Once again we found ourselves back at Hotel Irma, staff just as awesome and hotel very clean. Certainly we feel the lunch and dinner menu is limited and the chef needs to improve on their skills, more people would eat at the hotel if improvements were made. Breakfast is decent except but why store bought orange juice? Coffee is weak also.It is very difficult to book directly with Irma. I agree with the reviewer that the older heavy set woman at desk needs to imrove on her people skills. Please add more shade to the pool deck. We had some problems with loud partiers but called down and it was taken care of pretty quickly.
Great Staff, great location, great value
We stayed at Hotel Irma Dec 2 to Dec 14th. Check in was a breeze. We were up on the 6th floor so lots of steps but the view of the harbour was spectacular. Weather was a little hot to sit out on the balcony with the sun on you for most of the day. The area was very quiet . The beds were fairly firm (which I like). Hot water was a little inconsistent but with it being so hot the cold was plenty warm enough. 1 Bottle of water was given per day which meant we needed to hit the tienda regularly to make sure we had lots. We never did get a cooler for the room but it is my understanding that you can get them from the hotel and purchase ice for cold drinks. The wifi was sketchy at best. We knew that going in but it was still a little frustrating at times. Staff was really friendly and we took advantage of mucho happy hours! There were ots of restaurants nearby and taxis to La Ropa beach were 55 pesos. The pool was great, and at this time of year there was no fighting for spots (the well known "towel game"). I think overall given the location, cleanliness, view etc. this was great value for the price
We had a room with an oceanfront view on the 6th floor and the view was fantastic. There are quite a number of stairs required to get to the 5th and 6th floors so it is not for the faint of heart. But, it’s a great workout and the view is spectacular. Also, from the pool and restaurant you are able to take in the great backdrop. The only recommendation I would provide in regards to the pool area would be to try and provide more shaded area. The pool area gets very toasty during the day and shaded spots can be limited at times. We only ate at the hotel for breakfast, but we throughly enjoyed it. Thought the service overall was very good. Very nice servers, front desk staff, and Yara of course was awesome. We recently got engaged and she decorated our room with flowers upon hearing the news. In addition, she was always asking how we were doing and was happy to help in any way she could. Amazing experience and value for money. We will definitely return. Thanks to all at Hotel Irma for making this stay a memorable one.
Hotel Irma Has Room for Improvements
There are so many things to like about Hotel Irma such as, the friendly staff, excellent breakfasts, clean rooms and pools, the amazing views and traditional architecture. It is small and feels authentic. Our suggestions to the owner is that even though the coffee is passable the restaurant should have a cappachino machine so that a lodger does not have to rent one for the room and buy packets of coffee. We noticed most guests go out for dinner because the food just doesn't measure up to local fare. The chef needs more training and the food needs to be a better quality. Even then we will return as we have for several years.
Great Rates, Great Breakfast. Has some flaws.
How can you complain about a hotel with that view overlooking the ocean and beach and all of Zihuatanejo? The pool is awesome. This is not America so the stairway to the beach requires serious caution and there are no safety rails where you might expect them. The room was clean and nice. TV requires some skill to turn on and get channels to English but it works if you know how. AC was good but the wifi was almost zero in the room #201. Works great in the restaurant and laundry room. Staff was all amazingly helpful with one exception. The one, heavy set, woman at the front desk is not nice. She seems to go out of her way to be as difficult as possible. I would go back for sure. Hopefully they can fix the wifi and fix the one employee.
