Very happy with this resort
I was very happy with this resort. The grounds are beautiful and the staff is very friendly. The food was very good and so were the drinks! The resort is very large with lots to do. There is a large main pool that hosts fun activities through out the day. There are two other infinity pools that are more quiet with lovely views. The spa is very lovely. I had a massage right in the beach, and spent about an hour in their hydrotherapy area. So relaxing! I did not do any excursions but my friends enjoyed the catamaran trip to a reef for snorkeling. The only downfall was the beach. But this is not in the hotels control. Many of the beaches on this coast have a seaweed issue. If you google it you can read more. There were workers tirelessly trying to clear it away but we were unable to go in the water.
Overall the hotel, staff, food all great. But the beach was a disaster brown water and bad smell. If your looking for a beach break this is not the place.it was our second time at this resort and the beach is getting worse.
Fantastic week-long vacation
We just returned from a terrific week at El Cid! The staff is super friendly and provides great service, from the front desk to the concierge to the wait staff. We stayed in a roomy one-bedroom suite, which was perfect for our family of four (2 adults, 2 teens). The pools onsite and next door at Ventus are huge, beautiful and the perfect temp. There are many food options to choose from. We actually preferred the various buffets over the fine dining options. The Delores Mercado food court was outstanding, with many different choices for every picky eater. We enjoyed the nightly outdoor entertainment. The location is half-way between Cancun and Play Del Carmen, which makes it convenient to both locales without the hustle and bustle. If you do need transportation, make sure you request taxi driver "Rogelio" (Ro-HALE-ee-oh) from the hotel bell hops (taxi #346). He speaks great English, has a new cab and is so friendly. He helped make our vacation memorable. Already looking forward to going back!
The resort is well maintained and the staff is very nice. It is a great place for families and street shopping is only a very short taxi ride away in Puerto Morelos. The dining experience was great, but you have to get dinner reservations in as early as possible. We are going back soon with our entire family.
3 Weeks in Paradise
We went to Puerto Morelos the end of April into May,stayed three weeks in a very nice 1 bedroom suite with a beautiful view of the ocean. The weather was very nice except for one day of rain that was only for a couple hours. The staff here are so great and friendly. There may be new management or something, all of the people working there were happy and helpful. The Jacuzzi bar was one of our favorites. Alberto, Santos ,and Itzel took very good care of us. Brandon and Tomas made sure we had our palapa reserved on the beach. Mornings were so slow and comfy. Starting with the Albatross, Denema and other wonderful hostess' welcomed us to our favorite place to sit on the enclosed porch. Greeted each morning by Nora as she made our omelettes to perfection. Walter and Sergio were our waiters and did a super job.La Marina Restaraunt dishes was so great and Raymundo made sure we had the drinks we liked. The chefs there are really talented. Then there was the Italian Restaraunt where they served fine beef filets and wonderful Swordfish. Yazmin was a friendly hostess and of course Alan and Carlos gave us 5 Star service every night. The manager was very helpful by letting us change our reservation to a different time 30 minutes before our scheduled time. All of the staff were very nice to us. The Mexican Restaraunt was great for lunch. Nice folks there too. The Delores Food Court was absoluetly fabulous and has the greatest variety of food themes.
