Great Hotel and Location
The hotel was very elegant nice and clean. Customer service was top notch. Easy to get to places we wanted to go within walking distance. Boat excursion were just across the street and the views were amazing from our room.
December get away
Let’s start with the good. Some of the best and friendliest staff ever. Hotel is a little dated, but we found it clean, everything worked and the room was comfortable. Nice pool, pool bar and again great staff. Thank you Michelle!! Plenty of chairs. Beach you are ON the beach. Just walk out the back door. Also a great area. Lots and lots of little shops, bars and cool restaurants within 5-10 minutes walk. Really never needed our car. Now the bad, it cost an ADDITIONAL $25 per day to park! If you want a chair on the beach $10, cabana $50! And you pay a $25/day “resort” fee to use the amenities. Of course the chairs and cabanas are not part of the amenities. The only extra we saw was you can check out towels. The room although comfortable. We ask/paid for gulf side. ALL rooms face north/south perpendicular to the beach. Our first room was on the north side over the restaurant. you looked down on a roof and listened to AC units running. They moved us to the south side, still not directly looking at the gulf. Now our balcony had a four foot high concrete wall. You cannot sit in a chair (to drink coffee) and look out to see out you have to stand. Avoid the ninth floor! The only thing my wife wanted was a place to sit and watch the water and we couldn’t. Extremely disappointing.
Diamond members beware
You should know that this resort does not regard your loyalty to the Hilton brand as a value to this property. Actually they should, at this visit there was construction underway on the restaurant patio so there was no beachside dining just a lot of construction noise. They no longer offer the free breakfast. As a diamond member you get a “continental breakfast” consisting of 1 muffin or toast, 1 piece of fruit.. you get the idea. This continental breakfast is listed for $20. The full course meal lists for $24. Do they offer the cost difference to diamond members? They do not! It’s just a way to get more from the loyal brand users. This should not be on the Hilton brand list. The towel card per person is just ridiculous. The rooms are old but clean the bathroom was tiny and there was no full length mirror to be found. Do yourself s favor a visit a real Hilton. There are other Hilton properties on the beach, adding the word resort should be synonymous with ripoff.
It's going to cost you
I am a Diamond member, which at most Hilton properties means you get free breakfast. Well I found out that the owner of this franchised location doesn't value loyalty quite as much as Hilton overall. Many properties give free parking, upgraded rooms and breakfast along with other perks. Don't get me wrong, it isn't like I can't afford it, I pay $450 a year for the privilege. Basically I don't want to have to think about it. I certainly don't spend as many nights a year as many of you frequent travelers. But if you basically pay for it, shouldn't you get it? This location has a great staff, I couldn't have felt more welcome but this one issue will translate into other cuts to us loyal customers. Btw full breakfast will set you back 24 bucks before taxes. Parking is another $25 a night. What it boils down to is the little things and this owner is going to charge you for each and every little one of them.
Hilton should be ashamed!
The hotel is outdated and dirty. The bathroom door was filthy and the toilet was very short. The carpet was old and dirty. One of the headboards was broken. The room we stayed in had black mold in the vents. We realized this after the first night of our stay and the two people sleeping closest to the vent became ill. When I notified the manager he showed me a different room with the same problem. He sent a maintenance person to replace our vent. However when he took the vent off, there was visible mold in the ducts which was left by the maintenance person. We spent the second night in the hotel room without running the air conditioner so we wouldn’t push it into the room more. We were refunded a partial payment. We still spent over $330 for this horrible stay. The only good things I can say about this hotel is the pool was decent and it was on the beach.
