Huge resort with lots to do
This resort is huge but can fit every personality with the different hotel options. There was plenty to do on site and their travel desk was very helpful in setting up adventures and letting you in on local places.
The property is absolutely gorgeous. The grounds were clean and rooms were adequate. The WiFi was not good at all. We stayed in ocean tower and a beautiful view facing the ocean from our balcony. Our room had issues with the air conditioner which had to be replaced, the iron did not work, and bulb was shot over sink area. The sink area is not lit very well making it harder to get ready.
Attendance at Convention
Not good for handicapped or elderly. Too many steps, elevators not well marked & in poor locations. Lots of steps. Not much choice for lunch. Lagoon pool - hard to get to reserved HH chaise. Minimal safety rails for entrance to pools, maybe 1 inconveniently located 1 per pool. There is a handicapped automatic chair, but rails could make easier. Gave up on using pool.
Lured for the Grand Vocation presentation
When we are booking the tour and activity, the representative said we could have 100 dollar coupon for the hotel balance if we go to a 90min Grand Vocations Presentation. After we go, a sales executive, Will, talked to us about 60min before telling us what he is trying to sell. My husband and I just want to know what the product is first in short to see if we are interested or not. He could not give us any simple answer to any of our questions. We could not understand his point. And he rudely asked us: do U understand English at all? Yes, I originally come from China, but been in States about 4 years and worked for 2 years now with good communication to my colleagues and senior management. Grand vocation sales representatives should really focus on targeted customers, better communication, learn how to do elevator talks. Hotel is great, just spend sometime booking your tours online at specific activities instead of the tour desk onsite. That 90 mins is the worst moment of our sweet honeymoon!
Not recommended for people with walking disability.
THIS PLACE IS HUGE! The resort is picturesque and the facilities are great for healthy, athletic people. However, I find walking difficult and painful and I walk with a cane. Not only were the distances very extensive, but I was constantly being given poor directions to the places that I needed to go to. Once I was even taken in a wheelchair, due to trying to get to a restaurant before it closed, and the security person who agreed to push me (due to my inquiry about why they were not more ADA friendly) got lost and had to re-trace his tracks, which took so much extra time I barely made it to the restaurant before they closed. I could not order dessert because they were closing as I was gulping my food! They do have a boat and a tram to help cover the distances, but these run every 15 or 20 minutes, and that is a long time to wait when you are on vacation and don't want to waste your time waiting as you have to do so often in a big city! I also found their Luau was amateurish. The MC/lead singer was terrible. His son was the fire /eater dancer and he was OK, but he was overweight and out of shape, which is not attractive to watch on stage and he dropped his batons several times, which means to me that he had not practiced enough recently. For the cost of approximately $275 a person for the elite seating, this is a total rip-off. I hear the Luau at the Marriott is a lot better and it is $95 a person! I hear the Luau at the Marriott is a lot better and only $95.
