Absolutely fabulous
Wow. This hotel is fabulous on every level. The service, the staff, the cleanliness. It would be hard to find fault with this hotel. The location is excellent, the restaurants/ bars are not too far from the hotel either. The views from the hotel are spectacular, where the hotel is situated it’s very peaceful. The check in process was very easy and the staff were really helpful and friendly, every member of staff couldn’t do enough for you. Breakfast was good, a lot of different choices, something for everyone. The room was bright, big and clean. The bar staff were excellent, always coming round to ask if you wanted another drink, very attentive. Overall 10/10 for this lovely hotel. I would come back to Santa ponsa just for this hotel.

Classy hotel with just a few minor negatives.
The views from almost everywhere in the hotel were fabulous. Check-in This sets the tone and first impressions of the hotel. In my case this was the low spot. We arrived early due to flight time. In other hotels you are greeted at the door and offered a drink. Here we brought all our luggage into reception and took a while to get someone's attention. She directed us across the room so we picked up our luggage and went to the desk. Then she said sorry no go back where you were. We were told to sit down on a sofa and she went off to see someone else. Came back a few minutes later and said “ your room isn't ready” . At this point she hadn't asked our name. She asked for passports and took them away. Came back 5 minutes later and said oh you're star prestige you have to go downstairs. So we moved our luggage a 3rd time. Now I know check in is 3pm but most hotels will let you check in early if the room is ready. If they have a policy of never allowing early check in that's fine but I thought it was disingenuous to imply our room wasn't ready without actually knowing which room was booked. Information In an effort to go paper free they have gone too far. There is no information anywhere about the hotel. If you want a menu you have to scan a QR code and I suspect most people like me just don’t bother. There was supposed to be a programme of activities but I never saw anyone and realised on the last day that you have to go down to the bottom pool. Pool Area 4 pools A large main pool A small indoor pool In the SP area A long pool with hammocks A small infinity pool - heated. Sunbeds in SP are all two person Bali beds. Some are quite old. Some have curtains for shade but those that don't can't be moved into shade. Some are on a grassy slope and you can't sit on them because the cushion slides down. Swim up rooms don't all have the best view and the patio is open. Sunbeds in the main area much more flexible and single ones but there is less shade and it was busier. We never had a problem getting beds at any time of day but this was late September. They brought drinks round the pool the first day but we never got them again, I don't think they came up to the infinity pool area . Star Prestige The extra cost was around £400 per person All inclusive would be another £400 each. I don’t bother with AI as we like to go out for lunch and evenings. Star Prestige includes two more pools and a separate wing of the hotel but the restaurant is the same. On balance I think the extra cost was worth it for the lovely pool area in SP. The mini bar is included with one restock a day (although this was missed several days). At the other Iberostar Selection hotel I stayed in this year there were complimentary snacks, soft drinks, coffee and beer at the pool bar from 10am to 6pm. At this hotel there were only snacks from 11am to 12 and 4pm to 6pm. Odd times - too early for lunch and too close to dinner. Room We had a sea view junior suite in Star Prestige. Lovely huge room, comfortable bed though the pillow was a bolster and I didn't manage to get another from the pillow menu. There are no drawers at all. Packing cubes solves that one but not even a drawer in the bedside table. The bathroom is open plan😬. Huge jacuzzi bath and washbasin/ vanity unit but in full view of the room. A curtain would be nice. There is a separate shower room with WC. Coffee machine and kettle provided. Sugar and milk but no tea. Comfortable chairs on the balcony with a lovely view. Towels were changed daily plus a maid called at 7pm with chocolates and fresh towels. Food You could sit inside or outside. The view from the outside terrace is just beautiful, especially at sunset. Breakfast A huge variety of fruits, yoghurt, cereal, seeds, dried fruit, breads, cooked meats cheeses, porridge, churros, plus all the usual fry up stuff Dinner This is buffet but restaurant quality. I doubt you could eat better in Santa Ponsa. Anyone who says it's repetitive is probably the type who piles their plate with pasta, fish, meat, paella and stew all at once instead of choosing the ingredients for a meal. Every night there is a themed counter. Also a roast, eg salmon or pork belly. A pasta station where you choose the type of pasta and sauce and it's made for you. A pizza station Grill with 2 or 3 fish and 2 or 3 meat choices Several casserole dishes of meats or fish Many vegetable dishes and salads A cheese station and a great choice of pudding, ice creams, fruit. Not so good Vegetarian We have previously stayed at the Iberostar Selection in Lanzarote. There they had a whole station dedicated to vegetarian meals, (for example bean casserole dishes, vegetable curry, grilled halloumi, spiced beans and chickpeas). It was one of the reasons I chose am Iberostar as my son is vegetarian and normally hotel food involves a lot of pasta or pizza. Unfortunately despite the abundance of main course and centrepiece meat and fish dishes there were no vegetarian main courses except for one day there was vegetable paella. There were lots of vegetable side dishes but not mains. Access to the sea. The hotel is not on a beach but does front on to the sea. There is a tiny rocky area where you can swim. Unfortunately the access to the area is down some treacherous steps, I did swim a few times but it was a challenge getting down.. A handrail would massively improve this. Surrounding area The hotel is on the outskirts of Santa Ponsa which I felt was a bit seedy and run down. There were a few nice restaurants within walking distance. Highly recommend The Gourmand for Spanish and Mediterranean food. If you want to relax in a beautiful setting this hotel hits the spot. If you want to be in a nice resort then maybe look elsewhere.

Fabulous hotel
Fabulous week at this hotel had room 1522 junior suite, with Terrace, sea view and jacuzzi - room was really clean and the pool area was great loads of sun beds available. The whole week was really relaxing - had a great massage in the spa - special thanks to Bridgette our cleaner and Mario in the bar although all the team working there were so friendly and helpful. Thank you

Nice, but some niggles
Great location, no beach as such, all rocky, south facing good sun all day. Not impressed with Star Prestige Penthouse. Didn't realise split on 2 levels, roof level accessed through opening glass panel that takes forever to open and a staircase/handrails that would not pass uk specs, never used that level. Lower living level far too small, but balcony nice but no parasol/shade available so very hot in direct sun. Lack of all usual things in hotels, ie: hair drier, shower caps, mouthwash, nail files etc etc was disappointing. Sofa quite hard to sit on and had to use pillow as head rest. Big tv was excellent with casting. Major prob for me with arthritic knees Was no lift from 7th floor to prestige area pools . Main pool was very good and better views. Sunbeds unfortunately we're very low plastic with no padded long cushion and very hard, and with dodgy knees a bit difficult to get up from. Breakfast and all of eating/ drinking was excellent food at Italian night was very good. Staff were very nice all areas. Would like to return, but would not do Star Prestige penthouse again as rooms too small. Rooms overlooking pooll would be perfect

Exceptional!!!! Higher than excellent.
Recommended by friends who return every year...... now we know why! From arrival to departure all the staff were always so pleasant and attentive to our needs including acknowledgement of any special requests/ personal celebrations. We stayed star prestige(SP)/ penthouse suite- WOW! So many types of rooms to choose from depending on budget but it was worth the extra cost spending 10 nights all inclusive. This hotel is graded as a 4 star but if going for the SP and higher standard of room it is definitely at least 5 star's!! Food for all the guests is fabulous and definitely 5 stars standard! We send all the staff our sincerest gratitude for making our holiday so special. Like our friends and many others on here and other guests we spoke to, we too will be returning in the future to once again experience what we now hold as magical memories. Thank you once again to all the staff at Iberostar Selection Jardine del Sol suites for such a fabulous time and experience. Until next year........ Best wishes Karen.
