    Most amazing honeymoon

My husband and I did our honeymoon here at the end of March. We are both very picky and only choose to vacation in 5 star luxury resorts. We ABSOLUTELY loved this place. We stayed in the Hideaway and we also were DC. We stayed in a 4th floor room with rooftop jacuzzi. We thought DC was worth the money alone just for the dinner reservations. Our butler Esteban was amazing! He went out is his way to have our room decorated for our honeymoon while we were out at the pool one day. We spent all of our time at the Hideaway bar and by far Henrri was the absolute highlight of our trip. He was sooooooo attentive to us. He was always quick to make us another drink and wouldn’t hesitate to make us whatever we asked for. They ran out of Malibu rum one day and we went and found a bottle just so that I could keep having my usual drink. There were 3 staff members by the pool (two men and a woman) who were absolutely fabulous. Everyday they went out of their way to make sure we had sun loungers and anything else we needed. We can’t wait to go back to the Royalton. We got pregnant on our honeymoon so once this baby comes, we are planning a trip with our two children back there to the family side in April 2020! We are so excited. Don’t even bother reading the negative reviews. People get their panties in a knot about the most ridiculous things. You are on vacation. The staff are truly what make this resort the most amazing spot to vacation!!!

    Great place for the kids

Okay I will say hands down this is a beautiful place. They've thought of everything from the keycard bracelets to the usb outlets and thermostat on your bedside. The service people were gracious and kind and very hospitable. They have a great kids pool thats about 2-3 feet deep so its great for the littles but also had some slides for the bigger kids. I want to say they have about 6 big pools in the entire property and its walks away from the beach, so that was a great thing. The property is also very beautiful. Here are some things that were not so great about the property. The pressuring of the timeshare meetings. I was quite annoyed when they called my phone multiple times in the morning to see if I was attending after I said I wasnt. I wasnt very fond of Marco although he was trying to be personable he was borderline innapproriate and aggressive. The next thing that I didnt like was the food! I cant stress this enough. The food was mediocre at best. It felt like there was no effort put into it. The buffet was meh and the different restaurants were okay, I felt like they held back on the shrimp and lobsters and their food budget is a small portion of their priorities. Overall, it was a great experience, our kids enjoyed themselves thoroughly. I'm not sure I would go again just based off of the food, because thats a very important part of our vacation. I think if they changed the food and got in some new chefs and training. I would give this hotel atleast 4 stars.

    Family Vacation

Great hotel property but wanted to clearly warn anyone that comes here on one thing: When you check in they will either partner you with a concierge member or you will be approached by them throughout your stay. sometimes they will give you resort credits which they say the concierge will have to convert for you...all they do is give you a book of coupons totaling your resort credits for different services. Personally I would suggest going upstairs to the Amstar tour office to book excursions. They had great prices, offered great services with hassle free reservations. All tours we booked came with transportation and the vans were clean and air conditioned. I will be as clear as I can with this: they are there to help you with anything and will but they will also try their best to lure you into what they call “not a timeshare” presentation in exchange for discounted excursions/services. They will tell you that it is just a 90 minute presentation to show you the property and hope that you will fall love with it and come back...not so! It is a timeshare “like” presentation. It is a different concept from a timeshare but they will try to sell you their version of the program. Be aware of this if you do not want to give up a hour to two hours of your vacation to this and try to be sold a vacation concept program. If you are into this then I would suggest checking it out as it is a clever points based program. Other then this the property is amazing. The staff is very attentive. Wait staff is great and speak very clear English. The food overall is great and you can find a bit of everything from Italian, Asian, Indian to all Americana and buffet meals. The Asian restaurant is the only one that needs an actual reservation...other wise just show up for dinner as you want. The restaurants open at 6 pm for dinner...suggest you go early as open seating is more readily available early. Food comes to your table quickly and hot. You never ever have to worry about being hungry or thirsty while you stay here. The many pools are great. There are 4 main pools you can choose from on the regular property with other pools available if you stay in the adults only section or the diamond club section. The pools are extremely clean and very roomy to swim or just soak. We stayed in a swim up junior suite which was fantastic!!! Pool was attached to the balcony of your room with plenty of room to swim. We brought along our own pool floats...these are allowed in every pool, we even saw some kids taken them onto the slides in the kiddie area. The wait staff will also bring you drinks is to your private swim out. The beach was very murky so we did not go into the water, not sure if this was a seasonal thing but definitely not the crystal clear Caribbean waters. If you are looking for those crystal blue waters you may have to go to another nearby location like “Isla Las Mujeres”. The hotel is located about 30 minutes south of downtown Cancun. You can grab a designated cab into Cancun from the hotel. I say designated because the hotel will assign a specific driver that will take you and come back to pick you up to ensure your safety. I will warn you that this is very expensive...prepare to pay upwards of $70 each way. Driving around the area didn’t seem too bad. I actually thought to myself that I should have just rented a car. There were 5 in our party so getting around in a rental would have been easy enough in the area. Very easy to get onto the highways and navigate between Riviera Maya and Cancun sites and excursions. Overall I would definitely stay again. We did a few excursions but looking back I would have done less of them in order to spend more time around the property. There is so much available. Also there is something entertaining for everyone throughout the day. The hotel does a great job catering to children in the kids area of the hotel. We stayed in building 7 which was near the kids area but far enough from the actual kids major pool that it felt like any other area of the hotel. The nice part about building 7 is that it was not very far from the main lobby. All the major restaurants are nestled between building 7 and the Diamond club section...close to the bottom level of the lobby. Some are scattered beyond that but most are in that area.
