resort continues with the volume of noise at its current level, they will lose a lot of clients (they have already lost us). 4. My wife and son have allergies to eggs, nuts and sesame. We were impressed when the person at the door of the first restaurant we visited asked if there were any allergies. However, I have no idea what happened to this information because none of the waiters knew about them and then couldn't understand what we were trying to say. This happened every night at every restaurant and I really did not feel confident that they were taking this seriously despite the question asked at the front door. I mentioned this to our butler, Jhoan, and he gave me some cards (see photo attached) with symbols on them. All very good, but why were we not given these cards at check in? Also, the cards have number of things on them but to not have nuts or egg is ridiculous (especially when you write it underneath but then the waiter doesn't understand!) Luckily there were no allergic reactions during the week (especially considering we went to the Japanese restaurant) but I was not impresses with this at all So, overall we did have a really nice holiday and the venue and outside decor is so nice. We all have nice tans and certainly, when there was no excessive noise, we loved the ambiance of the resort. We loved the Villa Marina restaurant for breakfast and lunch but all the other restaurant food was distinctly average to be honest. Unfortunately, though, I could not recommend this resort for the reasons I mentioned above but if these problems can be rectified, this place would be really nice.

    Loved every second

This is one of the best holidays I’ve been on in a long time, the hotel, the staff, the pools and the beach were great. We stayed in the privilege section so got to have rooms close to the pool and beach, a more private al la carte breakfast, and a butler service. The butler service really made a difference when you wanted a ride between the rooms and the restaurant/lobby as it’s quite a walk in the heat. There is a train that comes every 10-20 mins but it’s not 100% reliable and is often full. The rooms were lovely, spacious, exceptionally clean and with brilliant air con. Mini bar filled daily, bed linen changed every two days, towels multiple times a day if required. The food suited everyone in our party. Always something everyone could eat. Lunch we had most days in the restaurant by the sea - beautiful view. See Belkis and Pedro for a table and great service. We had dinner most nights in the buffet restaurant. My only complaint was the lack of air con in the main restaurant. Waiters tried to get to know you and we hit really lucky meeting Roberto and Yunilca who were both excellent. The pools were always spotless. No bits floating in them (unlike many I’ve been in). Swim up bars and pool side waiter service. Dilcia is the best! The pools are very warm - almost too warm at times! If you’ve been in the sea it feels like stepping into a hot bath after. Lots of activities going on for those interested. The blue team work very hard. Just watching Kelly do aqua aerobics was enough to burn 1000 calories. They are always full of energy, dancing, cheering, from 10am to midnight or later. The shows in the evening were pretty poor. We ended up sitting in the piano bar most nights due to the air con. The main theatre was far to hot and we were bitten repeatedly. There is a bowling alley (free, no need to book - just take socks) with table tennis and pool tables. All free. And a teens club with table football and games consoles. This is open 3pm to midnight. A daisy club for smaller children too with lots of activities. Even if your child is under 4 they are allowed to attend if you stay with them. The beach and sea are lovely. Yes there is some seaweed but nothing as bad as Mexico. There is also a bar on the beach. There are guys selling water sports too walking round the sun beds - and day trips out to saona island. Pepe is a lovely guy. They hear no a lot but continue to smile. We had a few niggly complaints while we were there but all got sorted by either Mara or Wellington. Be aware this is not a new hotel so things might look a little used. But just don’t fret about things that don’t matter. If you ask, typically someone with sort your problem. If you don’t speak up they don’t know there is anything wrong. Can’t wait to go back!

    Good resort

We liked the resort. The pool is very nice and there are many activities for the children. We also like the shows and the restaurants, the food, and the entertainment, especially Pokémon. He is the best!

    Excellent vacation

This Resort was off the chain. I had a wonderful time with the staff, especially Kelly. The shows and entertainment were great as well as the drinks. The Japanese restaurant has very good food!🤩🤩🤩🤩
