    Repeat vacation destination

After a long delayed trip we arrived at the hotel where the hotel staff bent over backwards to fix our room problem and we ended up with a beautiful room. Cande was there the next night and remembered us from last year and was as helpful, and courteous as always. The concierge Charly was always on hand also to help in whatever way he could always a big smile to greet you. Anna the cocktail server was also on her game. Can’t say enough about the Iberostar, we were so happy. The food was good and the place clean

Very good except for the waves and the food ...

We stayed there for a week. We enjoyed it but not up to the point of coming back in the future. 1 / Swimming : nearly impossible in the sea because of the waves' strength which, we were told, is like that all year long. There are a few pools but taken over by screaming kids, therefore not ideal for a quiet relaxation. This is the main negative of the place. We wanted to escape the Caribbean Sargasso sea algas by switching to the west coast, but we were doomed with the strong waves in an otherwise very clean sea. The long walks on the very long beach were very nice, though. 2 / Food : second relative negative , particularly when you compare it with other chains such as Barcelo in the Caribbean. The breakfast buffet is by far the best ( widest choice ) of the three open meal places. The theme restaurants are only OK : the French is anything but real French, the Japanese is Teppanyaki based, and the Mexican was the best. The Steakhouse was useless. Now, don't worry if you cannot obtain a reservation on any given night in your preferred theme restaurant : just show up and if there is a cancellation or a no-show, after 15 minutes, you are in ! ( and the odds are that you will be in ) . We strongly recommend to use only the wines proposed for free ( quite good ) except if you want to pay CAD 120, for example, for a bottle of Mexican red wine from Baja California ... Main Bar : the quality of the alcoholic drinks offered was very average ( particularly , once again, when you compare it to the Barcelo chain ). Quite disappointing. 3 / Rooms : a huge plus for this place. We had a Junior Suite with ocean view ( It was definitely worth the extra $ ), and I highly recommend it in higher floors - third floor, top, is the best - : we particularly liked the fact that they are perfectly well insulated from noisy neighbours, be it on the balcony or the rooms themselves. Our room maintenance was excellent ( Gracias, Martha ! ). . The bedding is excellent, and so are the amenities in the bathroom. The mini bar was regularly replenished. 4 / Extras : there is a wonderful little coffee shop that provides free cookies, pies, and the best cappuccino. In front of it, a nice little library for books to borrow during your stay, which is a nice detail. The concierges are usually very good ( special mention for the excellent Alex and Derek ) but some give contradictory info : their training should concentrate on this aspect. 5 / Transportation : From the airport, the free shuttle bus was comfortable, but since this hotel is the furthest away from the airport, it takes at least an hour to get " home ". Speaking Spanish fluently, we decided one day to use the local public buses to take us to Bucerias,. a cute village halfway between the hotel and Puerto Vallarta. Worth the trip ( comfortable with ATM buses and so cheap that way : only CAD 3 round trip !! ). BUT the problem was, once returning to the hotel, that the carts bellboys would not move to come and pick us up in spite of repeated calls from the kind entrance security personnel ( avoiding a 15 minutes walk under the unforgiving sun ).

    1st time on Pacific side

Had a great time. Iberostar is a super clean resort. Talk with Rebeca ( with one c).She will get your dinner reservations set up for you. While out getting towels tell Nacho what a great job he does. As far as the weather we couldn't have asked for better weather upper 70's low 80's very low humidity. Definitely worth a trip back. ( Probably after Grand is built) Iberostar GRAND = NO KIDS. Food was always good can't name a thing that I eat that I didn't like. For the experience and taste of it try the Cow Tongue at the Mexican restaurant. You will find the best tongue in Mexico.

    Excellent Resort!!

Definitely a resort we highly recommend to other people! From the moment you drive in and walk into the resort it captures your immediate attention at how beautiful and stunning it is. All staff are super friendly and are always there to help you when needed. Special shout out to Alex, Giovani, Johnny, Gabrielle and Marcello! The food is amazing, drinks are very good, pool is not to busy, easy access to the beach and love the rooftop bar overlooking the ocean! Also love how there are different activities to do throughout the day. For sure a resort you will never forget.
