Great Food, Great Beach, Great Renovated Hotel
We have visited the Negril area many times over the years and this time did not disappoint. We would return to the RIU in a heart beat. The RIU Negril and its staff are to be commended for both the new renovation and how the staff put forward their best effort(s). Every encounter we had with an employee was a great experience, whether it was a quick drink at a bar or a server at a restaurant or a member of their activity team, every person did a great job. From our experience this is a rare occurrence at a 4 star hotel, but a welcome one. At the end of our week long trip my wife and I had a very difficult time finding any real negative points about the RIU, but did manage identify a couple, more on that later. A truly great vacation experience. For an all inclusive resort the food was great. Whether it was the oxtail or beef stew at the main buffet, or the surprisingly good Asian buffet, or the unique Kulinarium all were above our expectations. Our least favourite experience was the Italian restaurant, the atmosphere was mediocre as was the food. Realizing nothing is perfect, an irritation is the process of booking restaurant reservations up to 3 days in advance. So be prepared to jump on the RIU app every morning at 7am if you want a chance to book any reservations. Our newly renovated ground floor oceanfront room was exactly what we wanted. A big thank you to the front desk staff for accommodating our room requests. Throughout our entire week, the service at all the bars was fantastic. We rarely had to wait longer than a couple minutes. Most of the servers can actually make a proper drink unlike many other all inclusive resorts, which is a very refreshing change. Following up on the negatives, which were few and far between. First would be the power outage we had on back to back days, not the end of the world but can be very disappointing. Not to mention the unforgettable visual in my mind I can't shake. Just think no power and therefore no running water all day, then visit the pool side restroom. The absolute nasty state of the washroom with no flushing toilets was terrible. The second negative are the sand flees on the beach, some people were covered in bits. I do understand the hotel is not in control of this, but it remains an issue. The final negative, which is very petty, is the toilet paper. Huge amount of money was spent renovating the resort and elevating the customer experience all to be undone by the single ply rough toilet paper. I understand the concept of locating areas of cost savings, but surely a couple extra dollars can be spent on decent TP! Like I said earlier, the negatives were hard to find and did not impact our trip at all. If you are looking for an all inclusive resort in Negril that will not break the bank and punches well above its weight, Riu Negril is the place to go, you will not be disappointed!

Birthday week
Travelled with husband , and daughter who is in wheelchair. the room was good, although we booked room with two double beds and oceanview, rooms that are direct OV are with only one bed. So we had a side view which was ok. The drinks were fun, and so was having our own dispensers in the room ! Enjoyed the restaurants and the buffet, and ate way too much.. The Asia was our favourite, and did not need a reservation , which was nice. The staff here was fantastic. The entertainment was great and the staff very kind. Rooms were quiet . A bit from hallway & echos late at night, but rooms are quiet. The ocean is not crystal clear but we knew this before going. Saw some interesting sea life. Showers along the beach would be good, to wash the sand off feet and keep it out of the room, The only thing we found that needs improvement is with accessibility. There was not a ramp at the beach end of the buffet. We could not get to that end of the beach from the Buffet, we had to go all the way around the pools and onto walkway, as well, walking the beach walkway was beautiful but we could not go all the way to the buffet because of no ramp. There is enough land there so one can be added and would be a great addition. Having a mobi matt on the beach would be nice to get people with mobility aids to the beach. WE sat a Bobs bar and used the sidewalk to it to get onto beach but that was as far as we could go, and was really the only spot we could get onto the beach with the wheelchair.

The only thing that will stop us coming again is waiting 2 hours at Jamaica airport for our luggage and the 3 hour journey by taxi to hotel. A total of 5hours from landing to hotel. Your staff are all wonderful. TUI rep Cassis was brilliant.
