Great vacation, but place needs work
We recently traveled with 2 families and their children. We would have fun anywhere, but the hotel needs improving. The grounds were beautiful and the pool was very clean. The children's activities are lacking a bit. The pool bar did not open until 11 a.m. and service was very slow. I know the hotel is under renovation, but only one of the restaurants was open for dinner and the service was quite slow during the day even though there seemed to be ample staff around. The staff was very friendly, but not on top of things as they should have been. We purchased rooms with the "club" level which was a waste. The staff would put out 6 plates at a time to serve numerous people and people would stand around waiting awhile to get a stale bagel and some coffee. They also had a couple of cereal box options, but not even close to what they should have offered. The food could be improved dramatically in the club as well as by the pool. The BBQ was probably the best option at the pool for lunch. The rooms were not cleaned as well as they should have been and were not cleaned even when we put the sign on the door. On a couple of nights, we got home from dinner and our room was not cleaned. I then called to get more towels for the next morning. One morning, a staff member knocked on the door to clean the room when the sign was not on the door. Definitely this issue should be addressed. Overall, the resort was quiet and we had a great time. Not sure if we would be apt to return so soon.
An awesome Oasis In PR
The Hotel is Gorgeous, service is impecable, everything has been restored after the Hurricanes in 2018, everything looks brand new, Had a great dinner experience in the High Quality Teppan Table and food was wonderfull.
Puerto Rico paradise
Stunning rebuilt Hyatt property on the water. Rooms and facilities are beautiful! A great quiet vacation spot to relax or perfect for a destination wedding. Pool is fabulous plus poolside service was right on!
Don't stay here.
This place has Hyatt brand affiliation, but is run like a rinky-dink local operation. Don't be fooled. Service is slow and indifferent. If you're expecting a resort experience, look elsewhere. Food is expensive, average at best, bad at worst, and served by intrained staff who ruin the experience. Same with the bars. The resort was bearly empty when I stayed there, and full of employees, but still had to leave by car to get a decent meal or drink because the service at the resort was so slow and spotty. I have no clue what Hyatt is thinking letting their name and brand image be associated with this place. The grounds are great, but the service experience needs a gut renovation!
Does not meet Hyatt standards
The service at this hotel was terrible. Lots of employees standing around talking to each other and doing nothing. On our first day, my husband ordered us drinks at the pool bar. The woman working at the bar did other things and kept him waiting for about 20 minutes before even taking his order, despite the fact that he was the only guest at the bar waiting to order drinks. She then spent a ridiculous amount of time slooowly making our drinks. Service by the pool was practically nonexistent. During the hours we spent by the pool throughout the course of 4 days, we were approached by a waiter seeking to take our drink/food order exactly one time. This was particularly inconvenient given that we were vacationing with our 4 year old and infant daughter, and one of us would have to leave the pool to walk to the restaurant to order lunch for our 4 year old. That leads me to our infuriating experience with the restaurant. Currently there are 3 restaurants open, with only 1 open for breakfast and lunch. Each day, I or my husband walked over to that restaurant to get lunch for our 4 year old while the other remained at the pool with the kids. On each day, despite the fact that the restaurant was otherwise empty, and despite the fact that we were only ordering one meal off the kids' menu, we waited 30+ minutes for our food. The restaurant had multiple employees standing around chatting and not one of them checked in with us or acknowledged the long wait. We most certainly would have spent much more money on food and drinks at the hotel had the service been better. On one of the days, housekeeping never cleaned our room despite the fact that I called them and asked them to send someone over. When we returned to an unserviced room at the end of that day, I simply called and asked them to take out our trash and change our towels, which they did do (keep in mind that there is no place to hang the various bath towels in the bathroom so you will have no choice but to throw your used towels on the floor, even if you are willing to reuse them). The next morning, housekeeping showed up at our room at 8:30 in the morning. I have never had housekeeping show up that early in any othet hotel I've ever stayed in. We were not ready and I asked them to come back in 20 minutes, but they never returned. I had to call them again before we left for dinner so that our room wasn't neglected for a second day. What was even more bizarre was that on our last day at the hotel, housekeeping knocked on our door at around 9am to ask what time we were planning on checking out. Then later when we were actually leaving the room to go check out, the same person was in the hallway and asked me if we were done and if she could go in. I guess she was in a hurry to clean for the next guests? Still, it was strange, a bit rude, and I'd never experienced anything like it. Another thing to know- the hotel charges guests to park in their parking lot. This would be annoying as a general matter, but even more so when the hotel is full of vacancies and you're being charged as a guest to oark in a nearly empty lot. The only good thing I have to say is that the grounds are pretty, and unlike the other hotel staff, the people maintaining the landscaping and outdoor spaces were hard at work in the heat all day. I'm guessing Hyatt saw potential in the hotel based on the aesthetics, but there is a long way to go in training the hotel employees to meet Hyatt standards. We never would have booked this hotel had it not been affiliated with the Hyatt name, but I suppose the key word is affiliated- it is not a true Hyatt.
