This is a fantastic resort. My husband and I loved every minute of it. The tours through the hotel were great. Also, the swim up bar was our favorite. Extremely friendly and helpful staff that also gave us the best service,
Mediocre and average at very best.
10dollars a day for wifi, beach bar is lovely and swim up but was constantly dirty when we were there. 45 minute queue to check in, then a further 20minutes to wait for a shuttle to our room with no explanation or apology for either. Staff generally friendly, not at reception/front of house but in bars and restaurants. Entertainment was very limited. Food was average buffet. Much better all inclusive available for that price.
Resort is really calm and beautiful, the beach in my opinion is one of the best in the whole area even better than playa del coco. My friends stayed in other resorts and there beaches were too black from the fishing, there is no fishing in this beach though. Staff is friendly, food quality is great, and amenities are good. The only negative I have is that the stairs murdered my knees, if you have bad knees use there charter service. If this is your first time going to Cost Rica don't exchange your money at the airport they will rip you off! Google the exchange rate for the day also book your excursions from the beach not your resort and last taxi's are a lot cheaper than booking with shuttles ahead of time, only use the red taxi's though. Don't be fooled that they are not safe unfortunately the locals suffer a lot from the big resorts trying to take all your money and paint anything out of there resort as not safe. As long as you use your common sense you should be good.
We booked this hotel with the deluxe romance package for our 10th anniversary and stayed 5 nights. We arrived a little late at around 7pm and Javier checked us in. He was very courteous and answered all of our questions. Our room 406, was very hot when we checked in and took a little while to cool down, but we just left the key in the AC so it stayed cool for the next 5 days. the room was pretty clean, but not spotless and everything worked well. Pro tip; don't leave your porch light on when you go to dinner or you'll come back to a gajillion bugs on your porch. The buffet was pretty good, but small. The drink servers provided good service. The Asian restaurant was my favorite, while the wife preferred the Italian. We had the Italian for our anniversary night dinner and they put rose petals on the table for us. We had the room service breakfast one morning and while not free it was not very expensive at all for what we got. I had the Americano scrambled eggs, bacon, toast, and hash browns and she had the continental which came with croissant, fruit, muffin, orange juice and coffee all for $16. It was delivered with the hot things hot and the cold things cold and very fast, like 15 or 20 minutes. The lobby bar and swim up bar were both great, had good bartenders who would remember what you were drinking. The only downside is a limited selection of alcohol and only 1 beer (Imperial) The beach was great when the tide was out. We took the shuttle to Coco Beach on the first day which turned out to be a huge blessing because we met Johnny D there and booked 2 full days worth of tours with him. We went to a rain forest preserve where we were able to see sloths, monkeys, poison dart frogs, bats, toucans, wild turkeys, laughing falcons all in nature, not in cages. We also went to a waterfall. Then the next day we did a private ATV tour and a snorkel/sunset cruise. Go see Johnny D for the real tours and to see the real Costa Rica. The biggest downfall with our trip was the lack of WiFi.
A Great Time in Costa Rica!
We came here to celebrate our wedding anniversary and had a great time! My wife rated this place 3 stars but I give it 4 stars. We loved our room with the ocean view. We saw plenty of wildlife on the property, including lizards, iguanas, raccoons, monkeys and more. The service was very good and every time we needed assistance, they helped us. They even come pick you up from your room, but we preferred to walk instead and get some steps. The pools are nice and we recommend signing up to kayak and snorkel. There are so many puffer fish, sea urchins, sea turtles many other sea creatures. Be careful around the roaming raccoons and please don’t feed them. The beach is pretty small but adequate. You can either eat at the a la carte buffet restaurant or try to make reservations only the day of at the Italian, Steakhouse (The Grill) or Asian (The Oriental). The restaurants are very small and you must make reservations very early. Also, there is only one open nightly, except Friday and Saturday. I like how they refill your fridge with 2 sodas, water and beer as needed. The views are gorgeous! The bad news is that the rooms come with small tvs, you have to pay for wifi, the food isn’t that great, the gym is so tiny with no free weights and you don’t always get taken care of unless you speak up. I recommend that if you book any excursions that you book through Yvette upstairs at Swiss Travel because they offer the same activities for much less. I highly recommend doing the Mega Combo Tour because it’s awesome!
