Hotel Overview

A spectacular resort, set on a dazzling beach, the all-inclusive Occidental Caribe boasts 798 rooms with red Spanish-styled rooftops. The lobby, in warm tangerine hues, invites you to linger, with comfy seating under a chandelier, which amusingly also happens to house a birds nest! Sprawled parallel with the beach, this spacious hotel curves around gardens and features two large pools that are perfect for a refreshing dip.

Boredom is not an option at this adventurer's paradise! Fly through the air on a trapeze at the circus school, or test your strength and endurance on the rock-climbing wall. Then, gaze down at the spectacular ocean-view from the top. Children's programs are also available and include a playground, game room, pool, and more.

Entice your palate at one of seven specialty restaurants and after supper, don't forget to try your luck at the casino or take in one of the dynamic live shows in the forum-style theater. Before topping the evening off at the nightclub, stop by one of the late night bars for a nightcap. Finally, head off to your luxurious room to rest up for the next day's adventure.

Once you've had a good night's rest, why not start your day off in the gorgeous, fully-equipped spa? Enjoy relaxing in the hot tub, pampering yourself in the beauty salon, or melting away stress in one of many massage rooms.

***Important Information for our guests***
The Dominican Republic imposes various restrictions each year for Easter.  The restrictions usually begin the Thursday prior to Good Friday, and run a few days past Easter Sunday.  The following regulations may be enforced:

These guidelines are currently vague because actual enforcement by the local government does vary greatly from one year to the next.  Each year the actual policies are not published by the local authorities until just prior to Easter.  These rules are designed for the safety of everyone, as beaches get extremely busy during this period.

    Unfriendly staff

The hotel is a little outdated but it still pretty. The serving staff were not that friendly. They seem to be understaff in the Buffett which it made it hard to just get utensils and water. The food is basic. The staff seems to do whatever they want in this hotel. They will be in the Buffett walking out with food. They were taking up all the equipment in the gym. They need to provide training on hospitality. The pool was very good.

    Lovely, not luxury, as expected

We ended up staying at both Occidental Caribe AND Occidental Punta Cana. They were both lovely. But I can tell you that for the small price difference, Occidental Punta Cana is significantly more upscale. The rooms at OC Punta Cana were more updated as well as the lobby and all facilities in general. Also, at Occidental Caribe, The main buffet is not air-conditioned. At Occidental Punta Cana the main buffet IS AC. This made for a much more pleasant dining experience. Especially after showering at the Caribe and trying to feel and look decent for dinner and just being very warm and sweaty while dining. Felt like I needed another shower afterwards. Plus at Caribe because it’s open air, naturally there is an issue with flies on food. This is the case with any open air restaurant and not unique to Caribe. We did have issues with our air-conditioner and safe at Caribe. These issues were reported no less than four times before we moved without any action from the resort. (This was not the reason for our move. We moved to join family at Punta Cana) Bottom line is if you are still in the research phase and have not booked, for the small Price difference, I would recommend Punta Cana over Caribe. If you have already booked at Caribe, you will have a lovely stay. Enjoy. The beach is beautiful.

room smells musty and staff and very rude

room smells musty and staff and very rude. The buffet and wet bar staff are very rude and do not care to serve a customer well, only when they receive tips. Check in: There is no different queue for group and family. We waited 40 minutes to check in.

SHOULD BE NAMED OCCIDENTAL TERIBLE. The only good thing about this place is the beach. But everything from check-in to check-out was a nightmare. Mold in the rooms. Terribly dirty rooms. Awful food. Poor service. DO NOT STAY HERE. We've been to plenty of resorts and this by far was the worst one. After the first 24 hours, we booked a different place.
