    Amazing time!

    Clean rooms, lots to do. Beautiful clean beach and incredible food. We were a group of 8 so we were difficult to accommodate but the servers made sure we were all seated together every time. Outside of the resort is pretty sketchy. Not sure I’d recommend going out to other resorts at night either. Security was notable and somewhat reassuring. The only negatives were it was hard to get any booze in the morning like a specialty coffee or Mimosas .... and the coffee cream, milk, or what ever it is was enough to make a coffee drinker home sick. I was also frustrated with the lack of replenishing beer in the beer fridge in the rooms. Had to beg and plead to get it filled up. Fantastic resort and no kids was quiet and orderly !

    Great hotel

    This hotel is part of a big complex but it doesn't feel that way possibly due to the adult only nature of the hotel and not being available for use by all users of the other hotels. There was an issue with the allocated room on arrival but was soon remedied by Paulo (one of the hotel managers). The room was of a good standard and very spacious; the daily housekeeping service was also very good. The pool area is very large, clean, excellent drinks service without having to leave the sun lounger and no issues getting loungers on a daily basis. Ramon (the towel man) is a great guy and very friendly always. Walk from the pool and you are right on the beach which is stunning with clear blue water and clean sand (seaweed is regularly cleared as stated by other reviewers which is also a great benefit). The hotel staff were all very friendly and attentive without being overbearing. The stand out staff were Tatiana (manager), Florida (lobby bar waitress) and Alexander (MEAT restaurant waiter). The food was of a very good standard in the buffet restaurants and always fresh and plentiful. Of the other restaurants available to book; Portofino was excellent as was MEAT, Maiko Teppanyaki was tasty food and entertaining and Limbo is an excellent gourmet restaurant. The Arrecifie restaurant on the beach was disappointing. The fish which was served was lukewarm at best and the vegetables were cold. The meat served straight from the skewer was very greasy and fatty so pretty inedible so we left quickly and went back to the buffet instead. The evening entertainment was also of a high standard with the Burlesque and Vegas shows being definite highlights. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would return again for a good relaxing break.

    Amazing resort and wonderful vacation!

    This was our third trip to the Dominican Republic and we have just returned (from May 11th to May 18th, 2019) and it was by far the best resort I have been in Punta Cana at the Luxury Bahia Principe Ambar (Adult-Only and newly renovated). You really have the best of both worlds with access to the 5 others (Esmeralda, Aquamarine, Punta Cana, Bavaro and Turquesa) which was great for entertainment at night and eating in their restaurants for the à la carte or just relaxing in the day time without hearing kids screaming on the adult side of Ambar. Check-In – The quickest and most relaxing check-in we have experienced from all the trips we have done. You even get a RFID bracelet to open your room door (no more cards to drag along with you). We were greeted by Lysius and he was very nice, friendly and funny. The right person to be welcomed just upon arrival to this fabulous resort. Beach – It was beautiful with not much seaweed but if ever there was they did an amazing job clearing it right way (better job than most of the other resorts). The water was clear as we could see further away that the big waves were hitting a corral barrier. If you like to do some running or walking, this is definitely the best place to do it as you can do it for miles on the beautiful coral sand. You could also see further away a shipwreck that was broken into two distinct sections from back in 1978. I got to swim underwater with my scuba diving mask and got to see some large silver fishes. If you like to see coloured fish, it’s not the best place to see them as there are no corrals around to swim at but the bottom is just clear sand and great for walking when out to take a swim. Food – The food was great with so much variety and we loved going to the buffet in the morning and lunch in the afternoon at Las Brisas. The employees there were so nice and you could tell that they were happy to serve us as they were always cheerful and smiling. I wish that I had all their names but Ricardo and Miguel stood out for us. We got to reserve many à la carte restaurants and it was very easy using their application on our phone. Our favorite was the Portofino Italian restaurant and thanks to Eury for the great service. We also loved the Asian Taraka restaurant (great sushi). The steak house restaurant M.E.A.T. (took the rib eye steak) and Tex Mex Santa Fe (took chicken/steak fajitas) were good. Our least favorite was the El Olivo restaurant because the wait was very long between services and you would only get a small portion in your plate. Not recommended if you are a heavy either but the food was good. The house wine (Cayo Sol) was okay but they always had a special drink menu that you could try at the à la carte restaurants and they were great! We always tipped at the restaurants as the employees truly work very hard to always make sure we’re satisfied. Room - The best room we have ever got on vacation as it was a corner room which was very big and it was very luxurious. We stayed in block 60 room 208 (first building off the beach and pool). The room had a bit of an ocean-view but the view in front on the pool was amazing. The air conditioning worked very well, always had hot water in the shower and USB sockets next to bed to charge our phones. Thank you Lysius ! Butlers – The butlers were incredibly superb and always delivered on our request. We got to choose our pillow from a pillow menu on nigh two. We got to choose a special oil smell and have a red bottle of wine delivered to our room. Thanks Niky and Jean! Pool – The set up was very nice and great service at the swim up bar. Benjamin Franklin and Tomas provided the pool entertainment and were amazing. I have to say that you have the best employee for the beach towel exchange. What better way to start your day and end it with Ramon. He’s very pleasant and with a very friendly personality and puts you in a joyful mood. The staff were so great and ensured we had an amazing experience and they meet all our expectations. Very friendly, polite and always had a smile on their faces. They will go out of their ways to make sure you’re happy. Even the manager walks around the resort and stops us to ask if everything is to our satisfaction. The resort maintains such incredible standards for quality in their service, décor, food, cocktails and, most importantly, the overall quality of the experience. I definitely would love to come back again one day!

    Great vacation marred by unresolved incident

    My wife and stayed at the Ambar in mid April. On our first day, after we had signed in and received our bands and 7 prebooked vouchers, we were offered an upgrade by the concierge to a swim up room for $100US cash. It seemed unusual but we took it. There were some peculiarities that I immediately noticed when we arrived at the room (already decorated for my wife's birthday and champagne service) that made me believe this had always been our assigned room and the $100US was a scam. This was only 5 minutes from agreeing to the room change. I forwarded a full report to the General Manager Israel Martinez. He agreed that this was not standard practice and stated he would investigate. Over the next week to 10 days we emailed back and forth but he has been silent since April 24th. I have also written to the CAO in Spain with no response. A failure in what I thought was going to be excellent complaint investigation/resolution. All I wanted to do was to identify a bad practice and was not seeking any compensation. Despite this hiccup we had a beautiful swim-up room and our entire stay at the resort was great. Great food (great work F&B Manager Tatiana and her team) and our room was always serviced promptly. It is a beautiful resort. We will just be more wary of certain staff in the future. I will not name names.

    Amazing holiday

    We had the best holiday ever here. The staff were excellent, friendly, welcoming, go above and beyond to make your stay as comfortable as possible . Special mentions have to go to Jessica at the pool bar and Salvador and Ramon in the restaurant. Rooms are clean modern and luxurious. The rainfall shower is amazing we stayed in block 61 room 206. The choice of food in the restaurant is immense and presented so well, we loved the hand sanitizer when you walk in, a lovely little touch when using a buffet facility.
