    A Dream Vacation!

The hotel was absolutely gorgeous - incorporating the beauty of nature and relaxation!! The animals that live there made our experience that much more exciting. The service was impeccable! The staff was the friendliest I’ve encountered and the food was delicious! This vacation was a dream and we can’t wait to visit this hotel again next year!

    Excellent Experiece

We traveled as a family and met my parents there who were coming from another country. The Hotel and location is beautiful. We loved the jungle/beach combination. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are very comfortable. I dont recommend the spa services. The facilities are old and dont reflect the main Hotel facilities.

    Awesome off season trip

Amazing and friendly staff. I enjoyed the my week of relaxation and sight seeing. I should have flipped the mattress over to get the brand. Oh my goodness, it was the most comfortable nights sleep I have had all year and I just bought a new bed eight months ago! I was there first week of November 2019. Not a lot of people so it was not too crowded. The beach area was crowded. I planned for excursions which I will review separately for the particular company. My fridge was fully stocked daily with a liter of bottled water for the coffee pot, four 32 once bottles of water, two beers and snacks each day. I drink a lot of water daily personally and after the second day the staff began to leave two additional bottles of water in the fridge. Thank you. I am very active and it was quite humid, but I'm used to living on the coast. I was able to get a special for the spa and booked it. Great hydro therapy and sauna action plus a deep tissue massage. Great way to start my week. I spent two days at the beach and two days offsite on excursion enjoying the culture and food. The restaurants onsite were very nice. The seafood spot was the only one I saw that required guests to follow a dress code but still very chill. No sandals, men wear pants (sweat pants counted), a polo or dress shirt. I was a very romantic setting and the food looked like a work of art. The chefs impressed me so much and the table service was spectacular. The second best steak I ever had was here. I did not need a knife to cut my strip steak from my surf and turf entree. It was succulent and juicy, seasoned just right and did not need any steak sauce. My other meals (breakfast and lunch) were at the buffets at the beach or by the reception pavilion around the river walk. Overall an amazing place to visit with a friendly and family atmosphere.

An amazing stay with some great staff in beautiful surroundings.

For perspective we are from Yorkshire, England and we stayed in the Royal level. When we arrived at the hotel we had a problem with our booking being cancelled by our holiday company. A big shout out goes to Paola in reception for sorting everything out for us and giving us champagne and strawberries while doing so. It was rather stressful and it would have been even more so without her excellent help. Carlos also deserves a mention for his unending cheerfulness, he even remembered my birthday and said happy birthday to me. How he remembers everyone’s names I don’t know. We also have to mention Javier, the best bar man ever. He knows every drink, every cocktail and how to make them to perfection. Javier made our stay go from great to perfect. Don’t miss the tequila tasting on a Wednesday! All the staff in the Royal area were excellent. They seem to work some blooming long hours. I'm not sure I could stay happy for the long shifts they work, they all deserve a lot of credit. The Royal area was great with a jacuzzi pool and larger swimming pool. The beds were better than the ones in the normal areas and we had as many towels as we wanted. There was also waiter service by the pool which was excellent. The mango daquiri’s were simply gorgeous, so much so I have bought some mango syrup to try and re-create them. The grounds are meticulously maintained with staff constantly sweeping and cleaning. However, the grounds all over the hotel are the same, they obviously put in a lot of hard work. One of the luxuries of the royal area were beds out by the sea. They are sooo comfy and a lovely place to read and watch the waves. The grounds of the hotel are spectacular with ruins to look at and all the animals. One of the highlights of my trip was when a baby deer licked my hand. The iguanas are everywhere, you have to watch your step at times. I loved iggy spotting. There are also monkeys and several different small mammals. I did ask one of the cart drivers once what they were but I don’t remember now, it was a complicated name. One thing the hotel could do would be to have some signs saying what the animals are for us foreigners. It was ace watching them run around. The ruins are all lite up at night which is wonderful. The food was okay, but could have been better. As a European I advise do not go to the Italian, it was just wrong. The grill was very nice, but as it is nice it gets busy, I wouldn’t advise going at 7 o’clock as it gets really busy and the service suffers for it. Go early or late. The breakfast at the cove was the best we tried. Although they should really invest in some drainer plates. You cut into a hash brown and a big gloop of oil comes out. The buffet has lots of choice, you’ll find something to eat there. One night they had a pasta station which was very good. I wouldn’t recommend the pizza, the cheese is odd and not very nice which is a shame because the base was lovely. Paco’s tacos do great pork sandwiches which we’d highly recommend. As we had room service at royal level we had tea on the balcony after a day trip out. We’d recommend the burger and the caesar salad. We didn’t eat an evening meal at the royal level as all the food is a bit posh for Yorkshire folk. In all, we didn’t starve but it’s the only all inclusive I’ve come back from and not put on weight. However, the staff, the grounds and the drinks make up for it so we weren’t bothered. Tipping was all a bit of a headache. I’ve never been to an all inclusive where you tipped. (Other than a tip jar on the bar kind of thing.) We couldn’t work out what the done thing was. We tried watching but American’s seem to have this learnt slight of hand thing going on. We didn’t see the Mexican people tipping at all, maybe they didn’t. The other problem was as we got our money delivered by the post office so we only had big notes and being all inclusive we weren’t spending to get change. It was only on the second to last day we learned that you can change large notes at the lobby. The have bundles of 20 peso (£1) notes. Wish we’d have known that earlier, it would have saved a lot of stress. Another quick tip. Make sure you take enough deodorant, sun screen etc. There is an onsite shop but we had to buy a Nivea deodorant which worked out at £5! We also had to buy more sunscreen which worked out at about £20. About double the prices of the UK. The grounds of the resort are large, I don’t think in 8 days we managed to see everything. Take some trainers with you to do the nature trails and climbing to get to the ruins. I would say it takes about 30 minutes to walk from one side to the other. There are carts and bus stops around the resort to ferry people around. I have rheumatoid arthritis and I saw other people there with physically problems. It’s quite possible to get about but beware that the transport stops at 10.30. One of our first nights we missed the last cart and ended up getting lost walking back. So, if you have walking problems, I’d recommend getting your bearings before taking a walk in the dark after too many cocktails. Lol. If you are thinking of going to the hotel do it. It was an excellent stay and we are thinking of going back for my husband’s big birthday in a couple of years.
