Not a party hotel Sunday-Thursday, but still super chill

OK, so I wanted to book a great vacation away for my girlfriend and I, so naturally started looking at Cabo. I started out just looking for something barebones cheap, for a quick getaway, but then started to look more into something that was actually going to be a Fun vacation. I started with the typical All Inclusive resorts, but by the time that you added in all of the extra (realistic travel dates, etc), they weren't looking so great. I really wanted to be on Medano Beach, and stumbled across the ME. It looked rad. I liked the high energy, hip vibe, DJ at the pool on the weekends, pool beds instead of just lounge chairs, etc. So, I booked it. We stayed Saturday 6/8- Wednesday 6/12. Saturday was definitely as they advertise it to be, with the Dj in full action, bottles of Dom being popped left and right, pasties for bikini tops, etc. and the action was going off. It was actually a bit too much, but still cool. Come Sunday, it was a COMPLETELY different resort though. Being used to the AI resorts, I am used to the pool being packed by 8am, with people reserving their spots, no open lounges, etc. Not here. The pool doesn't even open until 10, no one started trickling in until after 11, and even then it was barren. The vibe was cool though, they had music playing and I think had a DJ come in about 2pm, or they may had the music kicked up a bit at that point. It was super chill though, and just relaxing. We chilled at the pool every day of our vacation from that point forward, and even extending it one more day to Thursday, with it always being super chill and not a Vegas crazy pool scene at all. The clientele was pretty much spread between upper 20's to lower 40's, no kids on any days, but there were a some older couples and I was wondering how they had stumbled across booking here, unless they already knew that outside of Friday/ Saturday was just super low key. Even though I booked the hotel, expecting it to be popping off everyday, I actually preferred it to be chill and just relaxing, with good music instead of whom knows what they would be playing elsewhere. The poolside service was always on point with buckets of glass beer bottles, Tito's and sodas and anything else we wanted. I am sure that us being one of 10 people at the pool made it easy too. The pool concierge, Freddy, was amazing. He was always around to see if we needed the umbrellas moved to make sure we had shade, give info about where to head out dancing at night, tell us about the slow/busy times (I never knew that summer was their slow time), give tips about the hotel, etc. I never got any of the servers or bartenders' names, but they were were all good too. We partook in some massages and they were top notch. My GF had Israel, who was good and I had Elizabeth, whom was amazing. Seriously one of the best massages that I've had and it was only my back. The spa was very nice with its ambiance, features, the massage itself and everything. With the exception of the first morning, we ate breakfast every other day at the Blue Marlin Ibiza restaurant and it was on point for sure. I tried something different everyday, but my favorite was just the Mexican Burrito (yes, I know that burritos ARE Mexican, but that was the specific name). The first day, we had room service of breakfast in our room, and it was phenomenal. I will say though, that that was the first time that I realized just how damn expensive everything was going to be. They brought out food and we asked for 4 extra waters (they provide 2 per day in the room). Stupid me was thinking that they'd bring us back the 2 we'd get for the day and then 2 more that we'd pay for. Well, when he came back with (4) bottles of Evian instead of 4 of the promo bottles, I knew I was going to have to pony up. Little did I know that after the Room Service fee and tip, that I'd be in for over $50 for those 4 bottles of liquid gold!! We also had dinner at the Blue Marlin Ibiza Restaurant and it was unbelievable every night. I was sad that we were always only one of up to maybe 3 people dining each night, but they still had it prepped with FRESH everything, to be ready for a party of 50. I had something different every night there as well, but it was all amazing. The last night, I had the Red Snapper and it was the best that I've had. Downsides are that it isn't cheap. Bloody Marys with breakfast were $17.00 each, drinks at the pool are the same and I don't even remember how much the beers were. They don't have (that I ever saw) drink lists, so you don't know how much things are until you pay, and the price is in pesos, so unless you are good at math on the fly, you have no idea how much things are until you get your tallied bill to sign for at the end of the day. They were letting walk ins come from off the beach to use the pool area, as long as they bought their drinks there. I was a bit turned off by that, since we are the ones shelling out the money to stay at this hotel, so use the facilities, but they are letting just anyone in. I did feel for the resort though, because they were SO SLOW, so they had to make some money somewhere (besides my bar tab). Also, they had a crew of girls come in that were a $hit show to watch, so it was worth it seeing them making fools of themselves, passing out, waking back up and repeat. Rooms were great, view from our room was insane, towels in the rooms were So plush (that's a big one for me), they grounds were kept very nice, service everywhere was good and I really don't have much to complain about. Actually, I do have one complaint that almost cost me $300. When I booked, my package included free breakfasts and "$500 of resort credits". I when I checked in, they gave me $150 of resort credits ($75 for massage that basically couldn't be used and $75 for dinner). At the time, I had forgotten that I was supposed to get $500 and didn't remember until the day before we were to leave. When I remembered, I checked my email, forwarded it to my hotel concierge and was like WTF? She read the text and didn't get back to me for an hour, so I walked down to the lobby and asked her about it. She said she was going to get approval from her supervisor and would get me the certificates. She did and it was $100 for the pool bar, $200 for dinner and $200 for the spa (again worthless though, because it was broken up into (4) $50 certificates, but they couldn't be applied to anything already discounted at all. The regular massages were $170 for 50 minutes, but they had a special for a 50 minute massage for $100 that we got instead, but of course couldn't use any of the certificates with that one so.....worthless). We ended up extending our stay an extra night, so were able to use the certificates, but otherwise they would have gone to waste and I would have been super pissed. All in all, a great resort and I'd like to head back again soon.

    A little Ibiza in Cabo

Me Cabo is a fantastic resort! It is definitely for the younger, active crowd. There is a DJ that starts spinning dance tunes around 4:00, just in time for happy hour. The view from the rooms is breathtaking and it's steps away from the beach. If you're looking for quiet, don't stay here. There's a lot more activity and noise than other hotels. But it is one of my favorites!
