Relaxing visit at the ocean
Maximilian and Angeles are amazing hosts at the pool! We love the activities they provide and enjoy their witty comments. We also like the ocean view and the pool, along with the beach bar, snack bar, and full buffet/all close to the pool, beach, and the dock.

A great fun time in the water with Manolo!
Manolo: the fitness and gym instructor also takes some of the water aerobics classes Today was the best water aerobics so much fun. Great music choice and strong work out in the water. A great deal of laughing. Definitely have a go at the water aerobics when Manolo is leading the charge! Thank you

Yoga and Pilates Instructor: Manolo
I had an outstanding experience with Manolo, the yoga and Pilates instructor at Iberostar Waves Cozumel. As a beginner, I felt welcomed and supported throughout the sessions. Manolo's professionalism and attentiveness made a significant difference, guiding us through each exercise with clarity and care. His personalized approach ensured that everyone, regardless of skill level, felt comfortable and engaged. I highly recommend Manolo to anyone visiting Iberostar Cozumel—his classes are a must-try for a refreshing and rejuvenating experience!

Beautiful Tropical Paradise
Upon arrival the resort was exactly what we expected from photos, clean and beautiful views. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed several meals at the resort and a few off the resort a few nights. The beach is wonderful, it’s a little rocky entering the water but we took water shoes and that helped..also entering the water from the pier you eliminate missing a lot of the rocks. The fish are abundant and you can rent snorkel gear for $7 from Dressels on the grounds and use the equipment all day. The food was great everywhere we ate at the resort, the oriental place was probably my favorite. The Buffett was always filled with different varieties of foods and we enjoyed freshly made corn tortilla tacos. Swim up bar is amazing overlooking the beach/ocean. Never had to “fight” for a layout bed on the beach. The grounds are abundant with wildlife but the mosquitos are bad in the evenings, we knew this going in after reading reviews but took Sawyer brand Picaridin bug repellent lotion and it works wonders! Rooms are a little small but we didn’t spend much time in our rooms so that didn’t bother us, mini fridge only has 2 beers and variety of sodas a day. No plastic water bottles, again didn’t bother us. They give you 2 large glass bottles and there are refilling stations all around the resort to fill with clean sanitized potable drinking water. We had a very easy check in and check out, sad to leave but this will not be our last time at Iberostar Cozumel!

First negative trip in 20+ years.
It has been almost two years since I visited the Iberostar, my favorite place to stay in Cozumel. There have been some changes. I will start with the more positive changes: 1. They have eliminated plastic bottles and straws completely. I appreciate their management being eco friendly. 2. They no longer permit smoking in the main lobby. 3. There seems to be more security and less loud drunks at the pool bar. 4. They spray for mosquitos daily. Doesn't stop them, but it helps. 5. They have switched from having room keys to incorporating a chip into the resort wristband. This is much more convenient. However, a few things have been changed that I don't consider to be positive: 1. They have eliminated the Steak house specialty restaurant, and changed it into a standard barbecue restaurant, and eliminated the fantastic salad bar. The Mexican restaurant was not as good as the Buffet. The Oriental restaurant was closed during the weekend we were there. 2. They have allowed Coati mundis and raccoons to take over from the iguanas. Very cute, but I never worried about possible rabies infections from a lizard. 3. The maintenance and grounds keeping are not as good as they used to be. Trash was not picked up as often as it was prior to the IHG takeover. 4. The minibar was only stocked with two beers a day. This is disconcerting to adult beer drinkers. When asked for more, we were told that it would be restocked when the room was cleaned the next day. 5. A petty thing, but they used to announce on a board at the main entrance a welcome back message to returning guests. They also used to give return visitors a t-shirt. Not a major thing, but it was a nice gesture. This has been stopped. The major problem was that due to maintenance issues, as all the air conditioning in the resort was cut off at 5:00 pm on the evening of September 8, and not restored until afternoon on the 9th. It was a miserable sleepless night, as the room was very hot, and the mosquitos owned the balcony. When I complained, and asked for credit for my wife and I having to deal with this, IHG responded by offerring us the "Generous" sum of $38.00 for the night we spent without AC. I realize the IHG is a much larger company than Iberostar, but this attitude seriously detracts from the charm and ambience that made the Ibero our favorite place in Cozumel for the last 25 years. It is still a fantastic resort, and we plan on returning. However, management should look at the petty cost cutting as a detractor as opposed to merely additional profit.
