Our Hawaii 28th Anniversary Vacation
We had such a wonderful time here. The hotel staff were friendly and the property was fabulous. The weather was perfect, with barely a breeze, so the cold pools felt great. We had fun snorkeling in the lagoon and even saw some turtles. We had purchased the all inclusive deal, and was very happy with all that it included. Would definitely stay here again.
I have stayed at the Hilton Waikoloa 4-5 times years ago. Always found it nice and adequate. This trip I spent 5 wonderful nights at the Westin Hapuna ( I am lifetime Titanium at Marriott properties). Then we planned on 3 nights here with an ocean front room in the Ocean Tower. The room 3071 has a spectacular view of the Buddha statue and coast, no complaints there. But then......... This room/ building hasn’t been maintained or renovated in years!! It is the largest building on the property and is currently being converted to timeshare. There is construction taking place and the entire building is being demo’d in steps and will be timeshare only and redone by January. So that means, these cheap hoteliers have not spent a penny to make these rooms adequate. The sliding door takes two people to open due to rust or something. The AC is totally inadequate -more like a swamp cooler. The 20 year old carpet is disgusting. All of the heavy wood old furniture is scratched and banged up. The bathroom is just OLD. This is Motel 6! ( I can’t comment on anything but the Ocean Tower) We will stay the night and then off to the next door Marriott Waikoloa which I visit often. I told the front desk about the room and they knew all about it and said they have no control over the timeshare/ vacation club. How dare Hilton offer disgusting rooms like this under their banner! How dare they don’t disclose the conditions of the tower and that they didn’t want to spend dollars to keep this property at a resort level because it would be redone soon. The good thing is that I only have about 8 hours left here, then off to a real resort. Hilton, you should be ashamed! Hilton management, feel free to comment if you wish.
Great resort but release the dolphins!
It is one of the best resorts we stayed in. A lot to see and do. Intersting and unusual was the tram and boat within the resort so you don’t have to walk too much as the resort is quite big. Our room was nice but it was very dusty, we noticed plenty of dust on our phones and ipads then when looked around all walls were dusty and fire alarm was discussingly dusty. The breakfast was good, big choice, the restaurant by the ocean had crazy prices but good food, pity our waiter forgot some stuff we’ve ordered and our steaks were getting cold while we were waiting for potatoes and veggies. The pools are excellent!! It’s nice to see dolphins but I’d prefer to see them free, they are in prison. It’s so sad to see them “in prison” while their home - ocean is few feet away! FREE THE DOLPHINS! Overall very good resort and I would come back, however would look if the room is clean, not dusty.
Not in good condition
Our stay was actually quite poor. Despite being in beautiful Hawaii on the west coast of the big island, the hotel itself made us feel as though we were staying in a run down motel. The room smelled of Mildew, the air conditioning was completely malfunctioning turning our room into a heater every night, the trams were consistently not running. This made it incredibly difficult to navigate the property with a 6 year old and 4 year old. This hotel appears to be in a pretty serious state of disrepair.
The resort was absolutely amazing and the view was even better. Loved the Makai Tower. Plenty of selections on restaurants and things to do. The luau is a must see! Great for the whole family. We will definitely be visiting again.
