PLEASE READ BEFORE BOOKING
The luxury part of this resort is over exaggerated beyond belief. Not only is it maybe worth 2 stars at maximum, the customer service here removes another to leave it at 1. The staff apart from the front desk/ management is kind and hardworking so hats off to them. I ordered room service one day- a southern fried chicken sandwich which was a stale bun, a thinly sliced grilled chicken and some fries (pic attached). The second time I tried to order because I wasn’t feeling well, it took me 6 phone calls, calling for a manager and a phone replacement as the phones from 40 years ago do not work. The breakfast buffet is the smallest and most limited I have ever witnessed and I have been traveling to resorts for over 15 years. Bacon was so hard that you can break a tooth. They served stews for breakfast that were clearly from the day before on a daily basis. You literally either make eggs or eat a piece of bread. I can vouch for their fruit selection, though today the watermelon wasn’t even fresh as if it stayed out in the sun too long. The lunch options are also limited so you end up eating the same things every day just to avoid hunger. Their entertainment is poor at best. Nighttime shows are not as impressive as even 3 star resorts and this one is supposed to be 5. I believe this specific Now resort is going to heavily bring down the chain’s reputation. I have 4 friends that were interested in booking and will not do so post my experience. I am SO disappointed, it did not even feel like a vacation with the amount of times I was upset. Another important fact is that there was no hot water in the room for numerous mornings and nights. When the front desk was contacted, they would hang up the phone as soon as you asked about it.. I have been booking with Cheap Caribbean for the 7th year in a row and will not ever again as their star ratings are poorly reflected on the actual resort. It is worth paying extra money through Expedia but they are at least trust worthy. I paid for an ocean front room which is supposed to be an upgraded room. Pic below reflects the disgusting dirt in shower and the whole bathtub. Unfortunately, Cheapcaribbean only allows 2 pictures which makes sense why. The continuous running water in the shower was not fixable. If a resort is purchased and a new name attached, they require at least to improve to match Now standards. Cherry on top was the non stop construction noises, even at 10pm. They were not a simple nail in the wall, but lobby doors being changed late at night, welding and continuous drilling. It started on a Wednesday when I arrived and was still going on on the following Monday when I left. It’s mind boggling to me how it takes that many days, all day each day to fix the same door. They were also cleaning a room on a floor on top of mine and moving furniture (screeching sounds) after 10pm. Don’t count on taking a nap or sleeping at night if you’ve traveled a while and need any rest. When I asked to speak to a manager about some of these complaints, stupidly assuming they will care, the manager was nowhere to be found. Another odd fact that I haven’t seen anywhere else, they come into your room 1x to clean and 1x to.... no idea, they had no explanation as to why people were in my room the other times on numerous occasions. Literally, stared at me with blank faces. Another down side is the amount of staff that spoke 0 English. It makes sense as they accommodate what seems like mostly locals. There are many resorts and vacation options so please be smart how you allocate your money. I have made many of my friend and family circles aware of these complaints and it is guaranteed they will never book a Now resort or through Cheap Caribbean. This is simultaneously guaranteed for both the resort and CC to lose money, which they deserve to. Customer service reviews are so important and I shouldn’t have been my typical optimistic self to give such a falsely claimed luxury chain a chance. Please be cautious and do the same.
More like a Diamond in the rough than an Emerald
I booked the Now Emerald formally Oasis Sens I believe, before it even opened so we got an awe$ome deal. The place is clean comfortable, and surprisingly quiet, all things considered. We always bring earplugs so we can sleep better, but at some places there are plenty of load rude people, and I did not find that here. Everyone was friendly and accommodating, but I have always found the Mexican people delightfully friendly. The Italian restaurant was the best one we visited. We did spend most of our time at the buffet, and this is where I think this place falls short. Unfortunately most of my food from the buffet was cold or luke warm. The choices were just ok, I have had much better all inclusive buffet experiences just saying. Our son Michael loved being included in the activities, and thanks to Victoria and the activity team for making it fun for everyone. The beach was very clean! Barely any seaweed, we spent as much time as possible in the ocean. I could go on but to sum it up, it was worth spending our Thanksgiving at Now Emerald Cancun and would do so again if we find a good price. Thank you to all the workers there that make it a pleasure!
The resort needs updating!
Although it has a great location, the building needs to be modernized. Too many mirrors in hallways, the decor is very 1980’s, the furnishings are outdated, room phones are old & barely functional, the pastry selection at coco cafe is limited ( especially comparing to other unlimited vacation resorts ). But the staff & service are exceptional!!
Now Emerald- moderate
We read the reviews and decided to try it as we were only staying 3 nights. The check in was great and we paid to upgrade to a jacuzzi room on the 9th floor. View was amazing as you could see both lagoon and ocean. It was a Mexican holiday weekend and the outside breakfast restaurant was open. Super compared to buffet location. Dressing up for dinner was nice compared to other resort. Staff was mainly very friendly. Yes the resort has a lot of stairs, is tired looking and buffet food was moderate. Didn’t find any entertainment either. However if you’re looking for a quiet, decent beach for relaxing or walking - this location had it. Should s to the timeshare stuff. Very annoying. We were at another resort the next week with none of that. Totally changed the atmosphere during the stay. We would stay again if in the same room.
Stayed there for 2 nights during november. The location is absolutely great, nice beach and view. Buffet is NO good @ all. not lots of options; very very poor. French restaurant absolutely fantastic and very tasted. Staff kind and very helpful....@ least the most of them. Room old and with a weird smell. Overall good stay but probably not the best now property. We will try something different next time
