Room - tropical view junior suite: **Building 14, great location. Less than 3 minutes to lobby, pool, restaurants **Room 1412, 2nd floor. No elevator. Will remember to ask for a ground floor next time. Hauling the stroller up and down was a pain. **Large seating area with pull out couch, coffee table, and dining table for 2. **Dresser with 2 drawers, plus luggage stand with another 2 drawers. **Large closet with several cubbies for storage. Electronic safe included. **booked a King bed, which had floating night stands on either side. Electrical outlet only available on 1 side of the bed, but it also has 2 USB plugs. Lamps on either side, plus reading lights. **Bathroom counter medium size. Was crowded with all our stuff, since we had baby bottles to wash daily. There was only 1 towel hook, which was not nearly enough. We reused our towels to be more eco friendly, and more hooks are needed. There was also no hook or rod for face and hand towels. **Nice makeup mirror that lights up. **Shower only, but spacious. Has a bench at one end, worked good for toiletries. **Toilet cabin has frosted glass door. It's a swinging door, as is the shower door, and easy for little fingers to get pinched. **Average size balcony with 2 chairs and side table. I was disappointed there was no drying rack outside, so clothes were constantly on the chairs. Pool Areas: **1 large main pool, with 1 swim up bar. Several areas with built in sun loungers. **2 whirlpools built into main pool. Not heated, just jets. **1 fountain feature in the middle, and some waterfall features on the north side of the pool. **No zero entry, stairs only **1 preferred club pool, adults only near the spa. (didn't have access to it, as we didn't book Preferred Club) **Biggest disappointment - the resort is supposed to have 3 full size water slides, but they are not completed yet. The pool for them looks built, but the platform for the slides isn't even built yet. I'd be surprised if it's ready for the upcoming winter season. This was one of the main reasons we booked into this property, and were very sad to see them not even close to ready. Explorer Kids Club: **Only available for kids 3 to 12. **Parents can only go in with kids from 9 to 930 am, and 1 to 2 pm. This is the only time we were able to access the Splash Park with our one year old son. Again, this was another big disappointment, as our son loves to play in the water. I've never encountered a kids club that younger kids were not able to visit with their parents at any given time. **There is a cute stage area at the entrance, as well as an indoor area (didn't go in to see/use facilities). **There did seem to be a great program for kids of age, and other parents we spoke to said their kids loved it. **Splash Park has 3 slides, 3 mini slides (like, 2 ft in length meant for the littles), bubblers, and sprayers. Not overly large, but definitely a good size for younger kids. **No other kids areas on resort. No playground 😔 Restaurants: **Market Café - buffet, open for breakfast/lunch/dinner. Ok variety, decent food. Theme night every 2nd night. 2 cooking stations. Cute mini buffet for kids. Mexican night was the best. **Fresco - Mexican. Only dinner. Best food in my opinion. Ate here twice and wasn't disappointed either time. Excellent tortilla soup. Tuna and avocado salad appetizer was my favorite. **Bluewater Grill - steakhouse. Open for lunch select days, and dinner. All open air dining. We had an ok dinner experience, but it was tainted by the rain and mass amount of mosquitoes that came out. Ended up with 50+ bites. Not the resort's fault, but didn't make for the best time. **Lemongrass - oriental. Open for dinner only. Reservations available for the hibatchi tables, or walk up for regular seating. Reservations made for the day of from 1 to 3 pm. Didn't have a chance to dine here. **Cibu - Mediterranean. Open for dinner only. Didn't dine here either. **Paramour - French, adults only. Open for breakfast for preferred club guests, dinner for everyone. Didn't dine here either. **Market Cafe - open 24/7 for coffees and treats. Great coffee, but I wish there were more options for non-sweets. Sandwiches and wraps would be nice **Room service - available 24/7. Decent selection of items. Minimum wait of 45 minutes. We tried to order on our last day in time for lunch, and it never made it. After 1 hr 20 minutes, we had to just leave and check out. Bars: **Swim up bar from 10 am to 5 pm. Pretty good service. Specialty drink each day. **Lobby bar from 10 am to late. **Beach bar from 10 am to 5 pm. Located further down the beach from the pool. Never made it here, as we couldn't go with the stroller (have to cross sand to get to it) **There is also a bar at the preferred club pool, but we didn't have access to it. Beach: **Narrow, but long. Lots of walkers and joggers. **Seaweed/sargassum build up in the morning. There were always several people out cleaning it up early each day. **The water is a murky brown, not what I am used to for the Mayan. It wasn't muddy or mucky to walk into, but you can see the seaweed floating around. **The water was very active all week and was red flagged the whole time. This might have contributed to why the water was so murky looking. Overall the stay was ok. We had some problems with housekeeping; out of 7 days, we didn't have our room cleaned for 2 of them. This made for a lot of clutter from empty water bottles and beer/soda cans, plus glassware we'd accumulated. We spent a lot more time in our room on this trip, traveling with a one year old, so having it unserviced was a big letdown. Also, we often got skipped from having our fridge stocked, or it wasn't stocked well. We had to call once to have them come in the late afternoon as no one had stocked us yet. Other times just 1 beer and water would be left. Since we needed the water for our son's formula bottles, it was another letdown. Our other major issue was the kids club. Not being allowed to go in except for a very specific, small window of time each day was disappointing. There are no other kid friendly play areas outside of the kids club. Our son is very independent now, and we saw him get frustrated from not having anywhere for him to play. The lobby bar area is nice, but not small kid friendly since it is surrounded by water features. All the dining staff and bar staff were great, and really redeemed our stay. They would engage with our son, and weren't offended when he left a big mess. Our favorite was Eloy and his team from the breakfast buffet. Personally, I wouldn't go back to this particular resort. The little things that were letdowns were too frequent for the caliber the resort is supposed to be. I wouldn't recommend it for anyone with kids under age 3.

Nice resort but we prefer Now Jade

I stayed at Now Sapphire in a preferred club room for four nights, November 5-9, with a friend and her daughter. We stayed at Now Jade in December and loved it. While at Now Jade a few guests recommended Now Sapphire so we decided to give it a try. The pros: lovely room with excellent cleaning service daily including turn down service each evening. Each time the staff does the turn down service they leave a schedule for the following day's activities at the main pool, kids club, and evening entertainment along with the weather forecast and shuttle info. You can reserve cabanas at the main pool one day in advance (at 8 am) and not have to worry about anyone stealing it from you or having to wake up super early to reserve it. They even put a little sign with your name on it. Friendly staff everywhere. Kids club was enjoyed by the 8 yo in our group and they have a fun little water park there and great activities all day. Food at the buffet (omelet bar) and Mexican restaurant (cheese appetizer, shrimp appetizer, flautas, tres leches cake, rice pudding, fritters) was excellent. No reservations needed except for Hibachi. Great view for lunch at Blue Water Grill. Lots of open air space and comfy seating in the main area where there is entertainment at night. Evening entertainment was good. Excellent house white wine (Sauvignon blanc). Cute coffee shop open 24 hours and made excellent lattes (and had almond milk on hand). Yummy snacks in the preferred club lounge 24/7. There are a few sweet cats living on the property. We also saw a few "Mexican dogs." Awesome bar with swing seats right on the ocean. The cons: the adults only pool that preferred club allows you access to was disappointing (especially compared to Now Jade). There was no swim up bar, no ocean view, no music playing, no grill or snacks poolside. We found it boring and only went one time. The main pool also did not play much lively music except for during zumba. We heard a lot of spa music all around the resort and wanted more diversity and more "fun" and upbeat music at the main pool at least. The bars and restaurants were frequently out of the wine we wanted. The service at the breakfast restaurant that is included with the preferred club and the one sit down lunch restaurant, Blue Water Grill, was painfully slow. The food at the Blue Water Grill and Hibachi was just so so and no fish was included with hibachi which I was looking forward to. The "yum-yum" sauce at Hibachi, the pad thai at Lemon Grass restaurant, and the calamari and burrito at Blue Water Grill were all disappointing. The food offered by the main pool for lunch was also just so so, hot dogs and burgers and nachos every day. I was hoping for some tacos or some chicken on the grill. I woke up a few times during the night because of loud guests being heard very clearly from the bedroom. Overall, this was not a bad resort, but compared to Now Jade it lacked a lot.

    Amazing Second Home!

This was my 5th trip back to Sapphire, and we brought friends with us for their second trip home! We had an amazing time from check in to check out! Sylvia and Hector gave us a warm friendly welcome home to start out the week! Around every corner was a "welcome home", and a hug from all who are genuinely happy to see you, whether it is your 5th time, your 1st time, or your 15th time home! The renovated rooms are very nice, we don't spend much time in them but the décor is updated, the bathrooms are improved, and the beds are still comfortable as ever! One of the best improvements for us was the new pool area flooring... they have removed the tiles and now it is just a cement cover, which no longer burns your feet when doing Zumba or just walking place to place! We stayed in Building 1 which is my favorite and close to everything! If you're lucky enough to book a swim up room... the pools looked amazing!! A fabulous day for me was.. the gym... CoCo Café...breakfast... pool... Zumba... Water Aerobics... Pool... Crazy Games... Swing Bar... Pool... Dinnner.. Show.... Sleep... Repeat!!! There are so many activities during the day if you chose to participate! The Unbelievable Entertainment Crew has games, and tours, and lessons, throughout the day to keep you busy if you like that sort of thing! Otherwise they'll tell you to enjoy your day relaxing, and they'll see you around!! The restaurants are wonderful! We do the buffet for breakfast, which has a large variety of almost anything you can think of... omelette station.. fresh fruits.. pastries... etc! Dinner was always excellente'!! We had Cibu (mediterrranean) 3 times it was so delisc! Shout out to Anna who is the sweetest gal at the booking counter! The wait staff were wonderful all 3 nights!! Paramour (French), and Lemongrass were deliscious of course, and great service too!! We did massages at the Spa (Shout out to Rafael who always got us set up), they're wonderful, and some of our group did massages down at the beach as well!! Evening shows were excellent, THE ROCK SHOW IS AMAZING!! The lobby bar is always a great time to chat, meet new friends, and listen to the musicians before and after the show! Claudia always had our room spotless, the AC was super chill, and the beds are comfy!! Some of the family I want to mention..... The amazing Luigi and Crew!! They are the best, It truly makes me sad to tell them "see you soon" when we go home... they've become Life long friends, and we love them to pieces! They work so many long days to ensure all have an Amazing Vacation!! Luigi, Javier, Isaac, Ivan, Katherine, Karely, Omar, Julio, Osiris, And Dani... you're the best, we love you all! Vincente' and all the amazing wait staff and bartenders... Jaime, Pedro, Refugio, Cesar, Antonio, Carlos, Alan, Jose', Diego, Iroshi, Crystle, Lemi, Juan, Victor, Raul, Feliciano, Carmen, Azusena, Gabriella, Luis, Mardo, Happy Feet, Jorge, Martin, Miguel, The beautiful ladies at CoCo Cafe, and i know i have forgotten some, but they're all amazing!!! It was our anniversary the day we left so Martin and Crew surprised us with a cake at the pool... It is the little things that make you feel so special, and it doesn't matter how many times you've been there, they want everyone to have the best time ever and truly enjoy their trip!! Until next time... we will miss you Sapphire Family.... See you Soon!

    Another great holiday!

This was our 2nd visit to the resort and we will definitely be going back again. What an amazing place! The only negative I can say is that there is still no drying line in the bathroom/balcony and some new flatter pillows would be nice... That's how good this place is. We spent 2 weeks in this all inclusive resort with my husband and daughter who is 7 years old and we had an amazing time. Rooms are pretty standard but nice and clean as they have recently gone through renovations but we only spent very limited time in them as there was so much going on. From about 11 am till 10 pm you have an opportunity to be constantly engaged in activities run by an amazing entertainment team or by kids club team for little ones. You can also not get involved and be left alone if you wish. The amount of effort and enthusiasm that Luigi, Javier, Ivan, Isaac, Omar, Osiris, Katherine, Daniella and Karly put into making sure everyone has a good time is above any expectations. We had one rainy day and in no time all activities were moved into the lobby bar to carry on with the fun! However if you don't like that kind of thing they will leave you be, so don't worry but do go and see the rock show - it's a must! Mariella, May and Cindy from Explorers Club are amazing at keeping children entertained. They work tirelessly and always with a smile. They make every child feel special. I can't thank them enough for taking care of our daughter. They have a buzzer system where your child can buzz you whenever they want to come out of the club - brilliant idea! We have spent Halloween at the resort and it was amazing including entertainment for kids, adults and even a special Halloween buffet with desserts shaped into eyeballs and such. We were also very impressed with the restaurants. No booking system so you just need to show up. However if you go after 7 you might have to wait a bit for a table. Definitely worth trying all of them as we did not have a bad meal in that place. Service was very friendly. We were always well looked after by Martin, Diego, Juan and Francisco at the pool, Refugio, Jamie and Pedro at the splash bar, Cesar and Antonio in Sand bar, Vicente and Alan in the lobby bar are so smooth. We were also very impressed with waiters in the buffet. Special mention goes to Carmen from the lobby bar who is the sweetest and kindest lady. We have also met some great people and made some friends we hope to stay in touch with. We were upgraded to preferred club this time by our friends and were able to go into the lounge on few occasions. Is it worth the extra money? To be honest if you go with kids and don’t mind being at the main pool – probably not. although preferred breakfast was very nice too 😊 We would quite happily move into this place but since we have to go back to work for now we will definitely be going back for another holiday!

    Amazing!!!! Book it

This is our second time visiting this resort from the UK, we loved it so much last year that we decided we would book it again. Our second visit did not disappoint, in fact we are considering making this an annual trip in addition to a family holiday. The staff are what sets this resort apart from any others we have been to, they treat you like family and I found it emotional leaving to go home. Nothing is too much trouble and the food and resort are fantastic. The entertainment team work exceptionally hard to ensure that you enjoy your vacation to its fullest. Luigi ( his smile lights up a room ) heads up the team and is assisted by Xavier ( amazing DJ), Ivan,Isaac, Omar ( great laugh) Julio, Osidides, Carly, Katherine and Danielle. Service at breakfast was amazing with Mardo & luis getting our drinks ready before we even sat down. The bar staff are also great, Cesar, Antonio and Gabriella at the beach bar are such fun and Miguel and Jose by the preferred pool make you feel special. Carmen in the lobby, Jorge in the Asian restaurant etc etc So many wonderful staff, I wish I could list them all. Anyone who is fortunate enough to visit will experience the ‘magic’ of this resort. The rooms and building are nice , not ‘wow! And Mother Nature does often leave seaweed on the beach but that is offset by the staff and food. Looking forward to booking a return visit.
