  Lovely Stay Thanks to the Staff, but Service Needs Improvement

  I recently stayed at, Corendon Mangrove Beach Resort for a staycation. The resort itself is beautiful and has a great atmosphere, but I was a bit disappointed with the service overall. It often felt like international guests, especially Americans, were given priority, while locals were helped last. I understand that staff might expect more tips from tourists, but it’s disheartening when you feel overlooked in your own island’s hotel. Another issue was at the main buffet. By 2:05 PM, about 70% of the food was already finished, even though it was supposed to stay open until 2:30 PM. If it were 2:25, I would understand not restocking, but it was too early for such limited options. Also, if you don’t arrive for breakfast before 8:00 AM, you might find that there are no proper plates or glass cups left, only carton cups available. That being said, several staff members truly made my stay exceptional and deserve recognition for their amazing attitude and service. Entertainment: Jay D’Sean and Curtley, always full of energy and made every activity fun. Guest Services: Ray, very kind and helpful. Bar: Estrella, Dylan, Deyo, Tivar, Juhuendrick, and Chanel, all outstanding and friendly. Rif: Sheedy and Angel, very attentive and welcoming. Restaurant: Donovan, took my complaint seriously and assured me that it would be addressed, which I really appreciated. Thanks to these amazing people, my stay was still enjoyable and memorable. I hope management can work on creating a more balanced and consistent guest experience because the team truly has great potential.

  We visited the Mangrove Coredon for five nights in November. As a travel advisor , I was beyond nervous about the negative reviews. I was pleasantly surprised. ARRIVAL - check in went fairly quickly. Hilton reservations had the wrong room type initially, but Daniele (manager) was able to correct the error, give us rooms close to each other and arrange some wonderful amenities. Glinton and Daniele were able to take care of any issues for us with a smile. DINING - this is where I heard the most complaints from others we met. The dining reservation system allows you to reserve meals for one day in advance from the hours of 10am - 4pm. We met several people who could not get into any special dining areas and ate at the buffet for their evening meals. This is where hint #1 would be the most beneficial. Hilton Gold and Diamond members are allowed to make dining reservations for their entire stay when checking in. There is a Hilton credit card that comes with Gold status for $95 (business) or $150 (personal). If you value having dinner reservations for your entire stay without having to queue up daily, consider this card. HILTON BENEFITS - We did have Diamond status, which gave us the dining reservation benefit above, as well as access to the RIF MANGROVE next door. The buffet food area is open to both Hilton Mangrove guests as well as the RIF guests. However, the area that you sit and eat in is separate. RESTAURANTS - we all thought the food was good for dinners in the specialty restaurants. The beef filet (Harbor) was cooked perfectly and tender. Sofra (Turkish) had amazing kebobs. For the buffet option, the Rif area (Otrobanda) is on one side of the buffet and the Hilton Mangrove area (Breeze) on the other side. The Rif side is much calmer and seemed to have better service so we sat there daily for breakfast and lunch. The Harbor on the Rif side also had menu table service lunch vs buffet. The buffet did have a wide variety of food with lots of fresh fruit, salads, meats, etc. I recommend NOT going to breakfast at 9am as that was a bit crowded and hard to find tables/cups/plates. FITNESS - the gym was well equipped and air conditioned. I did not see any group exercise activities, which would have been a fun addition. They had a pickleball court, but did not have serviceable equipment. They did play volleyball on the beach but other group fitness/fun activities would be a welcome addition during the day. Hint #2 - bring pickleball equipment if you want to play. WATERPARK - the Cobra slide was a fun activity. The yellow open air slide was under repair, and there are also two smaller slides that were operating. CIGAR BAR - We saw there was a TV in the Cigar Bar and wanted to watch football. We did not realize that the Cigar Bar was an extra charge, and any drinks ordered there were not included. So....we had a very unexpected $150 drink bill that was frustrating. I understand that the Cigar Bar has a mention that it is not part of the all inclusive program, but I could not find any such warning. BEACH CABANAS - we rented a beach cabana for our group. Sadiye was the gem of a server assigned to our cabana. She visited often checking on us and brought any beverages we asked. Ray checked in on us a few times and gave us information about the resort and asked for feedback on our experience. DRINKS - We do wish they had more mixers for the beverages. For instance, lemon juice instead of lemonade and fresh lime juice instead of limeade for making drinks. I loved the self serve pop, beer, wine and water stations. They served Coke products for soft drinks. For the STAFF benefit - we seemed to be one of the few groups that tipped for dining, beverage and housekeeping services. The staff did work hard to please guests, and would hope guests would reward their efforts with a bit extra cash. I really wish they'd allow the staff to dress in temperature appropriate clothes. Much of the staff was dressed in all black long pants and shirts. The temperature was consistently in the 90's, and their lives would be more comfortable and just as professional in lighter colored clothes and dress shorts vs pants. They workers were cleaning the beach areas regularly. The dirty areas were in the halls of the hotel portion and the dishes and clumps of hair seemed to remain there for days. EVENING entertainment - We saw a fire show on the beach and some bands/singers. The entertainment was outside near the pool and open air vs a stage. POOLS - We did prefer the RIF pool, but both were clear and clean. The water was deep throughout both pool areas. The Mangrove side was missing some tiles and parts of the pool floor needed repair, but it did not affect the use of the pool. Water was refreshing at both pools as well as the lap pools that were there. We always found plenty of pool towels available as well as available seating. Hint #3 - bring floats if you want to float in the pool. They are permitted. LOCATION - Hilton Mangrove's location (walking distance to town) is ideal. We went to town on foot three times and the walk is under 15 minutes. There are also nearby casinos if you choose to play as well as shopping/sightseeing in town. Best route is through the Mondi beach club and along the service road, and walking through the RIF fort. BEACH - we brought snorkel gear and saw some fish. Sand had some coral so was a bit rough on your feet. Hint #3 - I'd recommend water shoes. Excellent snorkeling and diving can be had off the resort on a tour/excursion. We usually stay at Secrets, Sandals, Iberostar Selection, Riu Palace, Grand Fiesta America, etc so you can get an idea what I'm comparing the experience to. It is a solid deluxe property that should please families and couples with reasonable expectations.

  Georgiane and Sherline are great, very accommodating and friendly. Great service all round, will surely be back.!!!!
