First time in Mexico
We arrived Tuesday and were humbly surprised to be upgraded from the lindo to the Mayan. The only caveat was that the rooms weren’t offered to us earlier despite being low season and the resort empty. This is always a very big complaint of ours. I understand you have a check in time but if you are not at full capacity please give the rooms to guests early. Many are few Elli. With young children and have been up since 5am it’s nice to get settled and still enjoy the afternoon. Food: excellent in every way, French, Japanese and steakhouse were our favorites but every restaurant was amazing. The quality of the buffet was also great. Pools: could’ve used a little bit more cleaning (we were spoiled with pools in egypt. After seeing how clean they were it’s hard to compare anywhere else). Kids loved lazy river and wave pool. Main pool had a great swim up bar with lots of shade and none of the pool ever felt full. Kids club: great for children. Our didn’t use it as much but still enjoyed the water carpet activities and escape room and disco night. Beach: lots of seaweed washing up but once you get 10 ft out from shore the water is glorious. Drink and beach snack bar both great. Cleaning: amazing thank you Elsa for your beautiful notes to the boys and creative towel art!! Overall excellent vacation, we would happily return. One our first day here I lost my pandora bracelet with tons of special charms from all around the world in the wave pool. Juan Antionio Mendez found it from the pool bar and returned it. We are so grateful for this and the honesty I’m not keeping it was unmatched in any other country. That bracelet was easily worth 500$usd with all the charms. The hotel has a great lost and found policy and way of keeping track we were so impressed with the online system! This hotel is also super eco friendly with cloth bracelets instead of typical plastic ones and amenities which are organic and not harmful to the planet. BRAVO!!
10th Anniversary Sept 27-Oct 4
My husband and I got engaged at the Paraiso Lindo in 2008, and married there in 2009. We decided to come back to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary (and a special birthday for my dad), and booked the Maya. We're glad we came back after so many years; we were hesitant in case it didn't live up to our good memories, but it did. My husband and I had pictures taken by Adventure Photos on the beach, to replicate some of our wedding photos, and we had the best time. Our photographer was inventive and patient, and now we have special keepsakes. Pros: staff, rooms, food, bars/drink, pools, beach, decor, gym: all top notch. Cons: scented toilet paper. WHY? For those of us with fragrance allergies it's a hazard, and NOBODY should be using scented anything in those areas. Ask any doctor. Special mentions: Augusto the sommelier taught us a LOT about tequila in his seminar at the Sports Bar (if you want to do this, ask around, because we didn't see it listed and just happened to run into him the day before). Also, Beto and Diego at the gym run great Zumba classes, the guys at the snake bar all make amazing drinks, the servers at La Marina made a huge fuss over my dad for his birthday (it was awesome) and the folks at Canada Transfers are lovely and professional as always.
Honeymoon Vacation! J&J
Me and wife came down for our honeymoon and had a fantastic time! The resort was gorgeous and very well kept. Lots of things to do including shows, daily pool and beach activities, etc. The food was phenomenal with a ton of places to choose from. The breakfast and lunch buffets were all very tasty. We also had a great experience with the entertainment staff. We specifically had a great experience with Erik! He was very nice, super helpful, fun, and gave us some interesting cultural info about Mexico. We will definitely be keeping this place in mind for future vacations. The entertainment was very good!
It was amazing week!!!
This vocation in Mexico was a birthday gift from my husband to me. We arrived the day before my birthday and here the adventure started. This set of Iberostar hotels is huge and very beautiful. Lots of trees and flowers, animals and birds, fountains and pools. I love everything about this place. Our hotel room had ocean view (thru the jungles:) second floor. Nice room, too big I think for two people, felt my self like in a museum with a high ceilings and tile floor. Mattress on a bad was two soft. Can you imagine? When I asked concierge about to change mattress to firm one he was shocked (because usually customers concerned about firm mattress). Mattress was fixed to firm same day as requested, thanks for that. On my birthday I had a beautiful flowers made by hotel florist, bottle of sparkling vine. The restaurants were booked for the hole week. On my birthday it was Italian restaurant. Food is good and service is excellent. Later my husband realised that we left the restaurant before the desert, when they supposed to sing congrats. We were laughing:))). Happy that we have been there in low season. We had a chance to enjoy songs of the birds and wild animals sounds and not craud of people. On a day 3 we were proposed to take a tour to the highest level of the resort, Grand paraiso. Amazing place. Every other day was better and interesting. I want to say a big thank you for the service and support with any questions and reservations of restaurants and tours to Jorhe Ficachi our concierge. All the stuff of this wonderful resort for their amazing job. Special thank you beautifully Lady Reka, who helped us to become a member of a iberostar family. This was our first and not last vocation in Mexico. (Already have a plan to come back soon)
Excellent property and fantastic staff!
We just returned from the Maya and cannot say enough good things about the resort and the hotel staff. It was just wonderful. The hotel is huge, to say the least, but there are golf carts available to take you around the property, so it makes it easier. The pools are huge and there were always chairs available at the pools and down on the beach. We loved the specialty restaurants - Mexican, Japanese, French, etc. We also went to the Brazilian but unfortunately we had to leave because my husband had a migraine all day and he just couldn't sit and eat. We had the salad bar and a few of the meats before we had to leave and those were good. The staff goes out of their way for everyone. The activities staff are truly to be commended as they simply do not stop. I was amazed at their stamina.
