It's the second time that we come, we absolutely love it here. The hype men do a really good job, we have fun with my brother Mike. The food is amazing and the service is done of the best we have ever experienced. We highly recommended it. Mike and the other staff speak various languages so it's easy to make your way through.
Excellent vacation and staff!!
We just returned from our 1st vacation in the Riviera Maya. One word - Excelente! Everything and everyone were awesome! We’re already scheduling our next visit. A shout out to Andres who was very helpful throughout our stay; and Ivan from Amstar!!
Vacation #5 to same resort
Have meant to write this a while back but have been extremely busy. We stayed at the Paraiso Del Mar for a 5th time (3rd trip was with large group for our sons wedding which was fantastic) and have again come away with wanting to return. This time we did have a concern as the A/C in our bldg was not working correctly. Our concerns were handled very well by management and repairs that were already in progress when we got there were complete on our 2nd day. The people that we contacted to help us through were incredible in trying to make us a comfortable as they could until repairs were complete. We were treated to a number of extras (massages/bottles of wine/chocolates and more) to help us get through. As we have come to expect the hotel and entire staff was excellent - grounds were a treat to be around / food and entertainment was great. A special thank you to Herminio and Christion (hope spelling is correct) for all there efforts to make us comfortable the first days and then continue on to be incredible after problems were fixed.
My husband and I are (regrettably) still here at the hotel. He had two tequila sunrises and blacked out. He became another person and has absolutely zero memory. Went to the hotels doctor and his blood pressure was 169/105. She ran some sobriety tests and said he clearly was not drunk, but something else had caused all of his symptoms. She urged us to go to the hospital but we did not go. If we didn’t feel safe in the resort, we certainly wouldn’t feel safe out in the town. Talked to hotel staff and the apple vacations representative the next day only to be accused of drinking too much and were accused of using drugs. They said “it’s ok you can tell us, we had our wild days too”, implying that we were lying about not using drugs. We came here wanting one last getaway before we start a family and to celebrate our five year anniversary. I can honestly say I have never been more scared and angry in my entire life. We’re trying to make the best of the last few days of our trip on the beach, which is nice, but it’s hard to relax. Sad we wasted our hard earned money on this place. I truly could have returned home without my husband!!!!
Ok resort, issue with alcohol
I recently consumed some tequila while staying at Iberostar Paraíso Del Mar with my wife in August 2019. We had brought our own alcohol since there had been reported cases of alcohol poisoning and such at the resort. I had been drinking my own alcohol and decided to order a tequila sunrise while on the beach from a waiter. After consuming three of them, I began to act irrationally, had to be persuaded by my wife to come back to our hotel room to “sleep it off” and became verbally aggressive and paranoid. I do not remember two hours of my day and lost my memory of what happened after I came to. When I awoke in my room not understanding where I was or how I got there, my wife suggested that I got to the hospital and I said yes since I was truly terrified. The doctor said that even though I smelled like alcohol, I passed the field sobriety tests and didn’t appear to show any signs of overconsumption of alcohol. I drank some pedialite and attempted to calm myself and salvage the time we had left on our vacation. The next day when we went to report this incident, the hotel employees in a condescending and almost mocking manner, told my wife and I that I probably had a bad reaction to the drinks. One employee went as far as trying to convince us that we did some drugs. He then told us that this little inconvenience shouldn’t stop us from drinking and enjoying our time left at the resort. Having drank for a long time and being a larger framed male, I knew that this was not the case at all. The employees attempted to make us come back to talk to a manager about my issues and they tracked us down later in the day to attempt to get us to talk with the manager. The manager was reassuring and told us that they do so much to prevent alcohol tampering and issues in relation to drug usage at the resort. I am still having memory issues of the day and I know that I drank tequila that was not normal.
