1st time traveling to Mexico with tweens
My husband and I have been to Mexico many times but have always stayed at adult only resorts. This was our 1st time taking our teenage daughters ages 14 & 16. One of the reasons we chose this hotel was because they advertised a "tween" program. Wasn't at all impressed with that aspect of the resort, I was hoping for more organized activities for them during the day encouraging them to meet others their age which there were none, it was basically a room dedicated to that age group, mostly gaming activities. Other than that we were very impressed with everything else this hotel had to offer. It was clean, well taken care of, employees were friendly & helpful. Food was excellent in all of the speciality restaurants. The buffet was great for breakfast. Castaways for lunch was delicious. The seaweed was an issue while we were there 1/2 the time, when we arrived it was not bad but by the end of our stay it was awful. Fighting a losing battle, they certainly tried but it's out of their control. Pools are great so it didn't affect our stay at all. We were preferred, In my opinion I wouldn't bother doing the upgrade to preferred, we didn't take advantage of any of the benefits. Rooms were spacious but lacked storage for clothes. Read many reviews complaining about rooms being warm, something we did not experience, our room was always very cold the ac worked very well & my husband is always hot. Great family resort would highly recommend!
Food poisoning on 2nd last day. Not good. Happened at lunch buffet. Would not return. So sad. Otherwise great stay. Which I didn’t almost die from food poisoning, but did. Don’t forget to keep you immigration cards!!!
Now Jade Riviera Cancun
This is a very nice & clean hotel. We had a couple inconveniences with the Preferred Club but nothing that derailed our vacation. The room temperature was the most inconvenient thing we ran into. If you are hot natured just be prepared to be in a hot room. They set all the rooms to 68 degrees Fahrenheit but it feels more like 75 in there. All we asked for was a fan but the only thing they could get out of that, was that our thermostat wasn't working but it technically was. Our favorite restaurant was Cin Cin. Second favorite was Spice; the hibachi specifically. The pools were very nice. The Preferred Club pool was by far our favorite because it wasn't over crowded and there were no kids allowed. With that being said, the "public" pool was a lot of fun because they had constant activities such as volleyball, zumba, aerobics, etc. But good luck getting a chair if you're there after 10 AM. The beach was very pretty, they were combating the seaweed the best they could so no complaints about it being there. Overall, we loved this hotel!
good service make happy nice relax rooms service 24 hours really good everithing clean awesome experience many options to eat and drinks good location closed to airport good for families and couples nice vacations
Great value, beautiful grounds and resort
First, the good: The grounds are beautiful, the location is quiet and reasonably close to the airport. The grounds keeping/maintenance staff work constantly to keep things nice. Overall the food was good to sometimes excellent. Cin Cin is a don't miss. The service and the food are top notch. The rooms are a nice size and tasteful. We had a ground floor room by the stairs, which turned out to be great, since it was on a small portion of the hall by itself. No one used the stairs. Housekeeping was excellent. The explorer club had a variety of activities and the staff seemed friendly and engaged with the children and a nice playground out back. Most of the staff were very helpful. Fire show dinner was entertaining, our daughter who is 6 enjoyed it and the food was one of the better meals we had. They even brought us extra of a few dishes on request. The not so good: Check in was sort of a mess. Despite being emailed several days in advance to confirm when we would arrive, our room was not ready. If your kids are younger, under 5 feet in height, the pools are all too deep for them, except the little kids pool. It's ok if they can swim, but if they're just learning most of the main pool is 4 feet deep. We bought some floaties for our daughter for $8, which seemed very fair considering the alternative. Chairs in the shade by the pool are gone by 930am with no one around. I wish they would remove people's stuff if they're gone more than 45 minutes. Preferred club area was nice, but the pool was adults only so we didn't use it much. It's very peaceful and the service at the bar is great. Never crowded, as most people had kids with them. The beach is nice, but small. Seaweed was only a big problem 1 day and the staff was working really hard to control it. Not much anyone can do about that. Overall, we'd come back, especially given the great price we paid. Pretty satisfied with AMResorts in general, both have been very good overall, just shy of being excellent.
