GREAT PLACE, LOUSY VIEW!
We reserved one of the lower priced "GARDEN VIEW" rooms, but were given one of the worst rooms available with views of a trash covered rooftop, giant air conditioning fans, and the service alley/maintenance yard. Even after talking to Luis about our disappointment, he "upgraded" us to one floor up, and one room over which did not enhance our room. We were too tired to complain any further at that point, even though we were told at check in that the hotel was only 75% occupied. Luis was very cocky and rude, but Carmen at the towel desk and the rest of the staff were wonderful! One warning, so not depend on the lifeguard at the pool, who stands by the bar looking cool, instead of staying on his lifeguard station. While we were there, a small girl nearly drowned because he was not at his station as required. It was sad to see her being given CPR by the pool, when it was his job to prevent her from sinking to the bottom to begin with. An avoidable tragedy to be sure.
Service and facilities were very good. Food was poor. Beautiful view from room to ocean and pool area. If you want coffee in your room it is extra. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Dinners at Bogart's were excellent.
Nice ocean view
If you expect a quiet place, that’s no the Krystal Hotel. There is lots of entertainment, it’s family friendly, has a great pool and beach access. They provide towels for the beach/pool. Staff at the restaurants is every attentive.
We just returned from 7 days at this resort after getting an amazing deal from Air Canada Vacations. So here are the good points. It is right on a gorgeous beach. Golden sand and beautiful blue water. Some islands off in the distance for a lovely view. The palapas fill up fast so go down early and drop off something to mark your territory. The pools are gorgeous and refreshing. Very clean. Same deal here if you want a deck chair. Go down before 8am and leave a shirt or something. Everyone seems to honor the system. Rooms are clean. AC works. It has cable TV but virtually all channels are in Spanish which is to be expected. The food. Is fine. We were able to find something good at every meal. The temperature of the food was an issue at times but we never had a meal that was bad. The a la carte venues are pretty good. Bogart's has a nice feel to it and decent food. Staff there are very attentive ans professional. On the subject of staff. All the staff are very nice ans helpful. Jesus in the buffet was amazing. Always quick with a drink. Very personable. We Will return to this resort simply because Jesus was so amazing. So now the bad parts... I got nothing here. If you keep in mind it is a 3.5 star hotel. That you are in Mexico. That English is not the first language of Mexico. You will have an amazing time. If you are one of those people that think too many locals is a bad thing. Stay home. Great resort. Great town. The server Jesus made it even better.
Ixtapa - Paradise
We have been traveling to Ixtapa for over 25 plus years and have stayed at several different resorts as we are unable to exchange our timeshare due to having to do all inclusive which we don't like! We choose the Krystal Resort after that and have always been very pleased with the accommodations and the lovely pool area. We aren't forced to due all inclusive at the Krystal which we are very happy about as we love to eat at many fine local restaurants In Ixtapa and Zihua! The rooms are average, clean & comfortable (how much time do you spend in your rooms on vacation?) The only issue this year was it seemed like at the pool bar area they catered more to the all-inclusive guests for drinks and it was difficult getting the staff to understand to charge it back to our room, needless to say didn't order much! It is the staff at this resort that keeps us going back, they are awesome and make everyone feel like family when you're there - Armondo, Jesus, Jose, Anabelle, Juan, Andres, Rafael & Reina love these people!!! They are always willing to help out with questions you may have and they truly are concerned about everyone having a wonderful stay and great time - we love the resort and the staff there!! My only suggestion would be it would be great if they would offer different levels of all-inclusive for example just for beverages or just breakfast or just lunch especially for people with young children the breakfast or lunch options would be great!
