    Horrible experience - below average hotel

    I just returned from a stay at the InterContinental and it was a horrible experience. This hotel is a 1 star across all categories. Service & Food: The service at this hotel is non-existent and the staff is clueless and rude. To order a drink or food by the pool you must go to the bar (have to swipe to get back in) and return to pick up the drink (also can't eat by the pool). No matter how simple the drink (ex: Wine, Prosecco --> Mojito), they took at least 20 minutes. The pool bar is operated like a fake bar because the "bartender" leaves to make every single drink even if it's wine. Mixed drinks were disgusting. I tried the breakfast buffet and the options were limited and the food was barely edible. It took 20 minutes to bring one cup of coffee and then another 20 minutes for a cup of hot water plus tea bags and the restaurant was empty. You also have to wait another 30 minutes to pay for the bill after requesting it <insert facepalm emoji>. Such a struggle every day! The female employees throughout constantly stared at my group in a nasty way and often rolled their eyes when we asked for service. ZERO HOSPITALITY. Don’t expect to enjoy a “resort style” vacation here. The pool is very small and its floors were very slimy. My friend fell because of the slime and the male employee laughed instead of offering a hand. Additionally, the pool chairs were littered with used towels and cups/glasses all day, so it was hard to figure out whether the chairs were available. My room was cleaned daily, however, the shower had a lot of mold around the edges of the grout. Someone in my group had an in issue that required the manager's attention and she was very rude, facetious and condescending. This hotel is best suited for low-budget corporate events or for gentlemen suitors to entertain their local "ladies of the night" (saw a lot of that). NOT RECOMMENDED.

    Loved the hotel and staff

    I had an amazing time enjoyed every min of it hotel staff amazing and helpful rooms cleaned daily. 10 min cab ride to center city amazing restaurants and gift shops I will visit again next year for sure

    Beautiful Hotel but Needs Better Service and Food

    Very new, pretty modern building. Rooms are comfortable, clean, and well appointed. We were offered a suite upgrade (for a few) upon checkin and we took them up on it since we were on the last few days of our vacation. The bathrooms are gorgeous in the Executive Suite with a large soaking tub, big rain shower, W/C, Jack and Jill vanity, and large closet. The suite also comes with a separate half bath and large living/dining area. Suites also come with access to the Ambassador Lounge which need a lot of work on amenities. The snacks during the day were totally pitiful (a small bowl of nuts, cookies, and chips), soft drinks, beers, and coffee. Service was nice but seating is mostly dining tables (you can have a very limited breakfast on this level - it was only scrambled eggs and a little fruit). They also give you a letter with details on the club, which includes some odd requirements, like business casual attire and no shorts, which make zero sense for a beach hotel. We wore shorts anyways and no one said anything but it isn’t necessary; this isn’t a business hotel. The club is also closed on Sundays (odd) so they offer a happy hour in the downstairs lounge with a few hot apps and wine/beer. The pool is gorgeous but the service is non-existent; you need to go to the bar (outside of the gate) to order a drink. Would be nice to have servers come by tables instead. It’s also extremely slow to get a drink (10-15 minutes for two mojitos with not many others at the pool). Drinks were delicious, though. There are a LOT of kids, though, so if you’re trying to avoid that, try a smaller boutique hotel. The food at breakfast is very meh. The omelet bar is the best part but I’ve never seen anyone press the heck out of an omelette like that before so I had to order them “menos cocido”. Service isn’t great and we had to run someone down just to get coffee. The buffet isn’t well stocked, either, and was almost empty (and remained that way) at 9:15 (it closes at 10). Pastries are very meh, fruit is ok, and the hot dishes are mostly meat. We ordered room service our first night because we were exhausted. Ordered the tomato sauce pasta (it was SO sweet, like Spaghetti-Os), a chicken Caesar (fine), and spaghetti Bolognese (fine). Overall, service and food are in need of an overhaul at this property. For an international brand like this, they can certainly do better. In the old town hotels, staff was VERY nice and always asking what we needed. Here, they didn’t seem to care much.

    5* Infrastructure with 3* Service

    When you see the hotel website, you are absolutely sure that you will get that 5* American service. The disapointment starts when you have your first breakfast. The hotel was very busy, and the restaurant staff was not enough to keep the tables clean, or even serve coffee and milk to the tables. Room service also takes an eternity to arrive. The staff is always nice, but lack agility. The swimming pool doesn’t have enough chairs to accomodate the guests, causing some of them to have sun bath in the floor. The place has potential, but it needs a better management to deserve the 4* tittle. Nevertheless the sunset in the pool terrace is breathtaking!

    Me and my friend Lauren have been staying at this hotel since Monday 07/29 until 08/02. The staff and service has been so great. We became friends with William who constantly took care of us with our food making sure it was always out on time and he never let us have an empty drink in hand. Always asked if there was anything we needed and even coming by the pool. He made our experience here awesome and we would definitely come back. Such a sweetheart. He was doing it all!
