The Curse of the Broken Bed in Hawaii
I loved the facility, staff, food and overall experience with the exception of the curse of the broken bed/uncomfortable mattress. The exceptionally humid climate during our visit made finding comfort where you could more important than ever. However, that comfort and sleep escaped us as a result of the hard mattress. Although, reported and request for a replacement mattress due to sleepless nights was made, hotel representatives were unable to provide a remedy. One thing that is important with your stay is your bed quality and unfortunately that was missing for us--making sleep an impossible dream. I dreaded the hard bed. You think with four or more towers this would be an easy solution move us or replace the mattress, but alas, it wasn't. Hopefully, they replace the broken bed and hard mattress to help new vacationers get the restful sleep we all deserve while on vacation. A disappointed Hilton Honor's member.

A lot of things to do here. 4 pools and a private lagoon to swim in. Restaurants and shopping within the grounds. The beach and ocean has a berries from the ocean to stop any sea life from entering. Fireworks every Friday night. Free movie rentals. A must stay if coming to Oahu.
Fires, break-ins, and constant maintenance?!?!?
Ok, so I travel a decent amount for work these days. So I guess I can comment on most of the chain hotels out there. Usually the Outrigger does a great job and I'm happy with the staff. However, this location just chapped my bits! First of all, we had a fire while we were there. The whole hotel was upended into the street while they dealt with it. I know...not the hotels fault. However, their treatment of it was not the best for the people staying at the hotel. 1. Many families with children were left to wander the streets until well past 1am local. I was one of them. There was no representative from the hotel chain giving updated information. Nor were accommodations made for people while the fire was going on. Fail in my opinion. Please provide a place for people to rest, water, etc. Give them updates on what is happening. I don't expect a bouquet of flowers or free accommodations after this, but slipping a piece of paper under my door in the middle of the night isn't the right answer either. 2. The door to the room next to mine was broken into during the fire escapades. Again, not the hotels fault. Why do I know this, because security quizzed us when we came back to our room after we were able to come back to our rooms. They verified that the door had been broken into and to please lock your rooms when you are inside. What I do feel is the hotels fault is the lack of security at this location. Just placing a guard at the lobby elevators after the incident doesn't fix anything. Your elevators go down to the parking garage and street...Please be more proactive with your security measures. This is a high traffic area. Shouldn't fire escape doors have cameras or alarms or something. Instead they were wide open at all times before and after the fire, offering anyone that can slip into an elevator an opportunity to get up to guest accommodation floors. You must have a key to enact the floor you are on...but all I need is to follow someone to their floor and then slip down a set of stairs to any floor and cause havoc. Please increase your security measures smartly and proactively for the safety of your guests and their belongings. Lastly, they were all show on things, but almost everything needed maintenance which caused issues for the stay. The escalators exiting the main lobby to the street were being worked on for routine maintenance during the middle of the morning when people are checking out. Shouldn't you be doing this at night or when there is less traffic? Perhaps the down escalators can be worked on in the afternoon and the up escalators can be worked on in the morning? Or perhaps they could get routine maintenance at night when traffic is much lower? Not during the middle of the day? Why is the washer and dryer so expensive? Seriously, $4.25 for a wash? Not to mention two washers were out of commission when I went to get wash done. As I exited the hotel on the night of the fire I saw a pair of kids wet socks left in a stairwell and on another floor was someones shirt left wadded up in a corner of a stairwell. I didn't think anything of this at the time, but when we had to utilize the stairs for two days as the elevators were being worked on...I saw those two items over and over again. Please take the time to clean areas that aren't regularly seen by guests. Have some pride in your hotel through and through...not just on the surface. this location is not my favorite. Increase proactive security measures, take pride in your location by cleaning up, and provide accommodations for guests in the event of emergencies and unexpected events.
Worst resort I have ever stayed at!!!
Where do I start??? I guess at the beginning would be the perfect place. Me, my husband and son were in Hawaii to celebrate my 50th birthday, we were there for 10 days the first 5 days we spent at another resort and the last were spent here, let me tell you bad, bad, bad, bad decision from the moment I stepped into the resort I had a bad feeling first of all there were a sea of people waiting in line to check in being a Hilton Honors member I thought that we would get some special treatment nope I was wrong. The previous hotel we came from greeted us with some nice fruit juice and a nice cool towel to cool off with after a 4,000+ mile plane ride which was amazing!!! What were we greeted with at The Hilton Hawaiian Village you ask, NOTHING absolutely NOTHING!!! After checking in we had the daunting task of walking all our luggage to the tower we were staying at no one offered to help us out with our luggage UNACCEPTABLE!!! We stayed in the Kalia Tower which was just an average room with an ocean view. We dropped our luggage off at the room and then went exploring let me tell you this place is HUGE!!! Oh and good luck reading all the maps that are posted on the walls they are all in Japanese SERIOUSLY we are in the United States of America and all the maps are in Japanese. if you are looking for a nice relaxing vacation I do not recommend this place way too many people, I was so annoyed and really just wanted to go home, who wants to leave Hawaii??? After a long day I I just wanted to take a shower and hop into a nice comfy bed no such luck the beds suck they were rock hard and I woke up every morning with a neck and backache. At this point I was so frustrated and can’t believe I traveled so far to stay at such an awful place my husband just told me to just make the best of the rest of our vacation. The next morning we just planned on relaxing and hanging out at the pools got to the pools right when they opened and pretty much all the seats were taken with people’s stuff just laying on them no one sitting in the seats just their stuff, RUDE!!! Still annoyed at my experience the night before I was so ready to just leave, but finally we found a place to seat and try to enjoy the pools which is one of the reasons I chose this place because I thought my son would enjoy the pools and water slides which for the first 1/2 an hour he did but then there were just hordes of people everywhere you could barely even move in the pool and don’t get me started on the inner tubes they allow in the pools I have stayed at a lot of resorts in my lifetime and have never been to one that allowed inter tubes in the pools, so not only do you have hundreds of people to dodge you also have inner tubes as well RIDICULOUS!!! So we decided to try the lagoon and maybe use one of the bikes or paddle boards well guess what??? They cost extra REALLY??? Oh but you do get some sort of discount WHOOPY!!! So what does that resort fee get me sucky WiFi, overcrowded pools, hard as rock beds, horrible customer service, overpriced food and a great big headache. Oh and did I mention as me and my husband were trying to make the most of the vacation we had left we were witnesses to a fight??? This is my 4th time to Hawaii and the Hilton Hawaiian Village is by far the worst resort we ever stayed at. If you are anything like me and go off of pictures and never read reviews I beg you to read reviews and not just look at the pictures because while this place looks amazing in pictures in reality it is horrible trust me when I tell you this if you have reservations in the near future cancel them your dream Hawaiian vacation will be your nightmare Hawaiian vacation if you stay here. My one regret was that I didn’t read any of the reviews because if I had I would have definitely stayed elsewhere. I have attached a picture of the maps that they have throughout the resort sure they give you a hand held map in English but who really wants to walk around with a map all day??? Not me
What a shocker
For all the hype this place gets be prepared to wait over an hour to check in. We waited an hour and 15 minutes to check in. The q was so long others would have had at least three hours wait to check in, see pic of the q waiting to check in. Spoke to a staff member who promptly replied we could leave our luggage with them and come back and check in, meaning to q up again. Coming from a long flight all we wanted to do was get to our room. When we finally got to the reception point we asked why so long to check in and suggested that given it was so hot at least they could have done was offer some cold water while we waited, but this was not the case. We requested to speak with the manager, she came and when questioned why so long given they had 8 terminals for patrons to check in and only at this point 3 were in operation we did not get an answer to this but her response was we could co me back at 3pm as this was the check in time. I asked her could she guarantee me that the q would not be this long and would not have to wait for another hour, she stated.she did not know. She was very defensive and had bad people skill and very poor managerial skills. It was very hot in the q and good to see all staff had ciellong fans and portable air cons, but nothing for the guests. I said to both the staff member and the manager that had someone come round with water as acknowledgment of waiting to check in, I would not have made a complaint but this was not the case. The managers attitude to all this was that it was our privileged to be staying at this place not a thank you for choosing this as our holiday destination. I would never.stay there again as there are so many nice places.to choose from and much closer to the main drag and check in is a breeze. This is the only place I have been to where I had to wait to check in and I have stayed in many hotels in my time. Train you management on people skill and don't be afraid to offer water as a way of saying I apologise for the long wait. You have 8 terminals, you know when flights are coming in, so have staff on board so you don't end up with frustrated guests and excessive q's
