Great Holiday August 2019
Our first visit to the DR and the Now Larimar which was recommended to us. We were not disappointed at all, this is a really good hotel and perfect for families like us. Its very difficult to find anything negative to say about this resort. The staff really make this place special, we were in the preferred club and looked after by Elias O who is a really nice and friendly guy who took care of us really well - nothing was to much trouble for him and he worked so hard making sure we were happy. Also special mentions to Daniel, Winston, Miguel and Elias (again) who looked after us during our meal times. This resort is very clean and safe and the rooms are kept very clean, special mention to Maria in house keeping who was so sweet. We upgraded to a Master Suite during our second week that was just a whole new wonderful experience with front ocean view and huge balcony. The food here is good and safe. Again we had some reservations about coming from the UK given all the negative news coming out of the DR in recent weeks, but rest assured you do not have to worry about drinking or eating anything bad. In fact I don't think I have been anywhere before where it has been cleaner. The food choice is very good from the buffet to the four restaurants. Some reviews mentioned that 2 of the 4 will be closed each night, which was a slight pain, but not really an issue, just a bit annoying - it is the low season I guess. One thing they could improve is dietary requirements as two members of my family require gluten free food, which is available (albeit sometimes limited) but it could be better labelled in the buffet and on menus rather than them keep asking to speak to the Chef each time before we ate...these guys are always happy to help and most of the time it was a language barrier that caused confusion. The pools and beach are great, yes there is seaweed, but they do a really decent job clearing it. The Spa and gym are good. Building Work - this is going on and its a hotel refurbishment. Yes we were told before we arrived by our agent that some room refurbishment will be going on, but its way more than that and yes its quite noisy by the pool area, so much so that we didn't use one of the smaller pools because of this - we will be telling our travel agent about this. However the plan for the hotel going forward sounds spectacular and I guess they need to get the work done during low season but this is probably the only slightly negative point. We had some minor issues with the room (er fan not working etc..), but these get sorted quickly when you report them. All in all this is a great resort and we had a great time and hope to come back again in the future. We would recommend this hotel.

Amazing family vacation!
Hello, this is my second time at this resort! I’ve spent an amazing week with my family. We were at the privilege club! Our favourite server was Santa and Roberto at the castaway restaurant!! My son fell in love with yocaira! The entire entertainment staff were very fun and made everyone participate! Especially omega!!! The Japanese restaurant is to die for!!!
Nice enough resort but didn’t really live up to our expectations
We visited Now Larimar Punta Cana as a family of 4 of us sharing 2 adjacent rooms which had an interconnecting door. The rooms themselves were reasonably nice and seemed to be relatively well maintained by the maids, who replenished the mini bar and other amenities on a daily basis. The facilities of the resort itself seemed on paper to be plentiful, with lots of different things to do and places to eat, but this was unfortunately not the case. Of the 5 à la carte restaurants that the resort advertises for evening meals, only 2 were open each night, with the ones open rotating each night. As such, although there appeared to be a wide variety of different places to eat, this was often not the case and we usually found ourselves eating in the same places two places: the Carnival buffet (which was open every night) and the Bluewater Grill (American restaurant). The Carnival buffet was definitely our favourite place to eat in the resort as it offered a wider variety of food which, surprisingly, was some of the best food we had during our stay here. The service at the Carnival buffet was generally quite good as well. Unfortunately the same could not be said for the Bluewater Grill, which we visited 4 times. Service was generally very poor here and mistakes were made with either our food, drinks, or both, on each occasion we visited. Service was slow here and the staff showed very little care with what they were doing. The bar staff around the resort were very attentive, especially in the preferred areas. We were especially pleased with the service from Mervin at the “quiet” preferred pool and Robert at the preferred lounge next to the main lobby. It must be said, however, that all the bar staff seemed very attentive. The daytime entertainment at this resort was certainly lacking. There were not many activities to do during the day, and what was available seemed to have been put together very half-heartedly. During the day, there were no activities you could do inside at all. The sports bar, which consisted of a table football table and a very poorly maintained pool table, only opened at 3pm, by which time there wasn’t as much need to get out of the sun. One of the main irritations we had with Now Larimar was their constant aim to push you to spend more money - even if you were already a preferred club member. This included wine lists being pushed in your face at restaurants, salespeople loitering in the main lobby to try and grab your attention, as well as people on the area between the main pool and the beach coming up to you to try and sell you one of their various excursions. The main problem with our stay at the resort, however, was the constant irritation of noisy building work throughout the day. The builders began their work at around 8 or 9 o’clock in the morning and didn’t finish until 7 o’clock at night. This work was extensive - it consisted of loud pneumatic drills and saws - and spanned across the entire length of the resort, so could be heard at the main pool, as well as the “relaxing” preferred club pool. The noise seemed to get worse throughout our stay at the resort to the point where it was hard to hear the person next to you talking. Overall the resort itself was very nice, and had pretty good facilities (especially the pools) and generally good food however the lack of attention to detail, poor waiter service overall and constant noisy building work meant that unfortunately we did not enjoy our stay at Now Larimar as much as we perhaps should have done.
GREAT family trip!
2 amazing weeks at now Larimar. Fab hotel, friendly staff and fantastic food. We had a lovely family suite and there’s so much to do. Great pools, right next to own private beach. The now entertainment team , especially La Diva - are simply brilliant and we saw some spectacular shows. Definitely recommend this place families and everyone else
