Beautiful Views and Great Staff but fell short in some areas
My wife and 2 adult children wanted to get away and relax so we came here because we were able to great a good deal and it had an “adult only”tower. The rates were good but the “adults only” tower WAS NOT “adults only” ARGH! This was VERY disappointing as we just wanted some quiet adult time. The food was ok with Risotto being our favorite. The staff everywhere was very nice especiallyJuan and the manager at Risotto as well as Enrique the bartender on top of the “adult only(not) tower. We also had difficulty staying away from smokers. Sure wish this was a non-smoking property. Rooms were nice and the views from our rooms were great as well as from the rooftop area(a must see). Hearing the waves crashing from our balcony almost made up for the noises from the many children in the tower. Very disappointed that we paid extra to be in a quiet adult only tower that wasn’t. The blonde food/drink attendant by adult pool was great. Another concern we had, and many other guests did as well, was that the property advertised “drink of the day” but we were told various times at different bars that they did not have the necessary ingredients for their advertised drink of the day. The same thing happened with a few of the food items on their menus. Disappointing. Overall a decent trip for our family, but we were hoping for a great trip as we aren’t able to get away very often together.

Had it ups and numerous downs
We did our summer family vacation at the Krystal Grand. We enjoyed the Ayami restaurant. The Grill has very good food - it was open two of the four days we stayed at the resort. The buffet is a buffet - go with whatever is bring cooked on the grill. The staff provides good service. The parents enjoyed the lounging by pool. My wife, her sister, brother-in-law, and two nieces arranged a horse back ride on the beach. The concierge was absolutely no help when I asked about a fishing charter. His advice was do an internet search. When I came back from fishing and asked for help with packing the tuna we caught, again the the concierge was absolutely no help. Our 10 year old was looking forward using the "Core Zone Teens Club". This room no longer exists - it is now a storage room. There are not activities for older kids or teens. Do not expect the resort to make an effort to accommodate teens or older kids. To get the dock for the fishing charter I arranged the resort said they could arrange a taxi for $20US, which is $380MX. Uber was $150MX. For airport transportation the resort quoted $400US - I found a service for $140US. With 12 people we had 5 rooms. Every room was a different layout. In one room the roof leaked on the bed and occupants had to move. In my room there was foam on top of the mattress to make the bed softer. The term "ocean view" for rooms has different meaning. The view may be spectacular, partially obstructed, most obstructed, only if you willing to risk leaning far off the side of the balcony.
Our vacation started with a flight delay. We just didn't know what was ahead. Flying with Volaris was awful but I'll save that for another review. Once we finally arrived at the hotel, there were six of us in need of three double rooms. The first four checked in rather quickly. Then it was time for Wendy and I to check in. After about an hour, we were booked into a ocean view room instead of the garden view we had originally booked. We were all smiles and thinking it was worth the wait. The room was tiny but had an awesome view! Ok, this will work. Wendy then hears water dripping. Upon entering the bathroom, she noticed the drip was coming from the pot light in the shower. Water dripping from and electric light is NO BUENO! We went to dinner and stopped by the front desk to inform them. They said they would send someone to fix it. When we went back to the room later that evening, the drip was gone. Until the next morning. I am guessing that when the people above us took a shower, we got one too! Told the front desk again, still dripping. We got a call day 3 from our Apple rep and I thought it was the front desk and I start ranting about the dripping light! She apologized and said she would get someone to take care of that for us. As we headed to breakfast, we saw a maintenance worker heading to our room. Hopefully they will fix it! When we returned to the room, not only was the light still dripping but the actual light was hanging from its wires!! We then had to move rooms. In the meantime, two others travelling with us had no hot water! Cold showers are not fun even in sunny Los Cabos! They told the front desk several times and any other worker that would listen. Still didn't get it resolved. When the Apple rep called their room, they told her also. On the second to last day, she told the front desk again. The guy at the front desk, Christopher, said this was the first time he'd heard about this. They sent someone to the room and she said they weren't turning it on correctly. In the shower, the red was cold and the blue was hot. KiKi said that she'd tried that. No, you have to let it run for 15 minutes to get hot water. WHAT?? That's what we call BROKEN!!! They were finally able to shower comfortably on the second to last day. Our other duo, Thelma and Louise, walked into their room day 2 to a flooded bathroom. Of course they reported this to the front desk. Day 3, still flooding. Finally, they were told they need to replace the toilet. The hotel wanted to replace it at an inopportune time and Louise wasn't having it. No, you'll come back in 3 hours and have it done before we get back!! The hotel did as they were told. I guess we should have had Louise deal with our dripping light and no hot water. When Wendy and I moved to our new room, the light in the ceiling did not work because there was no remote to the ceiling fan. Christopher said he would send one up right away. That didn't happen. That night, I called the front desk again and I got Rude Rudolpho! I was mad and he wasn't having it. And neither was I!!! He sent maintenance to deal with the light. Now this brings me to another complaint about this resort. Most of it's staff does not speak english. So explaining your issue becomes more like a game of charades instead of a conversation. As for the light, it was never fixed. The adult pool is filthy but the family pool is very nice and they also have 'entertainment personnel' getting guests involved in games and other activities. Food. It's just MEH. If you go to this resort, I hope you won't after reading this, please allow 2.5 to 3 hours for dinner if you do not go to the buffet. Note that i said THE buffet not A buffet because there is only one and it's one of the saddest buffet's I've ever been to. One night we decided to go to the Italian restaurant. We were not allowed entry because some were wearing shorts and flip flops. Hmmm, what should i wear on a resort?? Rules are rules. But what do we look up and see coming out of the restaurant? A couple in shorts and flip flops. We asked had the eaten there and yes, they had. While speaking to them, another couple in shorts and flip flops exited the restaurant. The only difference between us and those two couples was the color of our skin. We're not caucasian. Thelma asked for the manager. He spoke to the lady the turned us away first, Rosalia and then he approached us. He immediately said that we could go in but Thelma wanted to know WHY this happened in the first place. No explanation was provided. We did not eat there. We went to The Grill for a three-hour dinner. We had lots of issues with this resort. Room issues, food issues and communication issues. However, there were a few standout staff members that made things bearable. Carlos, a host in a could of restaurants. He was very nice and would go out of his way to try to may your time in the restaurants a good experience. Oscar, a poolside server. Absolute sweetie. Always there before your cup was empty and happy to be of service. Oliver and Melissa, part of the entertainment crew. Lots of fun. Tried to engage everyone in the fun and games. Sergio, waiter in the restaurants. Always nice and attentive. Although, we will never go to this resort again, nore recommend it, we did me some nice people and had a good time with friends!
