It's the first time I'm in this hotel and I'm sure it will be the last. Far from being a wonderful vacation I had several unpleasant moments in this hotel that I would like to share with everyone. I never complain on this social network but the occasion merits it, since I have previously been to Cancun at the Fiesta Americana and that is why I can compare what happened to me in the oasis palm, cause is not justified at all. For example, if you go to this hotel, be careful of seagulls. They don't have control over them, to reduce their entrance to the hotel, and the minimum food you have in your hand will be stolen by a flock of seagulls. Which will make you ridiculous in front of the people and staff at the hotel. They have very stupid rules like forbidding people to do many things or use inflatables that are in the pools or beach, I never understood why there are then? And this is terrible.. the most attractive thing about this hotel is the beautiful kids club that my son really love it too much, but unfortunately the staff is terrible although I have to admit that I can't speak for all the girls since I only observe the behavior of a girl called Ariana who is very aggressive, I remember her name well because I spoke a couple of times with her, directly she is very kind and smiling, but I was seeing in the few minutes while leaving my son, that she would be with him in the pool , she loses control very quickly, she yells at children for basically nothing, I understand that children can stress you and not pay attention sometimes but it was not the case in those moments when she looked badly at children and yelled at them in a grotesque way. My son told me that she has a kind of favoritism as well because with some children she is good and with others very unfair and aggressive, with my son she was neutral but I think my review can help in something so parents can think very well before trusting their children in people they don't know, and the same hotel to classify their staff well
Great for families
We just returned from spending one week with our 6 and 7-year-old boys along with my in laws. This is a great family resort. A very busy resort. It is definitely geared to children and families with lots of activities to keep everyone busy. The Kids Club had lots to offer and people like Pamela were always welcoming the children with a huge smile. There is a handy book with the schedule for every day so our boys popped in and out depending on the activity they wanted to join. It worked very well for us. Before we left, I read a lot of past reviews and started to get nervous about what to expect. I had a lot of confusion as to the Grand, The Oasis Palm and the Sens and where to stay with the kids. If you book with the Grand Oasis Palm or the Oasis Palm, you are essentially staying at the same resort – it’s physically the same building. The Grand allows you access to 3 more restaurants and different bedrooms. We booked Oasis Palm and had a newly renovated room, that was always very clean. We were told that the hotels have changed ownership in the recent past and there’s been some name changes. I only says this because perhaps that is why I was so confused with the past reviews on Trip Advisor, maybe it depends on the name of the hotel at the time and changes since. Take old reviews with a grain of salt. That being said. You do notice that they are actively working on upgrading the resort. There is a lot of construction happening, but nothing that interfered with our relaxation. There was always someone around cleaning the general areas. They kept the resort very clean. It seemed like they have been working to improve the issues that I had read in past reviews to be leery of. Overall the food was really good. The meals and staff at La Bamba and MexiTaco were amazing. The food at the buffet itself was ok, however Luis Muy was there to make the meal more enjoyable. We ate at La Bamba a lot because the ambience and the food were fabulous (if you enjoy fish). Hugo and the whole staff were awesome. The snack bar was always going and the guys super friendly and quick. We never went hungry. After just one meal at Mex Taco, Enrique remembered our family and even what drinks to bring over. He was so attentive and friendly. One suggestion to the hotel regarding the buffet - having another omelette/egg station would really make the experience nicer. It was a long/hot wait most of the time. I would be remiss if I did not mention Laura. The drink server who was everywhere! Whether we were by the beach or by the pool, she hustled everywhere and always quick to bring a drink. That really enhanced the experience for us. As mentioned, I was leery of what to expect because some of the past reviews however I was very happy with our experience and took the time to write to give another perspective. There is no perfect resort, they all come with some positives and some negatives. Overall, we had a clean room, the staff was friendly, we always had a full stomach and the beach was gorgeous. Our kids had an amazing time and were never bored. Success!
Party hotel- worst with kids
Horrible experience! Food and the kids set up were ok but there were parties every night until 1 to 4 AM that kept us up all night... would definitely not recommend for a family who is looking for a relaxing vacation.
I want to thank Carlos Chan and Raul salgado they make are experience way better if wasn't for them it would be not good at all.... They work at sisal restaurant Carlos was very helpful and give us great recommendations for what to do in Cancun. Great job guys.
1/5 Poor is an understament
I found the advert online very misleading. The rooms on the 'on the beach' site were nothing like the actual rooms (pics are better than actual) no WiFi even in lobby, Paid £32 for 5 days WiFi which I thought was expensive, as it happened we were there for 10 days and the WiFi wasn't switched off after the 5 days so we done ok out of it but to be expected to pay £64 for 10 days normally is very dear. Room. Room was clean but dated, no fridge.water was put in room each day (but was warm). Wind howled through single glazed window frame. Door was a problem to open with key card..7 out of 10 days I had to get new card to enter room. On two occasions, I had 3 new cards in one day and was still unable to gain entry, after 40 min wait a very apologetic man appeared with a key on key ring to open door. They eventually decided on day 8 that the actual door lock needed new batteries which rectified the problem immediately!! Room allowed lots of noise from people in corridor, kids banging on doors etc as noise echo'd along the hallway. Sissal buffet restaurant - staff friendly, food mediocre, very samey..not much variation, drink machine supplied flat coke and Fanta, not fizzy once! La Bamba Restaurant - excellent service, friendly staff, says on website fish/mexican, we don't eat fish so had the choice of one meal, coconut breaded chicken, which to be fair was very nice, more choice for non fish eaters would be nice tho and more mexican cuisine would be great! Towels for the beach were available daily, all clean but not best condition. Don't ask Ricardo in the towel kiosk for anything as very grumpy/miserable and most unhelpful. Beach - small and packed with kids, which was fine. The birds were a nightmare tho, bird poo on sun loungers and even on our towel when we got back from a swim in sea, people feeding birds on beach with popcorn bought off the beach traders. The noise they make is deafening and having them flying so close to your head is most off putting. Beach Traders - constantly coming up asking f you want their produce, if we said 'no thanks' once we must of said it 100 times each day..all we want to do is relax and enjoy the sun without being constantly hassled. Sun chairs - ok if you can find one not covered in bird mess, no cushions on loungers so very uncomfortable. Snack bar - ok if you just want hot dogs/ burger/ chips, but you need to ask what foods available as no menus or list on bar side. Smell - every few days there was an awful smell of sewerage wafting inside the hotel and out, not pleasant at all. In any other hotel that Ive stayed in on an all inclusive basis when u go out on day trips, they will supply a packed lunch, but this hotel doesn't offer this, which I found very poor. The trip we went on had an early start, before breakfast started so one day we paid for all inclusive and had nothing, not even fruit..only warm water from room!! Staff - friendly waiters and lovely cleaner, majority of staff were happy and helpful ( not Ricardo tho) I would not recommend this hotel unless you want real budget accommodation, I would not stay there again. I'm amazed this hotel has more than a one star rating, I'm not a fussy holiday maker but I've had cheaper holidays that offer much better.
