A great place to stay
We were pleasantly surprised with Hotel Irma. The cost was reasonable, the staff were very professional and personable. We stayed here 4 nights and went to another hotel which was much more costly only to leave at 9:30 at night as the bugs came in to a not very well maintained facility. We had one night at another hotel that we could get into last minute at night and then back to Hotel Irma for the balance of our stay. The pools were clean, the staff wore uniforms and remembered our names the rooms were comfortable and clean. The first room we stayed in didn't have a safe but we could leave valuables with the front desk without concern. On our return we had a larger room with ocean view and had a very enjoyable and relaxing stay.
A WONDERFUL STAY!
The Hotel Irma is a true gem of a small hotel. The staff is top notch, very friendly, and treat their guests like royalty! The free breakfasts were incredible, and served by the best team of male servers ever! Always friendly, and my coffee mug was never empty :) The pools had million dollar views, and were sparkling clean. Jesbeth our housekeeper was incredible, and made sure our room was spotless each day, despite us tracking in beach sand, sorry! We loved her little creatures made out of hand towels! :) The front desk let us check in early, and held our bags for a late departure, which was greatly appreciated. A taxi was called for us when we were ready for our departure, and the fare was a very reasonable $280.00 pesos. Even our taxi driver was super friendly, and made sure we arrived to the airport on time. Thank you Hotel Irma for an unforgettable stay! :)
We love Hotel Irma!
We stayed here last November for our second year in a row and we love it here. The manager Yara is wonderful, she does an amazing job at running the hotel. Honestly all the staff is terrific! The only improvement I could recommend would be the addition of mini refrigerators in all the rooms.
Hotel Irma - A Little Less than Promised
We were drawn to the Hotel Irma by its positive reviews and by the Expedia posting that listed it as having a complimentary Manager's Reception and other amenities. There is no question that the serving staff, the cleaning staff, and some of the reception staff more than lived up to any expectation one might have. They were warm, personable, communicative and focussed on pleasing the guests. I hope they are rewarded and appreciated for their daily conscientious efforts. The hotel itself needs to become a bit more current in what they offer and how they update their services and amenities. For example, complimentary water in the rooms should mean more than one 500 ml bottle per day for two guests. The water from the tap is not drinkable so the 500 ml is hardly adequate. Alternatively to free water, the reception desk could easily have offered 10 litre bottles of water to purchase at a reasonable price. We chose to buy these large bottles at a nearby convenience store -- nearby but needing to carry them up multiple stairs to the hotel. Another amenity that was advertised was "premium" bedding. It too needed an upgrade from tired white sheets to something that offers a bit more comfort. The room was very basic. We enjoyed a beautiful view of the sea, which we paid extra for. The "flat screen" television was actually mounted high up in the corner of the room in a small alcove above the door. It wasn't a very visible location and also not responsive to the remotes from that location. The bathroom was adequate, the shower plentiful and hot, but the light bulb in the bathroom was dim making the room seem pretty dreary. For the money this hotel is charging, it needs to "pull up its socks" and make its rooms more comfortable. It needs to buy new bedding, mount larger tv's and, as has been noted in numerous reviews, needs to install bar fridges in the rooms. Yes, it is a charming Mexican themed building, the grounds and numerous beautiful plants and trees are tended immaculately and the pools are very nice. The breakfast had variety and was delicious, all served by very efficient and friendly people. We enjoyed our time at the hotel for the most part. The hotel had a spa onsite which they did not advertise. However, if you wander down past the pool you will find the spa and will love the massages and services which are very well priced and delivered. Whatever owner/tenant agreement the hotel has with the spa, they should capitalize on its location and the services it can provide the guests. It was wonderful! I found it very puzzling and a tiny bit annoying when I went to check out after a week at the hotel. The Manager asked me twice how much I was going to leave as a tip for the reception desk staff. They had, it should be noted, not provided me any personal service beyond checking me in on the first day and nor would I have expected them to offer me any more service than that. How that was deserving of a tip, I do not know. So, yes, please stay at the Irma. Enjoy all they have to offer and certainly wander into town to have dinner at the restaurants there. One particular favourite of ours was Las Adelitas -- be sure to go there.
Nice, clean, inexpensive, relaxing hotel
We loved our vacation in Zihuatanejo! Hotel Irma was perfect for us. It was quiet and relaxing. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food and beverages at the restaurant inside the hotel were delicious. The view was breathtaking and there was easy access to both the beachfront and the city. We walked everywhere. They had really nice towels and we never worried about finding a chair by the two beautiful pools.
