Beautiful, Clean Resort
We stayed at Hotel Marina El Cid during 2019 November. The resort is impeccably clean and very pretty, with infinity pools, gardens, a lagoon and a wide selection of restaurants. The food at the buffet is fantastic - on any given day you can choose from Mexican food (with hot sauce that is actually spicy), Asian fusion, pizza, seafood, crepes, coffee and fresh bakery items. There are free excursions like bike rides which are a fun way to get out of the resort and see the town. We had zero issue with time share sales or any staff pushing to sell us anything. Only downsides are mosquitos (many, bring spray!!!), wifi (very very slow and expensive) and the beach is pretty small. If you can upgrade to Ventus side, it’s well worth it as it’s more modern with swim up room options and less mosquitos. If you want a quieter room, avoid building 26 which is right across from the disco. Overall, it’s a beautiful, clean place to stay with friendly staff and great food.
Nice resort, respectful staff,
Beautiful resort, very clean, hardworking and very polite staff, nice restaurants with lots of different food. the only down point, is that they do not give the night show schedules for the whole week. they give it day by day. also bring mosquito repellent with you, there are a lot. other than that, it is a great resort, I highly recommend.
WARNING! TIMESHARE SCAM!
We were offered "free" activities to attend a 90-minute timeshare presentation. After more than 3 hours, we felt pressured into purchasing a "vacation club" account. We rescinded the contract within 5 business days via Certified Mail (per the contract requirements). We have yet to receive a refund despite following ALL of the rules outlined in the contract. The company's only response was to offer a "Trial" membership at the cost of over $4,000 BUT WE HAVE TO ATTEND ANOTHER PRESENTATION!!! El Cid made our honeymoon a complete disaster!
My wife and I went to El Cid for our 25th anniversary and we have to say we had a great time. the staff was awesome but we have to give a special shout out to our concierge marcella we believe she went above and beyond to make sure our vacation and anniversary would be a memorable one. the night of our anniversary we went to dinner with family and friends when we were done they brought us out a anniversary cake But it doesn't stop there later that night we went back to our Room to find a bottle of champagne and hearts made out of towels and rose petals on our bed. I just want to say thank you marcella for doing that for us on our anniversary
We continue to come back year after year
We love the El Cid properties and have no regrets purchasing a timeshare with them. The staff is responsive and kind. Service is a top priority at this property. The grounds are impeccable and the buildings are well kept and clean. As a VIP timeshare owner, however, we have seen the Platinum service decline a bit. We were given rooms without a view except to the back of a bunch of trees. But we could hear the ocean. I suppose that counts for something. Having said that, our VIP status is supposed to allow requesting specific rooms. Our butlers were very attentive and asked daily if there was anything we needed. They were timely in picking us up for departure and setting up our hotel to airport arrangements as well as a taxi to go into Puerto Morelos. Here is my ONE complaint. The food was mediocre at best and was frequently cold. The pancakes at Il De France and at De Giulio were cold everyday. I was mostly disappointed in the Chiquillas. I wait for an entire year to get them and they were terrible. Sometimes cold. Sometimes with chicken. Sometimes with a strange smokey flavor added. I was so disappointed! We at mostly ate at Delores De Mercado. Lastly, we declined the timeshare update because of how badly we were treated in 2018. The woman who greeted us and attempted to schedule a meeting was overly pushy and told me to write a note as to why we would not be participating in an "update". It's never an update. It is always a push (shove) to get you to buy more points. This is my vacation and my choice. Why waste a timeshare salesperson's time? Going forward we will not be participating. Overall, El Cid is a spectacular experience. That is why we return year after year.
