Be warned - deceptive pictures
My wife and I came her for our 20th year wedding anniversary. I planned months in advance, reserved their Deluxe Oceanfront Room. Pictures on the website were amazing. What we walked up to and opened our door too wasn't. The room didn't look like the room we reserved at all. Outdated, didn't have a recessed ceiling with wood and was highly disappointing. The bathroom looked like it was supposed to. The view, amazing. But we paid for the room to be what was on their website. I called down and spoke to the manager and the first thing they explained was that the view was amazing. I said I know but the room we were given was not what was on their website. She explained that they only had 6 of these Deluxe Ocean Front rooms and only 2 of them (33%) were the same as the picture. This is deceptive advertising. To accommodate us, they issued us a $50 dollar credit per night. No worth it at all and didn't make up for being deceived. The property was pretty. The incredibly overpriced food and drinks were not. Did I mention that their breakfast buffet doesn't include coffee. Crazy... How can a buffet not include coffee. If you are going here, be warned. It's an average hotel. Not worth the money at all. The only amazing part of this hotel is the beach next to it. Pool is tiny. Our service in the most part was ok but we expected this hotel to match the status of being the most romantic hotel on the island. Far from it.
Wonderful, Relaxing Honeymoon
My husband and I stayed here on our honeymoon in mid-May. We had an amazing time at Ko'a Kea and would love to come back to stay again. Pros: - the service at the hotel is 5 star. Everyone working there was friendly, attentive, and helpful - the room was very nice. We had a partial ocean view that had a great view of the lawn and ocean - Red Salt was delicious. We ate there twice for dinner. Our server, Chris, was very personable and made our dinners great - Breakfast was included in our package. The continental buffet was average but the breakfast items off the menu were very tasty - the pool area was so quiet! Even though this is not an adults only resort during our stay there were only a couple of small babies. It was so relaxing by the pool, often times all you could hear were the waves crashing! - pool service was great and drinks were delicious - great resort for people traveling without children. There is not much for kids to do at the hotel compared to the Hyatt next door. This made for a very relaxing trip Cons: We enjoyed this resort SO much we really only had one complaint - not enough lounge chairs by the pool but especially not enough shade! People would save spots when the pool opened for later. They really could use several more umbrellas. There are lounge chairs on the lawn as well, but there are no umbrellas on the lawn. If they add more shade to the pool, it would make the pool area perfect! Of note, this hotel is on the ocean but not directly in front of a beach. There are two beaches on both sides of the resort which are a very short walk away. This was not an issue for us. You can rent chairs/umbrellas to bring to the beach. Tip: Definitely rent a car when traveling to Kauai. There is a valet fee but it was SO worth it to be able to explore the island. We used the car much more than we had planned.
Great Location on the Beach
Great Beach spot. You can get a room directly oceanfront, steps from the water. Very couple oriented, which was fine for my retried husband and myself. This was our second stay. This is also the drier part of the island on this side, which makes more great weather. Its hard to go wrong in the islands, but I will definitely be back. Rooms are very upscale. Need a better room service variety.
Mahalo, Ko’a Kea!
My wife and I have just completed another terrific stay. We’ve been coming (>annually) to Koa Kea since its opening. It has never failed to meet or exceed our high expectations. This small, quiet and beautiful boutique property is situated oceanfront between 2 great beaches. And serves as a wonderful adult retreat from the mainland-madness. Koa Kea is a great base- to explore and seek adventure on the Garden Isle, or to just relax and recharge the battery onsite. From the kind and accommodating staff, to the well maintained accommodations and facilities, to the outstanding food... the consistent quality is much appreciated and is to be commended. We can’t wait to return!
We fell in love with Kauai here.
This hotel is excellent in every way. The staff is helpful and charming, the rooms are perfect, comfortable, with incredible views. It’s a quiet hotel, but not boring, situated between two ideal beaches. Sunsets by the fire pits, the pool, the restaurant, all perfect. We’ll be back.
