A bitter sweet stay that nearly missed a passing grade...
I write this just as I am packing from a four night stay in Krystal. Unfortunately, there were various points that urgently need to be addressed in the hotel in order for it to subsist. The food is, with very few exceptions, very bad. I kept complaining, because my all inclusive stay ended up costing a fair bit as I had to dine out twice as the buffets were, for lack of a better word, disgusting. The highlight was Bogart’s and a wee bit the Cirque Terre dinner. The rest was badly made food and horrible ingredients. Virginia the newly appointed chef explained me that she’s trying to change things, and I guess things dont happen overnight, but to me, a paying customer, the solution will come late, as I have wasted my money in this food already. The snack bar food (including the drinks) was crap as well. Terrible. Moving on to the positive the staff were really nice. Daniel deserves to be a manager. He is AMAZING. Jaime and Pepe were really good. The security staff and the receptionists and other servers were reall dolls and the hotel should be proud of its people. They are all proud of their brand and do their best. The kids from the pools activities were super fun as well. The rooms are ok. Many paint and upkeep details, but I guess maintaining this property doesnt come cheap. The pool and beach were pristine (we even saw a turtle laying eggs on our last morning!) but it is a bit annoying that the pool guy kept moving us off the pool. Guy should do his job earlier. I guess the people and beach/pool areas were the ones that saved the score this time around. Barely. Am I planning to come back? Unfortunately, I don’t think so.
Should be 3 stars tops
We were very disappointed with the resort overall. The best thing about the resort was the size of the room and that the beds were reasonably comfortable. The food left a lot to be desired - no variety at all. The lounge chairs by the pool/beach were dirty and broken. Unless you were up at dawn to "reserve" a chair you were out of luck for a chair by the pool. Garbage cans were sparse so some people (sadly mostly "locals" left all their garbage when leaving the area. Service at pool bars sucked. Lastly there was a big language barrier. I understand we were in Mexico but I feel that a resort should have sufficient staff that speaks English to deal with certain things. There was NO entertainment and the only bar/lounge at the resort closed at midnight. We ended up eating only breakfast at the resort and spent extra money on food and entertainment in the town of Ixtapa - which was lovely. I won't be back to this resort.

I stayed in the hotel Krystal, with great service!!! Look for DANIEL!!!! He has the best personality and greeted us with an amazing smile!!! Wonderful service with him, and I will totally come back to see him.
GREAT PLACE, LOUSY VIEW!
We reserved one of the lower priced "GARDEN VIEW" rooms, but were given one of the worst rooms available with views of a trash covered rooftop, giant air conditioning fans, and the service alley/maintenance yard. Even after talking to Luis about our disappointment, he "upgraded" us to one floor up, and one room over which did not enhance our room. We were too tired to complain any further at that point, even though we were told at check in that the hotel was only 75% occupied. Luis was very cocky and rude, but Carmen at the towel desk and the rest of the staff were wonderful! One warning, so not depend on the lifeguard at the pool, who stands by the bar looking cool, instead of staying on his lifeguard station. While we were there, a small girl nearly drowned because he was not at his station as required. It was sad to see her being given CPR by the pool, when it was his job to prevent her from sinking to the bottom to begin with. An avoidable tragedy to be sure.
