    Best luxury resort experience!

rooms (palace tower)- Pros: suites with living room are huge with multiple balconies and views! Cons: regular rooms are sad, dark, beat up and run down. Luckily we switched to the large suite after the first night! Grounds- Pros: the most visually beautiful luxury resort I have ever stayed at. Palace tower is so grand and well, palatial! Plus Beautiful exotic birds along the way! Cons: yes it’s a bout a 5 min walk to the other areas but it’s such a beautiful walk that you will enjoy it! we skipped taking the tram most of the time because the morning walk to the car was so enjoyable! Pools- Pros: one pool you can see the ocean as you swim. The other has a slide and waterfall and is a tropical paradise. Volleyball net, perfect temperature. Cons: couldn’t find an open lounge chair but we were there at peak season. Activities- Pros: plenary of onsite activities to get you into the aloha spirit! Check the calendar for the daily activities! The dolphin experience is once in a lifetime but even if yogi don’t book it you can still just walk up to the dolphins and watch them play for free! Get the photo package if you do the encounter! The lagoon is as pretty as it looks and you will see turtles swimming with you! Cons: most of the calendar activities book up in advance make sure you reserve them ahead of time if you want a chance to do them. Food: Pros: the buffet was worth doing for the 360 floor to ceiling windows with breathtaking views. The lagoon restaurant sits next to the ocean so we played in the water as we waited for our food to arrive. Nui restaurant was delicious and the waitress Taylor was such a sweetheart! Cons: don’t go to the outdoor restaurants during the hottest part of the day. They need misters and fans or it’s unbearable to sit outside. The food is overpriced. The People: Pros: the guests are all respectful, lovely families. No annoying drunk people. Cons: Rude staff (aside from the guy that checked us in and Sara at dolphin quest and Taylor at Nui) the people who work there are just plain rude and seem to be very inconvenienced by the guests. We’re really nice and great tippers but we all noticed how unhelpful and rude the people who work there are to us and to other guests. They don’t smile and they don’t help and they take from the joy of this beautiful place.

    Anniversary staycation

Have been coming here since our honeymoon 17 years ago! This place is very special to us. This year we were upgraded to Makai tower. Unlimited access to Spa was so relaxing. KPC restaurant is amazingly delicious! I will have to try to find an excuse to come back sooner lol

    Just a fantastic experience overall

Overall we had a fantastic vacation that we will remember forever. High quality hotel, beautiful beaches, great service, very nice pools, dolphin experience on site (my wife and two kids). We highly recommend the hotel and the island and will be back for sure. The only sore spot for me was to chose the self parking, which was way off of the hotel entrance and finding a parking spot near the entrance was almost impossible. As such, each night after I parked the car and walked back to the hotel, I would remind myself that next time I would get the valet parking for sure. :)

Wonderful place to stay for the whole family!

We had a great trip - the location, pools, lagoon and amenities were wonderful. The Makai Tower was great for access to the lagoon, dolphins, and pool. The service was outstanding as well. We will be back soon.

This resort is managed like a budget airline & review your credit card bill for sneaky charges after you checked out!

First, this resort is designed to nick and dime customers like a budget airline. They charge you resort fee and parking on top your room rate. Breakfast for child is $20. Knowing this sneaky practice, I booked an ocean view room with stay and park rate. At both check in and check out, I was told by front desk that I only to paid for valet upcharges. In my final bill provided by Front Desk, I was not charged parking. However when I got home, I noticed that there was an extra charge on my credit card in addition to my final bill amount. Upon further review, Hilton Waikoloa billed me parking for my entire stay even though it's already part of room rate. So always review your credit card and take any necessary action against the hotel to prevent fraudulent charges. If you really want to come here, the resort has three towers as many reviewers have indicated. In term of room, your experience can varies depending on the rooms. Both train and boats are slow and crowded. It's better to just walk. Main pool is located by Lagoon tower. However, the pool at times can feel very crowded. Ocean tower is at other end of lagoon tower but has a small pool attached. Palace is between Lagoon and Ocean. Lagoon is kind surrounded by 3 towers. Big Island buffet is only restaurant option for breakfast for all three towers. It's crazy that there is only one person to check in. The line can get very long stretching all the way up to the stair entrance at rush hour with all the guests from three towers. The place feels like a giant college cafeteria. It's better to skip this overpriced breakfast or go early to get rip off without waiting.
