We loved the ocean view room. People are very nice and helpful. Too bad that the swimming pool closes at 8 pm. I think 10 pm would be better. One of the elevator was not working and there are only two!
Always great service!
We have come to this hotel several times now and always enjoy our stay at Occidental Tucancun. The beach is always beautiful and well taken care of. They offer great service, beautiful rooms and amenities. We love the pool and beach services offered and have become friends with the staff since they all have such warm hearts. One individual from the staff that always goes above and beyond to serve us with a bright smile on his face is Luis Alcudia. We will even make sure we are seated in an area he is helping with so we get to chat with him and receive such excellent service. Make sure you look for Luis when coming here by the pool as he is always a big help!
My stay at Occidental Tucancun was GREAT!
The location of this hotel is great. The staff makes you feel welcome. It has a great service. Overall the food was good. I have a picky eater and he was always able to find something to eat. The snack bar is available all day, so if you get hungry you will always have something to munch on until the restaurants are open. The Ocean View from my room was a plus for me.
Excellent location, opposite shopping mall. Due to time of the year lots of seaweeds but was being constantly cleaned. Warm and friendly staff who ensured all our needs were met. Rooms and bathrooms very clean but a bit dated
Location: I rate the location a 5. It’s directly behind the mall and on the beach. Perfect views. Around 11pm (i believe)there were fireworks from somewhere that we could see from our room. The dollar bus(about 18 pesos) is easy to catch a very close to the hotel. The bus runs all night. Beware some of the drivers speak no English. Food: the food was bland for the most part. But add salt and pepper and it’s edible. Breakfast they make omelettes to order which was nice. They have boxed cereals as well. They had different “themes” for dinner each night. The Italian restaurant makes the pasta dishes to order. I ate fish, fries, broccoli, rice, chicken, fajitas. The fruit was good. The best food were the fajitas from the Mexican restaurant which u have to make reservations. Drinks: not top shelf liquor. The best mixed drink were regular margaritas. If you want to take full advantages of your “unlimited” drinks just ask for shots. They can’t start serving drinks until noon - so no mimosas for breakfast. WiFi: they give you 30 mins of free WiFi. But you have to pay for it if you want to have it after that. But i wouldn’t suggest buying it bc I did for one day and it never worked and no one knew how to help me. I’d suggest using your hotspot (if applicable) Rooms: our room was on the 3rd floor. Partial view of some water but mostly the back of the mall and the basketball/tennis court. The balcony was a wrap around balcony so that was nice. They also have a drying rack on the balcony. I believe the lights are on a timer bc as we sat outside one night they automatically shut off. So, not wanting to sit in complete darkness we went back in the room. The tv has some English channels. The mini fridge in the room was restocked everyday with water, soda(Pepsi), Coronas, and nuts/chocolate. Bathroom was decent the shower was a nice size. Entertainment: they have some entertainment at night nothing much. Nothing that involves the hotel guests which i wish they had. Everything is a fee. If you lose your bracelet it’s $100, if you lose the room key they charge $50 or $100, and if you lose your towel card (looks like a key card u give to get a towel and when u return the towel u get the card back) it’s $25.
